Padres' Mason Miller: Flirts with danger in save
Miller allowed two hits and a walk while striking out four over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the save in Friday's 2-0 win over the Mariners.
Miller had a close call after being called upon to relieve Jason Adam in the eighth inning, allowing a single to load the bases before striking out Connor Joe. In the ninth, Miller put two more runners on base but struck out the last two batters he faced to finish the save. He threw 34 pitches (19 strikes) in his second appearance in three days, so his workload could be managed over the weekend. The flamethrower has converted all 14 of his save chances this season while pitching to a 0.86 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 44:6 K:BB across 21 innings.

Padres' Mason Miller: Nails down 13th save
Miller secured the save Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks in the ninth inning. He struck out two.
It didn't look like the Padres would have a save opportunity Wednesday, but Gavin Sheets' go-ahead three-run home run in the top of the ninth frame opened the door for Miller. The hard-throwing right-hander did allow the possible tying run to get to the plate, but he struck out Jackson Chourio to seal the win for San Diego and deliver a fifth straight scoreless appearance. Through 19.2 innings this year, Miller has a scintillating 0.92 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 40:5 K:BB while converting all 13 of his save chances.

Padres' Mason Miller: Continues dominant campaign
Miller picked up a save against the Cardinals on Saturday, allowing two walks and striking out four batters over 1.1 hitless and scoreless innings.
Miller came into Saturday having recorded more than three outs just once over 17 appearances. However, he was called upon in the eighth frame with a St. Louis runner on second base and two outs. Miller ended the inning by inducing a groundout and unsurprisingly was back on the mound for the ninth. He got himself into a bit of trouble with a pair of walks, then uncorked a wild pitch on a strikeout to allow the batter to reach first base and load the bases, but Miller ultimately escaped with the save by getting JJ Wetherholt to strike out. The All-Star closer has been utterly dominant so far this season, going 12-for-12 on save chances while allowing just two earned runs and racking up an absurd 38:5 K:BB over 18.2 innings spanning 18 outings.

Padres' Mason Miller: Converts 11th save
Miller allowed a hit and struck out three without walking a batter over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the White Sox.
This was Miller's first save in eight days, as his last two outings came in non-save situations. He hasn't been rattled by the end of his 34.2-inning scoreless streak, which dated back to the 2025 campaign prior to its end Monday against the Cubs. He's tossed a pair of scoreless outings since then and remains dialed in as the Padres' closer. Miller has a 1.10 ERA, 0.61 WHIP and 32:3 K:BB over 16.1 innings this season, and he's converted all 11 of his save opportunities.

Miller allowed two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out one over one inning in Monday's 9-7 win over the Cubs.
Miller's outing, a non-save situation, got off to an unfortunate start when a Matt Shaw dribbler down the third-base line was ruled fair before the Cubs strung together two more hits and scored two runs, though Miller was able to limit the damage and secure the win. The appearance snapped the hard-throwing right-hander's streak of 34.2 scoreless innings, which dated back to last season and set a franchise record. The 27-year-old's numbers in 2026 remain dominant, as he owns a 1.26 ERA and 0.56 WHIP with a 28:2 K:BB and 10 saves across 14.1 innings.

Padres' Mason Miller: Earns 10th save
Miller threw a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks. He did not record a strikeout.
Miller was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth and did so on 13 pitches. According to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com, the right-hander now holds the Padres' record for the longest regular-season scoreless streak at 34.2 innings, which ranks eighth in major-league history among relievers. Of that stretch, 13.1 frames have come in 2026, and Miller is a perfect 10-for-10 in save chances with a 0.38 WHIP and a ridiculous 27:2 K:BB to open the campaign.

Miller picked up the save Thursday against the Rockies, allowing one hit and no walks with no strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning.
It was the first time in 12 outings this year that Miller was unable to fan a batter, but he still has a remarkable 19.7 K/9. Other than that blemish, the hard-throwing right-hander continues to be nearly untouchable. Miller, who's now up to an MLB-high nine saves in 2026, hasn't given up a run since Aug. 5 of last year, firing 33.2 consecutive scoreless frames in the regular season to tie Cla Meredith's franchise record.

Miller made quick work of the Angels, retiring the side on 13 pitches to secure a series win for the Padres. Sunday marked the right-hander's second save in as many days and his eighth of the season, giving him sole possession of the MLB lead.
