  • Noah Cates LW | PHI

Flyers' Noah Cates: Two points in win over Leafs

Cates scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Maple Leafs.

The 27-year-old has been rejuvenated by the Olympic break. After managing just one lonely assist in the last 11 games before the break, Cates has gotten onto the scoresheet in four straight games since the NHL schedule resumed, collecting two goals and five points during the hot streak, including two power-play helpers.

  • Dan Vladar G | PHI

Flyers' Dan Vladar: Sharp again in shootout win

Vladar turned aside 29 shots in regulation and overtime and two of three shootout attempts in Monday's 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs.

The two teams traded goals in the first and third periods, and Vladar came up big late as he denied four Toronto shots in OT before shutting down Auston Matthews and Max Domi in the shootout. The 28-year-old netminder has allowed two goals or fewer in five straight starts sandwiched around the Olympic break, going 3-1-1 with a dazzling 1.79 GAA and .936 save percentage as the Flyers begin a push for a playoff spot.

  • Will Borgen D | NYR

Rangers' Will Borgen: Two-point effort Monday

Borgen produced a goal and an assist in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to Columbus.

Both points came in the third period as the Rangers mounted an improbable comeback from a 4-0 deficit, only to fall short in OT. It was Borgen's first multi-point performance of the season, but he's found some offense on either side of the Olympic break -- over the last eight games, the 29-year-old blueliner has two goals and five points.

  • John Carlson D | ANA

Capitals' John Carlson: Continues to be out

Carlson (lower body) will not be available for Tuesday's home contest against the Mammoth, according to Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.

Carlson is set to miss his fourth straight game. The right-shot defenseman hasn't played in nearly a month and was still sporting a non-contact jersey during Tuesday's morning skate, but head coach Spencer Carbery still considers Carlson day-to-day. The 36-year-old Carlson will have several days to attempt to be ready for the Capitals' next game, which is a matinee matchup in Boston on Saturday. Once he's back in action, the 2008 first-round selection will look to reach the 50-point mark for the third consecutive campaign.

  • Gabe Perreault RW | NYR

Rangers' Gabe Perreault: Drives comeback in OT loss

Perreault scored two goals and added an assist in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.

With the Rangers down 4-0 to begin the third period, Vladislav Gavrikov sparked a rally by scoring just 30 seconds into the frame. Perreault took it from there, stealing the puck in the Columbus zone and firing the puck past Elvis Merzlikins just 24 seconds later, then setting up Will Borgen for a tally before potting the tying goal himself with less than five minutes left in regulation. It was the best game of Perreault's young career, and with the Rangers in freefall and potentially set to sell off more veterans at the trade deadline, the 20-year-old winger will likely get a long look in a top-six role. Through his first 27 NHL games, he's delivered five goals and 11 points.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Falls to Jackets in OT

Shesterkin stopped 23 shots in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.

The Rangers seemed disinterested through two periods, Shesterkin included, but he shut the door in the third period as the home squad put together an improbable rally from a 4-0 deficit to send the game to OT. Shesterkin got beat clean by Kirill Marchenko for the winner, however. The 30-year-old netminder has started all three games for New York since making his return from a lower-body injury following the Olympic break, and while he doesn't have a regulation loss, Shesterkin's allowed 10 goals on 85 shots (.882 save percentage) while going 1-0-2.

  • Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Drawing start against Pittsburgh

Swayman will tend the home twine Tuesday versus the Penguins, per Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald.

Swayman dropped his first game following the Olympic break, allowing two goals on 16 shots in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Flyers. The 27-year-old made just two starts for the Bruins in February and one for Team USA, so his workload may start to pick up during the stretch run. As for Tuesday's opponent, Swayman owns a 2-5-0 record, 2.68 GAA and .908 save percentage over eight career regular-season appearances against Pittsburgh.

  • Blue Jackets' Damon Severson: Two-point effort in OT win

Severson picked up two assists in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over the Rangers.

After helping to set up a Mathieu Olivier tally in the second period, Severson started a breakout in OT that was capped by Kirill Marchenko's game-winner. It was the veteran blueliner's first multi-point performance since Jan. 3, and on the season, Severson has four goals, 23 points, 74 blocked shots, 74 shots on net, 36 hits, 30 PIM and a plus-8 rating in 58 games.

  • Capitals' Logan Thompson: In goal Tuesday

Thompson will get the starting nod at home against the Mammoth on Tuesday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.

Thompson heads into Tuesday's tilt on a three-game winning streak during which he has posted a 1.68 GAA and .937 save percentage. On the year, the 29-year-old Calgary native has already reached the 20-win mark for the fourth consecutive year and might still have enough time to push for 30.

  • Blue Jackets' Charlie Coyle: Two helpers Monday

Coyle notched two assists, one on the power play, in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over the Rangers.

The veteran center had a hand in tallies by Kirill Marchenko in the first period and Mathieu Olivier in the second. Coyle has been on fire since late January, and the Olympic break did nothing to cool him down -- over the last nine games, he's produced five multi-point performances and piled up five goals and 15 points in total.
