  • Ilya Sorokin G | NYI

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Starting in Edmonton

Sorokin will be between the visiting pipes in Edmonton on Thursday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Sorokin struggled Tuesday, allowing five goals on only 22 shots in a 5-4 loss to Winnipeg. Sorokin is 14-11-2 with four shutouts, a 2.57 GAA and a .911 save percentage across 27 appearances this season. The Oilers are third in NHL scoring, averaging 3.38 goals per contest.

  • Blues' Robert Thomas: Not available for Friday

Thomas (lower body) has been ruled out for Friday's clash in Tampa Bay, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

Thomas was injured Saturday, and Friday will mark his second straight game out of the lineup. The 26-year-old center has 11 goals and 22 assists over 42 games this season. He could return as early as Sunday in Edmonton.

  • Blues' Philip Broberg: In contention Friday

Broberg (concussion) could still be cleared in time for Friday's clash with the Lightning, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

According to head coach Jim Montgomery, Broberg still needs to clear some medical hurdles before he can play but hasn't been ruled out versus Tampa Bay. While the defenseman is currently stuck in a 27-game goal drought, he has managed eight helpers over that stretch while making 44 blocks.

  • Joseph Woll G | TOR

Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Slated to start Thursday

Woll is expected to guard the visiting cage in Vegas on Thursday, according to David Alter of The Hockey News.

Woll has won his last three starts, including a 4-3 overtime win in Colorado on Monday. Woll is 11-4-2 with a 2.54 GAA and a .918 save percentage across 18 appearances this season. He will face the Golden Knights, who are 10th in NHL scoring this season, generating 3.24 goals per game.

  • Josh Doan RW | BUF

Sabres' Josh Doan: Dishes pair of helpers

Doan notched two assists in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Flyers.

Doan has four goals and four assists over his last seven outings, a stretch bookended by multi-point efforts. The 24-year-old winger is up to 14 goals, 18 helpers, 105 shots on net, 42 hits, 23 PIM and a minus-2 rating over 45 appearances. This is a breakout season for Doan, who looks to be a key part of the Sabres' future. He's a pending restricted free agent this summer.

  • Sabres' Mattias Samuelsson: Lights lamp in win

Samuelsson scored a goal, added three hits and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Flyers.

Samuelsson put the Sabres ahead 2-0 in the first period. The 25-year-old defenseman is having a career year, and he's not slowing down in January, earning four points over his last six games. For the season, he has eight goals -- more than he had in the first five years of his career combined -- as well as 15 assists, 63 shots on net, 68 hits, 92 blocked shots and a plus-19 rating through 43 appearances. While he's not on the power play, Samuelsson has done enough everywhere else to be a viable depth blueliner in fantasy.

  • Jack Quinn RW | BUF

Sabres' Jack Quinn: Pots game-winner Wednesday

Quinn scored a goal on two shots in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Flyers.

Quinn tallied at 4:22 of the second period to give the Sabres a 3-0 lead, and his goal was ultimately the game-winner. The 24-year-old forward has scored three times over his last three outings after being limited to one goal and eight assists over 19 outings between Nov. 28 and Jan. 8. Quinn is up to 10 goals, 25 points, 89 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating through 45 contests, giving him a chance at reaching the 40-point mark for the first time in his career.

  • Travis Konecny RW | PHI

Flyers' Travis Konecny: Notches assist in loss

Konecny logged an assist, two shots on goal, two hits, four PIM and a minus-3 rating in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Sabres.

Konecny recently missed a game due to an upper-body injury and also battled a knee issue that didn't ultimately cost him time. The 28-year-old has picked up three points over five outings in January, though the Flyers' recent decline on offense could take a chunk out of his production if it lasts. He's at 39 points, 99 shots on net, 58 hits, 23 blocked shots, 43 PIM and a plus-10 rating over 44 appearances.

  • Dysin Mayo D | CLB

Blue Jackets' Dysin Mayo: Sent down Thursday

Mayo was loaned to AHL Cleveland on Thursday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Mayo was called up by Columbus on Tuesday, but he'll head back to the minors after Erik Gudbranson (hip) was activated off injured reserve Thursday. Mayo has made three appearances for the Blue Jackets this year, recording an assist and a blocked shot while averaging 8:24 of ice time.

  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: First goalie off Thursday

Vejmelka was the first goalie to leave the ice Thursday, Brogan Houston of Deseret News Sports reports, indicating he'll guard the cage at home versus Dallas.

Vejmelka is riding a four-game winning streak during which he has posted a 1.49 GAA and .943 save percentage. The 29-year-old netminder currently leads the NHL with 21 wins, and his 35 starts trail only Nashville's Juuse Saros (36). At this rate, Vejmelka should be a lock for the 30-win threshold and should even push for 40. If he continues to rack up wins, Vejmelka could find himself receiving a Vezina Trophy nomination at the end of the year.
