Montes hasn't found a ton of consistency at the plate so far, batting .240 across his first nine big-league games. He has tapped into some power with three homers and a double among his six hits, giving him eight RBI and four runs scored as well. Montes topped 30 homers both this year and in 2025 in the minors as he's made a quick ascent to the majors. He'll be in contention to be the Mariners' starting right fielder in 2027, but he could end up in a platoon role if his strikeout rate remains excessively high.

Montes will make the leap to the big leagues after slashing .274/.369/.571 with 13 home runs and three stolen bases in 44 games since being bumped up from Double-A Arkansas to Triple-A in early July. The 21-year-old bats from the left side of the plate and has been a full-time right fielder and designated hitter in the minors this season, so he could end up occupying the strong side of a platoon with Taylor Ward, who has mustered a lowly .371 OPS since being acquired from the Orioles on Aug. 3.
