Athletics' Leo De Vries: Nets invite to spring training
The Athletics have extended De Vries an invitation to big-league spring training.
The Athletics also invited Jamie Arnold and Gage Jump, among others, to major-league camp. Acquired from the Padres in the trade that sent Mason Miller to San Diego, De Vries slashed .255/.355/.451 with 15 home runs, 11 stolen bases and a 66:107 BB:K over 118 games between the High-A and Double-A levels in 2025. De Vries' best production came after a late-season promotion to Double-A Midland, and he'll likely head back there to begin the 2026 season. Just 19 years old, De Vries is not a finished product but has some of the highest upside of any position player in the minors.

Athletics' Leo De Vries: On fire at Double-A
De Vries went 2-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's playoff game for Double-A Midland against Amarillo.
He hit an opposite-field home run in his first career playoff at-bat Tuesday and has six homers in his last nine games for the RockHounds. De Vries, one of the best prospects to get traded at the trade deadline in recent memory, slashed .281/.359/.551 with five home runs, two steals, a 144 wRC+ and a 19.4 percent strikeout rate in 21 regular-season games at Double-A as an 18-year-old. The uber-talented switch hitter appears to be on the fast track to the big leagues and figures to be Jacob Wilson's double-play partner by late 2026 or early 2027.

Athletics' Leo De Vries: Moving up to Double-A
De Vries was promoted to Double-A Midland on Sunday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
De Vries will move up a level in the Athletics' minor-league system after combining to bat .249 with 10 home runs, 58 RBI, 55 runs scored and nine stolen bases over 366 at-bats between High-A Fort Wayne and High-A Lansing this season. The 18-year-old is considered to be the team's top overall prospect, and he'll now get the chance to dip his toe into the Double-A level before the conclusion of the 2025 campaign.

Athletics' Leo De Vries: Monster performance with new club
De Vries went 3-for-4 with a triple, two home runs, five RBI, an additional run scored and a walk Friday with High-A Lansing.
De Vries turned in his first standout performance since joining the Athletics organization, piling up three extra-base hits and driving in five of Lansing's 11 runs. Acquired as the centerpiece of the blockbuster deadline trade that sent Mason Miller to San Diego, the 18-year-old prospect has batted .229/.316/.458 with a .774 OPS, a double, two triples, two homers, 11 RBI and a stolen base across 13 games. Though still early in his pro journey, De Vries has the skill set and upside to become a key piece of the Athletics' future.

Athletics' Leo De Vries: Shipped to A's in blockbuster
De Vries was traded from the Padres to the Athletics on Thursday along with three pitchers from San Diego in exchange for Mason Miller and JP Sears, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
De Vries is one of baseball's top prospects, but he is over a year away from the major leagues. He isn't a lock to stick at shortstop, and now that he is in the same organization as Jacob Wilson (forearm), it's safe to assume De Vries will end up at second base long term. De Vries has slashed .245/.357/.410 with eight home runs, eight steals, a 14.1 percent walk rate and a 19.6 percent strikeout in 82 games as the youngest player at High-A.
