  • Blue Jackets' Owen Sillinger: Placed on waivers

Sillinger was put on waivers by Columbus on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Sillinger had 14 goals, 34 points and 50 PIM in 69 regular-season outings with AHL Cleveland in 2025-26. He inked a one-year, two-way contract with the Blue Jackets over the summer.

  • Dante Fabbro D | CLB

Blue Jackets' Dante Fabbro: Recovery ongoing

Fabbro (upper body) could be in danger of missing Opening Night against the Sabres on Oct. 1, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports Wednesday.

Fabbro's recovery is reportedly not going as quickly as the team had hoped, raising doubts regarding his availability for the season opener. With Damon Severson (shoulder) also working his way back from injury, the absence of Fabbro could create a significant gap on the Jackets' blue line.

  • Maple Leafs' Dakota Mermis: Hits waivers

Mermis was put on waivers by Toronto on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Mermis is projected to report to AHL Toronto if he goes unclaimed. Although the 32-year-old did record a goal and 11 PIM in 11 regular-season outings with the Maple Leafs in 2025-26, he's more of an emergency depth option, so his inclusion on the waiver list isn't surprising.

  • Cole Clayton D | VAN

Canucks' Cole Clayton: Waived by Vancouver

Clayton was placed on waivers by the Canucks on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Clayton has yet to make his NHL debut, but he signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canucks in mid-June. Assuming he clears waivers, he'll presumably spend the majority of the 2026-27 campaign with AHL Abbotsford.

  • Cole McWard D | TOR

Maple Leafs' Cole McWard: Put on waivers

McWard was waived by Toronto on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

McWard signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Maple Leafs over the summer. He'll still earn his full salary even if he plays in the minors, as it's a one-way agreement. The 25-year-old had six goals, 27 points and 24 PIM in 63 regular-season appearances with AHL Bridgeport in 2025-26.

  • Brady Tkachuk LW | FLA

Panthers' Brady Tkachuk: Given day-to-day tag

Tkachuk (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports Wednesday.

Tkachuk wasn't going to be able to play in either of the Panthers' final two preseason games regardless, so fantasy players will turn their attention to Opening Night against Carolina on Tuesday. If Tkachuk is unable to play in that contest, it could open up a top-six role for Eetu Luostarinen.

  • Red Wings' Ronnie Attard: Put on waivers

Attard was placed on waivers by the Red Wings on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Attard had three goals, 17 points and 38 PIM in 44 regular-season appearances with AHL Colorado in 2025-26. After inking a one-year, two-way contract with the Red Wings over the summer, Attard is expected to open the upcoming campaign with AHL Grand Rapids.

  • Wilmer Skoog C | DET

Red Wings' Wilmer Skoog: Waived Wednesday

Skoog was waived by Detroit on Wednesday, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Skoog inked a one-year, two-way deal with Detroit this summer to potentially provide some depth scoring insurance. The 27-year-old is expected to report to AHL Grand Rapids if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

  • Flyers' Zach Aston-Reese: Headed for minors

Aston-Reese was designated for waivers by the Flyers on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

A long-tenured energy and penalty-killing forward who signed a two-year deal with the Flyers over the summer, Aston-Reese was ticketed for a checking-line role. This move suggests Philadelphia has other options ahead of him for now, though his track record makes him useful depth if he clears.

  • Canucks' Jimmy Schuldt: Placed on waivers

Schuldt was put on waivers by Vancouver on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Schuldt is an organizational depth defenseman, so this decision from the Canucks isn't surprising. The 31-year-old had three goals, 18 points and 59 PIM in 70 regular-season outings with AHL Abbotsford in 2025-26. Look for him to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.
