Zack MacEwen RW | TOR
Maple Leafs' Zack MacEwen: Signs with Toronto
MacEwen (knee) signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.
MacEwen has been sidelined since mid-November due to an ACL injury, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be available for the start of the 2026-27 campaign. He's made 54 regular-season NHL appearances between the Senators and Devils across the last three years, racking up four goals, two assists, 110 hits, 78 PIM and 15 blocked shots while averaging 6:55 of ice time.

Josh Dunne C | WAS
Capitals' Josh Dunne: Links up with Washington
Dunne signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Capitals on Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Dunne will compete for a bottom-six role with the Capitals during training camp. The 27-year-old forward's contract is a one-way deal, which gives him some financial security even if he ends up getting waived prior to the start of the campaign. With the Sabres last year, he produced just four points, along with 29 shots on net, 38 PIM and 40 hits, over 34 regular-season contests.

Kasperi Kapanen RW | EDM
Oilers' Kasperi Kapanen: Sticking with Edmonton
Kapanen signed a one-year, $2.6 million contract with the Oilers on Wednesday.
Kapanen tested the market but opted to stick in a familiar spot for another campaign. The 29-year-old winger produced eight goals, nine assists, 65 shots on net, 75 hits and 14 PIM over 41 regular-season outings with Edmonton in 2025-26. When healthy, he has previously shown 30-point potential. However, fantasy managers should expect something more in the range of 20-25 points with moderate physicality if he continues to fill a middle-six role in 2026-27.

Mads Sogaard G | TB
Lightning's Mads Sogaard: Agrees to terms with Tampa Bay
Sogaard signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Lightning on Wednesday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Sogaard has seen limited NHL playing time over the past five seasons, making only 31 appearances for Ottawa. Across 27 regular-season outings with AHL Belleville in 2025-26, he went 7-13-4 with a 3.69 GAA and .874 save percentage.

Anders Lee LW | UTA
Mammoth's Anders Lee: Three-year deal in Utah
Lee signed a three-year, $16.2 million contract with the Mammoth on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Lee will officially suit up for a franchise other than the Islanders for the first time in 2026-27. He produced 19 goals, 23 assists, 199 shots on net, 91 hits, 44 PIM and 37 blocked shots over 82 regular-season games in what was his last year with the Islanders. Lee has topped the 40-point mark in eight of his last 10 seasons, and he shot just 9.5 percent last year. He turns 36 years old this Friday, but there's still reason to think he can be an effective middle-six winger who also provides ample leadership on a young Mammoth squad.

Michael Callahan D | TB
Lightning's Michael Callahan: Signs with Tampa Bay
Callahan signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Lightning on Wednesday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Callahan made 22 regular-season appearances with the Bruins across the past two campaigns. Across 56 regular-season games with AHL Providence in 2025-26, he recorded two goals, 14 assists and 27 PIM. It wouldn't be surprising to see him continue to spend most of his time in the minors again.
-
Will Borgen D | BOS
Bruins' Will Borgen: Shipped to Boston
Borgen was dealt to the Bruins from the Rangers on Wednesday in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a conditional 2028 third-round pick, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.
Borgen will add some toughness in a bottom-four role on the Bruins' blue line. He contributed five goals, 10 assists, 69 shots on net, 41 PIM, 111 hits and 99 blocked shots over 75 contests in his lone full campaign with the Rangers in 2025-26. The 29-year-old defenseman doesn't carry much fantasy appeal outside of banger leagues, as he's missed the 20-point mark in each of the last two years.
-
Marcus Pettersson D | NYR
Rangers' Marcus Pettersson: Heading to Broadway
Pettersson was traded to the Rangers from the Canucks on Wednesday in exchange for a conditional 2030 first-round pick, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
The pick is a top-10 protected selection. Pettersson should occupy a similar role with the Rangers as he did with the Canucks, likely playing second-pairing minutes and some time on the penalty kill. He had 18 points, 66 shots on net, 79 hits, 136 blocked shots, 60 PIM and a minus-19 rating over 82 contests on the bottom-dwelling Canucks last year.
-
Matt Luff RW | NYI
Islanders' Matt Luff: Signs two-way agreement
Luff signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Islanders on Wednesday.
Luff was traded to the Islanders from the Blues in February, and he'll remain on Long Island for the 2026-27 campaign. Across 62 regular-season AHL appearances between Springfield and Bridgeport in 2025-26, he recorded 18 goals, 34 assists and 31 PIM.
-
Christian Kyrou D | PHI
Senators' Christian Kyrou: Lands two-way deal
Kyrou signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Senators on Wednesday.
Kyrou didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Flyers earlier this week, but he'll land a two-way deal with Ottawa on the first day of free agency. Across 55 regular-season appearances with AHL Lehigh Valley last year, he recorded 10 goals, 24 assists and 16 PIM.
