  • Maple Leafs' Steven Lorentz: Chips in with helper

Lorentz logged an assist and two hits in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Red Wings.

Lorentz has gone 14 games without a goal, picking up four assists, 29 hits, 18 shots on net and a plus-4 rating in that span. While his offense has been middling for much of the season, he's seen steady time on the fourth line. He's now at 14 points, 47 shots on net, 93 hits, 26 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 43 appearances. Lorentz has come up one point shy of 20 on two different occasions in his career, but he's on pace to reach that threshold in 2025-26.

  • Maple Leafs' Scott Laughton: Lights lamp Wednesday

Laughton scored a goal on three shots and added two hits in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Red Wings.

Laughton opened the scoring at 4:46 of the first period, but that was all the Maple Leafs could muster. The 31-year-old has three goals over his last eight games, and he's averaging 14:26 of ice time in that span, raising his season average to 13:47 per game. Laughton has seven goals, two helpers, 39 shots on net, 56 hits and 25 blocked shots over 32 appearances. He remains a key part of Toronto's defensive structure.

  • Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Nets tying goal

Edvinsson scored a goal on three shots and blocked two shots in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Maple Leafs.

Edvinsson ended a six-game point drought with his goal late in the first period, tying the contest at 1-1. The 22-year-old defenseman has remained firmly in a top-four role even with his drop in offense during January. For the season, he's at six goals, 17 points, 57 shots on net, 63 hits, 104 blocked shots, 54 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 48 appearances. His all-around production makes him a decent option in deeper fantasy formats.

  • David Perron LW | DET

Senators' David Perron: Set to undergo surgery

Perron is expected to miss 5-7 weeks due to a sports hernia injury that will require surgery, Julian McKenzie of The Athletic reports Thursday.

Head coach Travis Green said Thursday that Perron's injury has been bothering him for a while, and the 37-year-old will undergo a procedure ahead of the Olympic break. Perron had appeared in each of the Senators' first 49 games of the season, recording 10 goals, 15 assists, 64 hits, 22 PIM and 18 blocked shots while averaging 13:26 of ice time. While he's facing a lengthy recovery process, he could be ready to return around when the Senators resume play in late February.

  • Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: Game-time decision Thursday

Eriksson Ek (lower body) will be a game-time call versus Detroit on Thursday, per Michael Russo of The Athletic.

Eriksson Ek has missed the last six games and will have to be activated off injured reserve if he's cleared to play. The center has 11 goals, 21 assists, a plus-13 rating, 133 shots on goal and 68 hits over 45 games this season.

  • Wild's Marcus Johansson: Game-time call versus Wings

Johansson (lower body) will be a game-time decision ahead of Thursday's clash with Detroit, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Johansson could return following a three-game stint on the shelf due to his lower-body issue. Prior to his absence, the 35-year-old winger appeared to be breaking out of a funk, having generated a point in each of his last two outings after he was held off the scoresheet in his previous six appearances. If Johansson plays Thursday, he could fill a top-six role and bounce Yakov Trenin down the lineup.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Tending twine Thursday

Gustavsson will defend the home goal versus Detroit on Thursday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Gustavsson has won his last two starts, giving the 27-year-old a 16-9-5 record with a 2.56 GAA and a .908 save percentage across 31 appearances this season. He will face a tired Detroit team, which played in Toronto on Wednesday, winning 2-1 in overtime.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Tending twine Thursday

Knight will defend the road crease against Carolina on Thursday, Vinnie Parise of The Hockey News reports.

Knight is coming off a shutout win over the Jets at home Monday, and he'll tend the twine Thursday for the fourth time in the Blackhawks' last five games. He'll face a tough test against the Hurricanes, who rank fourth in the NHL with 3.38 goals per game.

  • Sabres' Michael Kesselring: Game-time call Thursday

Kesselring (ankle) will be a game-time decision in Montreal on Thursday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.

Kesselring has missed the last two games after tweaking his ankle against the Wild on Jan. 17. The 26-year-old defenseman has yet to acquire a point in 17 games this season, though he was an offensive threat in 2024-25 with seven goals and 22 assists in 82 regular-season games. Should Kesselring not be available, Zach Metsa will remain in the lineup.

  • Golden Knights' Rasmus Andersson: Unavailable Thursday

Andersson (not injury related) has been ruled out of Thursday's clash in Boston, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports.

Andersson has been dealing with visa issues since he was dealt to Vegas on Sunday. The issues have yet to be resolved and head coach Bruce Cassidy said Thursday that his status for Friday's game in Toronto is still up in the air. Andersson had 10 goals and 20 assists in 48 games with the Flames before the trade.
