Athletics' Greg Deichmann: Inks minors deal with Oakland
Deichmann signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Thursday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports.
Deichmann was selected by the A's in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft before getting shipped to the Cubs in 2021 as part of the Andrew Chafin trade. He batted just .214/.271/.335 with seven home runs and eight stolen bases in 78 games last summer at Triple-A Iowa.

Greg Deichmann: Let go by Chicago
The Cubs released Deichmann on Monday.
Deichmann appeared in 14 games for the Cubs in the second half of the 2021 campaign, but he's played exclusively at Triple-A Iowa this season after losing his spot on the 40-man roster in late April. The 27-year-old posted a mediocre .606 OPS over 282 plate appearances in the International League, prompting the Cubs to move on from him.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Outrighted to Triple-A
Deichmann cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Deichmann was cast off the 40-man roster Saturday, but he'll remain in the organization. In eight appearances for Iowa this year, he's hit .207 with a double, three RBI, a run and a steal.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Designated for assignment
Deichmann was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Saturday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
The move clears space on the 40-man roster for the Cubs to add Locke St. John. Deichmann has gotten off to a slow start for Triple-A Iowa this season, hitting .207 with a 44.8 percent strikeout rate through eight games.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Sent to Triple-A
Deichmann was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Friday.
Deichmann was fighting for a bench spot at best and won't win one to open the year. He grabbed just four hits while striking out 14 times in 31 plate appearances in his brief debut last season but posted a .274/.388/.435 line at the Triple-A level.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Could earn playing time
Deichmann could see some playing time this season as a left-handed bench option in the outfield, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Deichmann made his MLB debut last season, posting a .133/.161/.133 line across 14 games. The 26-year-old might not carve out a huge role with the Cubs, but with Ian Happ (elbow) recovering from February surgery, there's at least a potential path to some playing time in the early going.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Recalled from Triple-A
Deichmann was recalled by the Cubs on Friday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Deichmann made his big-league debut in early August but failed to impress in a small sample of seven games, going 4-for-23 with eight strikeouts. He owns a modest .714 OPS for Triple-A Iowa in the 27 games since his demotion, so expectations shouldn't be too high for him over the final three series of the season.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Sent to Triple-A
Deichmann was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
The Cubs activated Jason Heyward (finger) from the injured list Sunday, so Deichmann is getting sent down to make room on the roster. The 26-year-old went 4-for-23 with an RBI in seven games at the MLB level and will serve as organizational depth the rest of the season.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Starting again Monday
Deichmann is starting in right field and batting fifth in Monday's game against the Brewers.
Deichmann made his MLB debut Friday and will now be starting for the third time in the team's last four games. The 26-year-old is off to a 2-for-9 start with an RBI. Deichmann may continue to see semi-regular playing time with Jason Heyward (finger) on the injured list and the Cubs turning their focus toward 2022. While he's not considered an elite prospect by any means, Deichmann does offer some power potential and might be worth a flier if he shows some signs of life at the plate.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Takes seat Saturday
Deichmann isn't starting Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Called up for MLB debut
Deichmann was recalled by the Cubs on Friday and will bat fifth and play right field against the White Sox in his major-league debut.
Jason Heyward hit the injured list with finger inflammation in a corresponding move, which should give the 26-year-old Deichmann the opportunity to prove he belongs at the big-league level. Whether or not he can is an open question for now, as he bears many of the markers of a Quad-A player, which one might suspect given his age and lack of MLB experience. Like many players in that category, he has big raw power but not a lot else, as he has contact questions and doesn't offer much in the field or on the basepaths. He encouragingly cut his strikeout rate to 22.8 percent in 67 Triple-A games this season and showed an excellent eye, but his raw pop didn't translate into too much game power, leading to just four homers and a .439 slugging percentage. He may ultimately be little more than a part-time option, but the rebuilding Cubs have every incentive to give him the chance to show he's something more.

Cubs' Greg Deichmann: Heading to Chicago
Deichmann and Daniel Palencia were traded from the Athletics to the Cubs on Monday in exchange for Andrew Chafin, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Deichmann is a 2017 second-round pick who slashed .300/.432/.449 with 13 doubles, four homers, 34 RBI and seven stolen bases through 59 games at Triple-A Las Vegas in 2021. The Cubs will also get Palencia, a starting pitcher who can reportedly hit triple digits on the radar gun. The deal will become official following a review of medical records.

Athletics' Greg Deichmann: Banished to minor-league camp
The Athletics optioned Deichmann to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Deichmann was one of seven players optioned to minor-league camp in the Athletics' first round of roster cuts. The 25-year-old outfielder is expected to spend the majority of the campaign in Las Vegas after he slashed an underwhelming .219/.300/.375 over 340 plate appearances with Double-A Midland in his last minor-league season in 2019.

Athletics' Greg Deichmann: Added to 40-man roster
Deichmann was added to the Athletics' 40-man roster Friday.
Deichmann joined Oakland's 60-man player pool this past season but didn't get the chance to make his major-league debut. The 25-year-old has yet to play above the Double-A level and hasn't produced an above-average batting line above short-season ball, making for a fairly unimpressive resume for a corner outfielder.

Athletics' Greg Deichmann: Makes cut for player pool
Deichmann is included in the 60-man player pool that will report to the Athletics' summer camp, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
The 2017 second-round pick earned accolades from veteran players for his performance during Cactus League play before spring training was suspended, and he'll now have a chance to continue his professional development irrespective of what happens with the 2020 minor-league season. Deichmann did struggle to a .219/.300/.375 line at Double-A Midland last season, so he's not projected to make the Opening Day roster and is instead expected to be part of a pool of up to 30 players slated to continue training at an alternate location during the regular season.

Athletics' Greg Deichmann: Makes strong impression
Deichmann, who hit .261 (6-for-23) across 11 Cactus League games, made a strong impression on the veterans in spring training, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Deichmann is one of the organization's brighter prospects, and while he's projected to start the season at Double-A Midland, Gallegos reports Deichmann could move up to Triple-A Las Vegas quickly if he continues to develop as expected. The 24-year-old came into spring camp with some momentum, as he led the Arizona Fall League with nine home runs across 23 games. Deichmann also went deep twice in spring training and received positive feedback from fellow outfielder Ramon Laureano in particular, who praised Deichmann's compact, efficient swing and called him "a really good offensive player."
