  • Wyatt Kaiser D | CHI

Blackhawks' Wyatt Kaiser: Lands on injured reserve

Kaiser (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, retroactive to Feb. 4.

Kaiser suffered a lower-body injury just before the Olympic break, and the Blackhawks announced Tuesday that the 23-year-old won't be available when the team resumes play in late February. While it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, he'll be eligible to be activated off injured reserve at any point, while Kevin Korchinski and Sam Rinzel were recalled by Chicago on Wednesday.

  • Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Exits quarterfinal game

Crosby exited Canada's quarterfinal game against Czechia on Wednesday due to a right leg injury, Luke Fox of Sportsnet reports.

Crosby logged 5:55 of ice time before exiting the game. He has excelled in the 2026 Olympics, scoring two goals and six points across three appearances before Wednesday's action. It's not yet known how significant Crosby's injury is, but if Canada beats Czechia, then the nation will advance to the semifinals and play Friday.

  • Juuse Saros G | NSH

Predators' Juuse Saros: Drawing start against Switzerland

Saros will start for Finland during Wednesday's quarterfinal matchup against Switzerland at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

After a shaky start to the Olympics in which he allowed three goals on 24 shots in a loss to Slovakia, Saros has settled down over his last two outings, turning aside 49 of the 50 shots he's seen in starts against Sweden and Italy. Saros will attempt to remain hot Wednesday in an attempt to propel Finland to the semifinals.

  • Sean Monahan C | CLB

Blue Jackets' Sean Monahan: Misses practice Wednesday

Monahan didn't participate in Wednesday's practice due to an illness, per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.

Columbus' schedule doesn't resume until Feb. 26 versus Boston, so Monahan has plenty of time to recover before he's in danger of missing playing time. The 31-year-old has 10 goals and 27 points in 52 outings in 2025-26.

  • Blue Jackets' Kirill Marchenko: Dealing with lower-body issue

Marchenko didn't participate in Wednesday's practice session due to a lower-body injury, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Marchenko missed the Blue Jackets' final two games before the Olympic break due to an illness, but he's now dealing with a lower-body issue with just over a week before the team resumes play. It's not yet clear whether his injury will impact his availability for the Blue Jackets' game against the Bruins on Feb. 26, but if he's unable to suit up, Danton Heinen is a candidate to remain in the lineup.

  • Wild's Matt Kiersted: Up from minors

Kiersted was summoned by Minnesota on Wednesday.

Kiersted has a goal and six points in 31 outings with AHL Iowa in 2025-26. He also has an assist in four appearances with Minnesota this season. Kiersted will participate in practices with Minnesota during the Olympic break, but it remains to be seen if he'll stick with the NHL club once Minnesota's schedule resumes Feb. 26 in Colorado.

  • Ben Gleason D | MIN

    Wild's Benjamin Gleason: Recalled Wednesday

Gleason has been called up by Minnesota on Wednesday.

Gleason has a goal and 17 points in 44 outings with AHL Iowa this season. The 27-year-old hasn't played in the NHL since the 2018-19 regular season. Although he'll participate in practices during the Olympic break, Gleason will probably return to the minors without playing for Minnesota.

  • Boris Katchouk LW | PHI

Wild's Boris Katchouk: Called up by Minnesota

Katchouk was recalled from AHL Iowa on Wednesday.

Katchouk was acquired by Minnesota in late December, and he'll join the NHL club for the first time. However, he'll likely head back to the minors after having an opportunity to skate with the Wild during practice before the team resumes play Feb. 26.

  • Oliver Bonk D | PHI

Flyers' Oliver Bonk: Up from minors

Bonk was summoned by Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Bonk has two goals and six points in 22 outings with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2025-26. The 21-year-old might make his NHL debut when the Flyers' schedule resumes next Wednesday in Washington. However, it's also possible that he's simply up to get into some practices with the NHL squad during the Olympic break and will be returned to the minors without getting into a game.

  • Flyers' Hunter McDonald: Recalled by Philadelphia

McDonald was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

McDonald was sent to the minors in late January, but he'll rejoin the NHL club to provide additional depth for at least a week in practice before the NHL season resumes Feb. 25. The 23-year-old hasn't yet made his NHL debut, and it seems likely that he'll be sent back to the minors once the Flyers resume play.
