Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Needed in relief Tuesday

Greaves turned aside 12 of 13 shots after replacing Elvis Merzlikins (illness) to begin the second period in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Senators.

Ridly Greig tucked the puck past Greaves early in the third period on a rush chance, but the Columbus netminder kept things close after entering the contest with his team down 2-1. Greaves has had a couple of bumpy outings in January, going 3-2-1 over seven appearances with a 3.01 GAA and a .904 save percentage.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Expected to start Wednesday

Wedgewood is slated to start Wednesday's home game against the Ducks, Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports reports.

Wedgewood will look to extend his win streak to three games after he posted a 2.00 GAA and a .927 save percentage over his last two outings. The 33-year-old netminder has been elite this season with a 20-3-4 record, a 2.19 GAA and a .917 save percentage. Anaheim is riding a four-game winning streak and ranks 13th in the NHL with 3.22 goals per game this season.

  • Senators' Thomas Chabot: Two helpers in Columbus

Chabot picked up two assists in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

The 28-year-old blueliner had a hand in Tim Stutzle's game-winner midway through the first period, as well as a Ridly Greig tally in the third. Chabot has been running hot and cold since returning from an upper-body injury in mid-December. Over the last 16 games, he's produced three goals, six assists, 31 blocked shots, 12 hits and a minus-4 rating.

  • Ridly Greig C | OTT

Senators' Ridly Greig: Two-point effort Tuesday

Greig produced a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

Both points came in the third period, providing a little insurance for the Senators. Greig is putting together an impressive January, recording three goals and nine points in 11 games while skating in a middle-six role and getting shifts on the second power-play unit.

  • Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Likely to resume skating soon

Head coach Rod Brind'Amour said Wednesday that he hopes Gostisbehere (lower body) will start skating again soon, Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News reports.

Gostisbehere has missed the last three games due to his lower-body injury, and he'll likely be unavailable for a fourth consecutive matchup Thursday against Chicago since he hasn't yet resumed skating. Over 35 appearances this season, he's recorded six goals, 26 assists, 42 blocked shots and 14 PIM while averaging 20:08 of ice time.

  • Tim Stutzle LW | OTT

Senators' Tim Stutzle: Two points in Tuesday's win

Stutzle scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

The 24-year-old center gave the Senators a 2-1 lead midway through the first period, as he held possession for a complete circuit of the offensive zone before sneaking the puck through Elvis Merzlikins' five-hole. Stutzle has found the back of the net in three of the last four games, and through 11 contests in January, he's picked up three goals and 10 points.

  • Bruins' Billy Sweezey: Returns to Providence

Sweezey was assigned to AHL Providence on Wednesday.

Sweezey hasn't made his Boston debut yet and was a healthy scratch in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to Dallas. He has one goal, 11 points and a plus-22 rating through 34 AHL games this season.

  • James Reimer G | OTT

Senators' James Reimer: Nabs first win with Ottawa

Reimer made 21 saves in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

The 37-year-old netminder picked up his first win of the season in his second start for the Senators. Reimer has allowed five goals on 56 shots in his first two outings and will get a look as the No. 1 in net for Ottawa while Linus Ullmark (personal) remains unavailable. Hunter Shepard is currently the backup on the Senators' roster after Leevi Merilainen went to AHL Belleville on Tuesday.

  • Dustin Wolf G | CGY

Flames' Dustin Wolf: Drawing start against Pittsburgh

Wolf will start Wednesday's home game against the Penguins, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Wolf has alternated starts with Devin Cooley over the past few games. Wolf made 28 saves in a 4-2 win over the Islanders on Saturday, ending his five-game losing streak. Pittsburgh has produced 3.23 goals per game this season, which ranks 12th in the NHL.

  • Predators' Justus Annunen: Strong showing in relief

Annunen stopped all 13 shots he faced in relief in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Sabres.

Annunen entered the game in the second period after Juuse Saros allowed four goals on 18 shots. Annunen has limited upside as the backup netminder this season, but he can be a decent matchup-based streaming option at times.
