Lukas Dostal G | ANA
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Struggles in preseason finale
Dostal made 14 saves in Saturday's 6-2 preseason loss to the Kings.
The Ducks actually held a 2-1 lead late in the first period, but Los Angeles scored five straight goals against Dostal to end the preseason on a sour note for the netminder. Dostal recorded a career-high 30 wins in the 2025-26 regular season, and he remains the clear No. 1 in the crease for an Anaheim team looking to take another step forward this season.

Colten Ellis G | BUF
Sabres' Colten Ellis: Opportunity could be knocking
Ellis stopped all six shots he faced after replacing Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (lower body) in the third period of Saturday's 3-1 preseason loss to the Penguins.
The Sabres could be facing an early goaltending crisis. This is the second time this preseason Ellis has been needed in relief of an injured teammate, after Alex Lyon (upper body) left Thursday's contest. If the issues for Luukkonen and Lyon sideline them for any length of time, Ellis would get the start for Buffalo's opener Thursday against Columbus. In that scenario, Matt Villalta would be the most likely candidate to be recalled from AHL Rochester to back Ellis up.

Carter Hart G | LV
Golden Knights' Carter Hart: Slated to start Saturday
Hart is expected to start at home against San Jose in Saturday's preseason game, per Steve Carp of The Sporting Tribune.
Hart was strong in his first preseason start, stopping 28 of 29 shots in regulation in a 2-1 shootout victory over the Sharks on Tuesday. The 28-year-old helped Vegas reach the 2026 Stanley Cup Finals, posting a 14-8 record with a 2.56 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 22 postseason outings.

Sidney Crosby C | PIT
Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Lights lamp to close preseason
Crosby scored a goal in Saturday's 3-1 preseason win over the Sabres.
The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer opened the scoring midway through the first period, blasting a shot from the faceoff dot past Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. Crosby is still producing at a high level, racking up 29 goals and 74 points in 68 regular-season games in 2025-26, and he needs just 11 points to pass Marcel Dionne and take over sixth place on the NHL's all-time list.

Arturs Silovs G | PIT
Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Sharp in preseason finale
Silovs stopped 23 shots in Saturday's 3-1 preseason win over the Sabres.
A Ryan McLeod power-play tally in the third period spoiled his shutout bid, but Silovs still ended his preseason on a high note. The 25-year-old netminder is coming off a solid first season with the Penguins, going 19-12-8 in 39 appearances with a 3.07 GAA and .887 save percentage, but he could face a stiff challenge from Sergei Murashov for the top spot on the depth chart.
-
Juuse Saros G | NSH
Predators' Juuse Saros: Tough afternoon to close preseason
Saros made 20 saves in Saturday's 6-0 preseason loss to the Hurricanes.
Half the goals against Saros came on power plays, as the Predators got thoroughly outclassed by the defending Stanley Cup champions. The 31-year-old netminder has won at least 20 games in six straight seasons, but he's coming off a 2025-26 campaign in which he posted a career-worst 3.16 GAA and an .894 save percentage.
-
Nikolaj Ehlers LW | CAR
Hurricanes' Nikolaj Ehlers: Two points in Saturday's preseason win
Ehlers scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 6-0 preseason win over the Predators.
Both points came in the first period as the Hurricanes raced out to a 3-0 lead. Ehlers is coming off a strong introductory campaign with Carolina, producing 26 goals and a career-high 71 points in 82 regular-season games before adding eight goals and 18 points in 18 playoff contests en route to a Stanley Cup title. The 30-year-old winger should continue to occupy prominent roles for the Hurricanes in 2026-27.
-
Jake Sanderson D | OTT
Senators' Jake Sanderson: Leaves game for precautionary reasons
Sanderson (undisclosed) didn't complete Saturday's preseason game against Montreal for precautionary reasons.
Ottawa's season opener isn't until next Saturday in Toronto, so Sanderson has plenty of time to recover before he's in danger of missing the game. The 24-year-old blueliner had 14 goals and 54 points in 67 regular-season appearances with the Senators in 2025-26.
-
Logan Mailloux D | STL
Blues' Logan Mailloux: Exits Saturday's game
Mailloux left Saturday's preseason game against Chicago due to an upper-body injury.
Mailloux had five goals, 13 points and 48 PIM in 67 regular-season appearances with St. Louis in 2025-26. Calle Rosen might play in St. Louis' season opener in Dallas on Friday if Mailloux isn't available.
-
Jackson Blake RW | CAR
Hurricanes' Jackson Blake: Three points in preseason finale
Blake scored a power-play goal and added two assists, one with the man advantage, in Saturday's 6-0 preseason win over the Predators.
His early first-period tally opened the scoring and held up as the game-winner, as the defending Stanley Cup champions wrap up their preseason in style. Blake had a career year offensively with 22 goals and 53 points in 81 regular-season games last campaign. He also led Carolina with 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 19 playoff contests. The 23-year-old winger should have a top-six role to open 2026-27, and Blake could take on additional responsibilities while Seth Jarvis (shoulder) remains on the shelf.
