Yaroslav Askarov G | SJ
Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Struggles continue Wednesday
Askarov stopped 38 of 41 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Avalanche. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Askarov continues to struggle when called upon, but to be fair, the Avalanche have one of the top offenses in the league. The 23-year-old enters the Olympic break on a sour note since he's gone 2-5-1 with a 4.09 GAA and a subpar .858 save percentage in his last nine appearances.

Juuse Saros G | NSH
Predators' Juuse Saros: Gives up six goals
Saros stopped 38 of 44 shots in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Wild.
Saros was busy throughout the game and let six shots past him, which was his 11th straight game allowing three or more goals. The 30-year-old netminder enters the Olympic break in the midst of a cold spell, posting a 6-5-2 record with a 3.81 GAA and an .881 save percentage in 14 appearances since the beginning of January. The Predators play Thursday against the Capitals, but Justus Annunen is slated to get the nod for that contest, according to Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean.

Juho Lammikko LW | NJ
Juho Lammikko: Waived unconditionally
Lammikko was placed on unconditional waivers by the Devils on Thursday for the purpose of terminating his contract.
Lammikko was sent down to AHL Utica on Wednesday and likely wants to return to his native Finland to play out the season. Lammikko had two assists in 24 NHL games this season and was playing on a one-year, $800,000 contract, signed in June of 2025.

Filip Gustavsson G | MIN
Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Gives up five goals
Gustavsson stopped 30 of 35 shots in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime win over the Predators.
Gustavsson didn't have his best performance in this contest, but he still managed to extend his undefeated streak in regulation to nine games, going 6-0-2 with a 3.15 GAA and an .888 save percentage over that span. Gustavsson should remain the Wild's No. 1 goaltender once the league resumes following the Olympic break.

Elmer Soderblom LW | PIT
Red Wings' Elmer Soderblom: Cold on offense
Soderblom was held off the scoresheet for a 15th straight game in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Mammoth.
Soderblom was also scratched seven times in that span, though he's played every game since Jan. 10. The Red Wings have some depth players in the AHL that could get a look over Soderblom following the Olympic break. The 24-year-old has had a brutal season with just three points, 42 shots on net, 62 hits and a minus-4 rating over 38 appearances in a fourth-line role, which isn't going to cut it for a team with playoff aspirations.

Kyle Connor LW | WPG
Jets' Kyle Connor: Buries power-play goal in loss
Connor scored a power-play goal on six shots and went minus-2 in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Canadiens.
This was Connor's 25th goal of the season, a mark he's reached in each of the last nine seasons. The 29-year-old winger is at 64 points (14 on the power play), 185 shots on net and a minus-3 rating over 56 appearances. Connor remains a bright spot for the Jets, and he'll join Team USA at the Olympics with the momentum of a five-game, six-point streak.

Phillip Danault C | MON
Canadiens' Phillip Danault: Deposits shorthanded empty-netter
Danault scored a shorthanded empty-net goal on three shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Jets.
Danault's three goals this season have all come within the last eight games. The 32-year-old looks comfortable in a bottom-six role for the Canadiens. He's earned nine points in 21 outings since he was dealt away from the Kings, and the center has a total of 14 goals, 73 shots on net, 40 hits, 29 blocked shots and 20 PIM over 51 appearances this season.
-
Oliver Kapanen C | MON
Canadiens' Oliver Kapanen: Nets equalizer
Kapanen scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Jets.
Kapanen has two goals and two assists over his last four games. The 22-year-old has impressed as a rookie with 18 goals, 31 points, 102 shots on net, 56 blocked shots, 21 hits and a plus-5 rating in 57 appearances. He'll be in Italy for the Olympics as a member of Team Finland.
-
Lane Hutson D | MON
Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Bends twine in win
Hutson scored a goal, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Jets.
Hutson has a goal and four assists during his four-game point streak. The 21-year-old defenseman reached the 10-goal mark for the season with this tally. He's added 48 assists, 16 power-play points, 91 shots on net, 90 blocked shots, 24 PIM and a plus-22 rating over 57 appearances. Hutson has quickly established himself as one of the top fantasy blueliners in the league in his two NHL seasons.

Mark Kastelic C | BOS
Bruins' Mark Kastelic: Lights lamp Wednesday
Kastelic scored a goal and added four hits in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Panthers.
Kastelic has a point in each of his last two outings after going seven contests without one. The 26-year-old hasn't found much consistent offense in a bottom-six role this season, though it's still been a career year for him. He's at nine goals, eight helpers, 73 shots on net, 158 hits, 108 PIM and 46 blocked shots over 57 games.
