Annunen entered the game in the second period after Juuse Saros allowed four goals on 18 shots. Annunen has limited upside as the backup netminder this season, but he can be a decent matchup-based streaming option at times.

Saros picked up the loss in Tuesday's 5-3 defeat against the Sabres. He stopped 14 of 18 shots before being pulled in the second period.
It was a disastrous outing for Saros, who's now allowed three or more goals in each of his last three outings. However, he did emerge victorious in his previous two contests. He's been inconsistent of late and owns a 4-4-0 record through eight starts in January while posting a 3.35 GAA and an .892 save percentage over that stretch.

Panthers' Niko Mikkola: Available for Thursday
Mikkola (undisclosed) is expected to be available for Thursday's game against Winnipeg, per Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald.
Mikkola suffered the injury during Monday's 4-1 loss to San Jose, but it seems he won't miss a full game due to the injury. He has a goal, eight points, 35 PIM, 49 shots, 79 hits and 52 blocks in 48 appearances in 2025-26.

O'Reilly recorded two goals and an assist in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Sabres.
O'Reilly extended his point streak to five games with this impressive outing, and the 34-year-old veteran has racked up 10 points (five goals, five assists) over that stretch. O'Reilly remains one of the most productive Nashville forwards, registering 47 points in 49 games so far, and he is on pace to hover around the 70-point mark as long as he stays healthy. He hit that threshold back in the 2018-19 regular season when he was with the Blues.

Predators' Filip Forsberg: Three points in loss
Forsberg recorded one goal, two assists, seven shots on net, one hit, one blocked shot and a plus-1 rating in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Sabres.
Forsberg has found the back of the net in three straight contests and has seven points during that prolific span. The 31-year-old is coming off an 11-game stretch between Dec. 23 and Jan. 13, in which he mustered only four points and a minus-9 rating. However, he appears to be back on track. He has notched 19 goals and 39 points in 49 games this season.

Woll is set to start at home against Detroit on Wednesday, per Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun.
Woll will attempt to rebound after allowing 11 goals on 62 shots (.823 save percentage) across his past two outings. He's 11-5-3 with a 2.90 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 20 appearances this season. Detroit has won six of its past seven games to elevate its record to 30-16-4 this season. The Red Wings have averaged 3.71 goals per game across that seven-game stretch.

Makar was recalled from AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Makar figures to slot into the lineup against the Ducks on Wednesday, filling a bottom-six role for the club that is dealing with injuries. In his previous five NHL appearances this season, the 24-year-old winger failed to register a point while generating seven hits, four shots and one block in a mere 5:29 of ice time per game.

Ahcan was recalled from AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Ahcan has been in the minors since mid-November, but he'll rejoin the NHL club with two weeks remaining before the Olympic break. The 28-year-old blueliner will likely have an opportunity to play for the Avalanche until Devon Toews (upper body) is ready to return to the lineup.

Ostlund has been turning things around of late, collecting five points over his last five games, though he didn't find the scoresheet in two outings before Tuesday's two-goal effort. The 21-year-old forward is up to 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 37 contests this season.

Krebs has found the back of the net in two of Buffalo's last three games. However, the 24-year-old doesn't contribute much offensively most of the time. The bottom-six forward has five goals, 19 points, 114 hits and 56 shots on net through 49 appearances this season.
