With Monday here, we have new series and plenty of minor roster moves. We have some bigger names below as well, though. Let's hit the nightly roundup.
Roster moves, transactions, etc.
Astros: Jake Marisnick was sent down to the minors with reliever Michael Feliz being called up.
Diamondbacks: Relievers Evan Marshall and Tyler Wagner were both sent down to the minors while Keith Hessler was recalled.
Indians: They placed Carlos Carrasco on the DL (Four Things to Know) while activating Michael Brantley.
Mariners: They had to swap out relievers, as Joaquin Benoit was placed on the DL. As a corresponding move, Maychkol Guaipe was activated.
David Murphy: The outfielder has opted out of his minor-league deal with the Twins and is now again a free agent (Rhett Bollinger). He did the same to his Red Sox deal earlier this year.
Orioles: Kevin Gausman was activated from the DL in order to start Monday's game while Ryan Flaherty was optioned to the minors.
Rangers: Cesar Ramos was called up from the minors to start Monday on the hill, while Nick Martinez was optioned to the minors.
Reds: Michael Lorenzon was moved from the 15-day DL to the 60-day, in order to add Layne Somsen to the 40-man roster. Also, Jay Bruce was placed on the paternity leave list.
Rockies: Duster Garneau and Jordan Lyles were optioned to Triple-A while Nick Hundley was activated from the DL and Scott Oberg was recalled. Chris Rusin will start Friday in the rotation spot vacated by Lyles (Thomas Harding).
Twins: Alex Meyer was called up, Danny Santana was activated and Max Kepler and Byron Buxton were sent down to the minors. More on Buxton's demotion here.
White Sox: Miguel Gonzalez was activated in time to start Monday's game, with Erik Johnson being optioned to the minors.
Injury updates
Angels: Tyler Skaggs is in Triple-A rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and he was scratched from Monday's scheduled start due to fatigue. The club will move forward extremely conservatively with the youngster (ocregister.com).
Astros: Lance McCullers threw "half a bullpen" session on Sunday as he continues to work his way back from a shoulder injury (houstonchronicle.com).
Braves: Ender Inciarate will increase his running this week as he looks to return from a hamstring injury (David O'Brien).
Dodgers: Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder surgery, groin injury) is set to throw a 20-25 pitch bullpen session on Tuesday (Eric Stephen). Also, Carl Crawford says that he's been notified he'll be activated from the DL on Tuesday (Bill Shaikin).
Giants: Sergio Romo will test his balky elbow by playing catch on Friday (Alex Pavlovic).
Mets: Yoenis Cespedes didn't start Monday's game, as he had "a lot of fluid drained from his right leg." (Anthony DiComo).
Orioles: Yovani Gallardo got a cortisone shot in his right shoulder and is expected to miss the next four weeks (Eduardo A. Encina). Encina further reports that an MRI didn't reveal anything different from back in February -- remember that Gallardo's agreed-upon deal was restructured due to concerns with his medicals.
Also, Jimmy Paredes will begin his rehab assignment on Tuesday (Roch Kubatko).
Rangers: Cole Hamels had to miss Monday's scheduled start due to a hamstring issue, but he threw a bullpen session and it went well, so he'll be back as soon as Saturday (texasrangers.com).
Reds: Brandon Phillips was hit in the hand with a pitch and left Monday's game.
Tigers: James McCann is coming off an ankle injury and ran the bases Monday. It's possible that he'll begin a minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday (Jason Beck).
Reports, rumors and speculation
Athletics: Beat writer Susan Slusser believes Jesse Hahn will join the rotation later this week.
Braves: Apparently they tried to trade Hector Olivera after his arrest for misdemeanor assault and battery.
Cardinals/Blue Jays: Jon Morosi of MLB Network mentions that the two teams could line up on a trade down the line, with either Matt Adams or Brandon Moss being options to go to Toronto.
