Top Nick Davila News

  • Mariners' Nick Davila: Nabs first career save

Davila allowed an unearned run on one hit and a hit-by-pitch while striking out one in the 10th inning Tuesday to record his first career save in a 6-5 win over the Orioles.

Recalled from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day, Davila got the call after Jose Ferrer blew a save chance in the ninth and Randy Arozarena launched a two-run homer in the top of the 10th. Davila nearly blew his save chance too, but he got bailed out after letting the phantom runner come home when Blaze Alexander was thrown out at the plate. The rookie right-hander has yet to give up an earned run for Seattle in eight appearances and 8.1 innings this season, but his 5:6 K:BB highlights how fragile that modest success has been. He's unlikely to see regular high-leverage work behind closer Andres Munoz, Ferrer and Matt Brash.

  • Mariners' Nick Davila: Up from Tacoma

The Mariners recalled Davila from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Davila will return to the big leagues as the roster replacement for Cooper Criswell (shoulder), who landed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday. Davila has fired 7.1 shutout innings with the Mariners this season, though he's done so while posting a 4:6 K:BB. He'll likely be limited to middle-relief duty while with Seattle.

  • Mariners' Nick Davila: Sent back to minors

The Mariners optioned Davila to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Davila hasn't allowed a run in his first 7.1 big-league innings, but a 4:6 K:BB over that stretch points to trouble down the road. The 27-year-old is heading out in order to free roster space for the return of Gabe Speier (shoulder).

  • Mariners' Nick Davila: Joining big club

The Mariners selected Davila's contract from Double-A Arkansas on Saturday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports

Davila will make the jump to the majors directly from Double-A after giving up just two earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters across nine innings. He'll presumably take on a middle-relief role while with the Mariners and will be making his MLB debut if/when he gets into a game.

  • Mariners' Nick Davila: Back with Mariners as NRI

The Mariners re-signed Davila to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Davila spent the 2025 campaign at Double-A Arkansas, posting a 3.55 ERA and 40:22 K:BB over 50.2 innings. He'll turn 27 later this month and will likely begin the 2026 season in the bullpen at Triple-A Tacoma.
