Rangers' Jonathan Quick: Remains out Friday
Quick (upper body) will miss Friday's home game against the Blackhawks, per Mollie Walker of the New York Post.
Quick is set to be sidelined again Friday after sustaining his upper-body injury during Saturday's practice. The 40-year-old netminder has a 5-16-2 record, 3.18 GAA and .889 save percentage across 23 outings this season. In his absence, Dylan Garand will make his second start of the season, while Igor Shesterkin serves as the backup. Cam Talbot G | DET
Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Will not suit up Friday
Talbot (undisclosed) won't suit up for Friday's game versus the Sabres.
John Gibson is starting in Buffalo and Michal Postava is backing up. The 38-year-old Talbot was considered a game-time decision after tweaking something, but the issue is not expected to be a long-term concern. It's possible Talbot is simply being protected ahead of Saturday's home game versus the Flyers, which he hasn't been ruled out for yet.

Noah Ostlund C | BUF
Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Not available Friday
Ostlund (upper body) won't play versus the Red Wings on Friday, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.
Ostlund didn't take the ice for pregame warmups after missing practice Thursday. He was in attendance for the morning skate Friday, but he'll miss at least one game to recover from the injury. It's unclear if he'll return Saturday versus the Kraken.

Avalanche's Danil Gushchin: Picks up three points Friday
Gushchin scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Colorado's 6-3 win over Calgary on Friday.
Gushchin has four points over his last two games, but he was limited to one goal over the seven contests prior to that. The forward is up to 17 goals and 27 points over 43 outings this season, which is a drop in production after posting consecutive 50-plus-point campaigns in the last two regular seasons with AHL San Jose.

Avalanche's Jack Ahcan: Four-point game for Eagles
Ahcan scored a goal and added three assists in AHL Colorado's 6-3 win over Calgary on Friday.
With the tally, Ahcan is up to 10 goals this season. He's added 39 assists, 124 shots on net and a plus-23 rating in a career year during his sixth AHL campaign. He has two goals and 10 assists over 12 outings in March, but he remains with the AHL club since the Avalanche are healthy on the blue line.

Alex Lyon G | BUF
Sabres' Alex Lyon: Patrolling home blue paint
Lyon will start Friday's home game against the Red Wings, per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.
Lyon will look to bounce back after being handed just his third loss of the calendar year in Sunday's game against Anaheim. Overall, the 33-year-old netminder has a 20-8-4 record, 2.65 GAA and .911 save percentage across 34 outings this season. He'll face off against his former team Friday for the first time since he left Detroit a year ago. The Red Wings rank 21st in the NHL with 2.89 goals per game, giving Lyon a favorable matchup and solid fantasy value for Friday's clash.

Laurent Brossoit G | SJ
Sharks' Laurent Brossoit: Recalled Friday
Brossoit was elevated from AHL San Jose on Friday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Brossoit has logged just one game at the NHL level this year, giving up six goals on 23 shots in a defeat to Ottawa on March 15. With a back-to-back against the Ducks and Maple Leafs on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, Brossoit should get another opportunity to start again sooner rather than later -- assuming Yaroslav Askarov (upper body) remains on the shelf.

Stars' Sam Steel: Out for remainder of road trip
Steel (hip) has returned to Dallas and will miss the remaining three games of Dallas' road trip, per Robert Tiffin of D Magazine on Friday.
Steel sustained a hip flexor or groin injury in Thursday's game against the Islanders. He has 12 goals and 21 assists in 72 games. He could return as early as April 2 when Winnipeg visits. Look for Michael Bunting to enter the lineup in place of Steel.

Severson sustained the injury during Thursday's game against Montreal. He has eight goals, 32 points, 45 PIM, 39 hits and 86 blocks in 71 appearances in 2025-26.
