  • Mets' Devin Williams: Lands on IL with shoulder strain

The Mets placed Williams on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a right shoulder strain.

Williams missed time recently with what was described as right arm fatigue, and now he's shelved with a strained shoulder. The Mets are optimistic that Williams will be in line for a relatively brief absence, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The only player on the Mets' active roster other than Williams to record a save this season is Daniel Duarte, who picked up his second career save last week when Williams was unavailable. Duarte could be the next man up to close for the Mets, but Kodai Senga is also a candidate.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Overcomes arm fatigue

Williams has been nursing right arm fatigue but is available out of the Mets' bullpen for Thursday's game in Cleveland, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

He was unavailable Wednesday, leading to Daniel Duarte closing things down to notch his second career save. Williams will be ready for a save opportunity Thursday should one present itself, and the Mets do not seem concerned at this point that Williams' fatigue will be a recurring issue.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Locks down 16th save

Williams secured the save Thursday against the Marlins, allowing no runs on no hits and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two.

The Marlins made things a bit interesting with a leadoff walk in a two-run game, but Williams responded by striking out the next two hitters he faced and then induced a game-ending popup by Javier Sanoja. It's been an adventure at times this season for the 31-year-old right-hander, but he's delivered five consecutive scoreless outings and converted three straight save opportunities. For the year, Williams has a 4.17 ERA, a career-worst 1.58 WHIP and 51:20 K:BB with 16 saves in 19 chances over 36.2 innings.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Notches 15th save

Williams recorded his 15th save of the season in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against Atlanta, giving up a hit and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Airbender needed 18 pitches (12 strikes) to protect a 3-2 lead, giving up a two-out single to Mauricio Dubon before fanning Austin Riley to end the matinee. Williams has had a bumpy first season with the Mets, and even though he's produced a 2.70 ERA and 20:6 K:BB over 16.2 innings since the beginning of June, his 1.56 WHIP and 3.2 BB/9 contributed to blowing two of his nine save chances during that span.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Locks down 14th save

Williams secured the save Thursday against the Phillies, throwing a clean ninth inning with one strikeout.

After blowing back-to-back saves going into the All-Star break, Williams got back on track Thursday and recorded career save No. 100 in the process. The 31-year-old right-hander, who has remained New York's closer despite shaky results in 2026, could see his hold on the ninth-inning role strengthen if the Mets choose to eventually offload setup man Luke Weaver, who's a rumored trade candidate ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline. Through 32.2 innings, Williams has a 4.68 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 45:19 K:BB with 14 saves in 17 chances.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Blows save Sunday

Williams was charged with a blown save in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Red Sox, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks in the ninth inning.

Entering the ninth inning with a 2-0 lead, Williams would load the bases with two outs before walking Andruw Monasterio and giving up a game-tying hit to Jarren Duran. It's a tough way to finish the first half for Williams, who's blown back-to-back save chances and allowed four earned runs over his last 3.1 frames. He'll head into the All-Star break with a 4.83 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 44:19 K:BB while converting 13 saves across 31.2 innings.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Charged with blown save Monday

Williams blew the save in Monday's 7-6 extra-inning win against Atlanta. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with no strikeouts over two-thirds of an inning.

Williams entered with a two-run cushion in the ninth inning but was unable to secure the victory, surrendering a game-tying two-run homer to Matt Olson before eventually being lifted for Brooks Raley, who recorded the final out of the frame to send the game to an extra inning. While Williams has been shaky with a 4.85 ERA and 1.65 WHIP across 29.2 innings this season, Monday marked just his second blown save in 15 opportunities. Having pitched in back-to-back games, the right-hander will likely be unavailable for Tuesday's series opener against Kansas City.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Hangs on for 13th save

Williams picked up the save in Sunday's 10-9 win over Atlanta, allowing a run on three hits in two-thirds of an inning. He struck out two.

It looked like Williams would get the day off, as the Mets entered the ninth inning ahead 10-3. However, after Huascar Brazoban gave up five runs, Williams was called upon to put out the fire. It didn't come easy for Williams either, as he gave up a run before Atlanta loaded the bases with two outs. However, he rebounded to strike out Dominic Smith to close out a one-run victory, notching his 13th save this season. Prior to Sunday, Williams had allowed just one run in his previous 11.1 innings, logging five saves in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 4.34 through 29 innings this year with a 1.55 WHIP and 43:16 K:BB.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Collects 12th save

Williams earned the save in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Blue Jays, allowing one hit without recording a walk or strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

Williams was summoned to finish a team shutout for the Mets and worked around a two-out single to do so. It capped a strong June for the 31-year-old, who yielded just one earned run over nine outings while converting all four of his save chances. For the year, he's 12-for-13 in save opportunities with a 4.13 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 41:16 K:BB across 28.1 innings.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Records 11th save

Williams earned the save Thursday against the Phillies, allowing a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one over one inning.

Williams was called upon to protect a three-run lead in the ninth inning and ultimately got the job done despite some late traffic. He allowed a run on a Justin Crawford RBI single and put additional runners on base, but the right-hander avoided a bigger rally and secured his 11th save of the season. While the overall numbers remain underwhelming, Williams has pitched much better of late, posting scoreless outings in 16 of his last 18 appearances. He owns a 5.18 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 38:15 K:BB across 24.1 innings with just one blown save on the year.

  • Mets' Devin Williams: Secures 10th save

Williams picked up the save Friday against Atlanta. He allowed two hits and no walks while striking out two and was not charged with a run over 1.1 innings.

The veteran closer was called upon with two outs and runners on second and third in the eighth inning and allowed an inherited runner to score on an infield single, but he then induced a flyout and returned for the ninth to finish off his second save in as many days. Williams has given up just one run with a 12:4 K:BB across his past six appearances and has been scored upon just twice in his past 17 outings dating back to April 26. His 5.01 ERA and 1.50 WHIP remain inflated, but Williams has still secured 10 of 11 save chances and has a 14.3 K/9 across 23.1 innings this year.

Williams made quick work of St. Louis on Wednesday to close out the Mets' one-run victory, earning his ninth save this season. After a shaky start to the year, Williams has now converted his last seven save chances while holding opponents scoreless in 14 of his last 16 appearances. Overall, Williams sports a 5.32 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB across 22 innings this season.

Williams struck out three and also walked three in a scoreless ninth to steal a save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Cincinnati.

Williams walked the bases loaded in the top of the ninth with one out but was able to fan Dane Myers and Blake Dunn for his eighth save in nine attempts this season. The right-hander has converted six straight save chances, with his only blemish coming in a loss against Miami on May 24. During this span, Williams has given up four earned runs (all coming in the loss) and has a 13:7 K:BB over nine innings.
