Capitals' Justin Sourdif: On injured reserve

Sourdif (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve Friday.

Sourdif hasn't played since Sunday, and his placement on IR can be retroactive to that date. He has nine goals and 19 points in 45 appearances in 2025-26. Ivan Miroshnichenko was recalled from AHL Hershey in a corresponding move.

  • Capitals' Ivan Miroshnichenko: Called up by Washington

Miroshnichenko was recalled from AHL Hershey on Friday.

Miroshnichenko made a pair of appearances for the Capitals in December, and he'll rejoin the NHL club ahead of Saturday's game against the Panthers to provide additional depth after Justin Sourdif (upper body) was placed on injured reserve. Miroshnichenko has recorded six goals, 10 assists and 25 PIM across 20 appearances in the AHL this year.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Between pipes versus Blues

Vasilevskiy will be in goal on the road against St. Louis on Friday, per NHL.com.

Vasilevskiy enters Friday's matchup riding an eight-game winning streak during which he has registered a 2.22 GAA and .911 save percentage. Despite an injury costing the veteran netminder some starts in early December, he is still sitting tied for second in the league in wins (19), just three behind Utah's Karel Vejmelka (22) for the NHL lead.

  • Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Tending twine in Detroit

Askarov will defend the road crease against Detroit on Friday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic have alternated starts over the past week and a half, and that trend will continue in Friday's matchup. Askarov struggled during his home start against the Golden Knights on Sunday, allowing six goals on 31 shots (.806 save percentage) in a 7-2 loss.

  • Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Slated to miss Friday's game

Gostisbehere (illness) isn't expected to play Friday versus Florida, per Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer.

Gostisbehere has six goals and 32 points in 35 appearances in 2025-26. Jaccob Slavin is projected to draw back into the lineup Friday after being scratched for Wednesday's 3-0 loss to St. Louis.

  • Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Guarding cage versus Cats

Bussi will patrol the crease at home against Florida on Friday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.

Bussi has logged seven games for the Canes since the Christmas break, going 5-2-0 with a 2.71 GAA. The 27-year-old netminder will take the first game of Carolina's back-to-back, which means fantasy managers can expect to see Frederik Andersen in goal for Saturday's road clash with New Jersey.

  • Hurricanes' William Carrier: Ruled out for Friday's matchup

Carrier (lower body) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Panthers, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Carrier was considered a game-time decision for Friday's matchup, but he'll be forced to miss a third consecutive game. The Hurricanes will face the Devils in the second half of a back-to-back set Saturday, and it's not yet clear whether Carrier will be in the mix to suit up in New Jersey. Jesperi Kotkaniemi will presumably remain in the lineup against Florida on Friday.

  • Dan Vladar G | PHI

Flyers' Dan Vladar: Unavailable for Saturday

Vladar (undisclosed) isn't expected to play at home Saturday versus the Rangers, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Vladar also missed Wednesday's 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh because of the injury. He has a 16-7-4 record, 2.46 GAA and .905 save percentage in 28 appearances this season. Vladar is still regarded as day-to-day, so he might be an option Monday in Vegas. Until Vladar is ready to return, Samuel Ersson and Aleksei Kolosov will compete for starts.

  • Bo Horvat C | NYI

Islanders' Bo Horvat: Unlikely to join team on road trip

The Islanders announced Friday that Horvat (lower body) is unlikely to join the team on its current road trip, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

The Islanders have three games remaining on their seven-game road trip, and while Horvat was initially expected to be with the team for the start of the trip, he's now been ruled out for the entire trip. However, the Islanders said that the 30-year-old hasn't experienced a setback in his recovery process, and he continues to skate at the team's facility. Horvat's next opportunity to suit up will be when the team returns home to face the Sabres on Jan. 24.
