Astros' Cam Smith: Sent to Houston in Tucker trade
The Astros acquired Smith, Isaac Paredes and Hayden Wesneski from the Cubs on Friday in exchange for Kyle Tucker, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
The 14th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Smith debuted in pro ball with a .313/.396/.609 slash line and seven home runs over 32 games across three levels. He finished the year at Double-A Tennessee and will likely begin the 2025 campaign at Double-A Corpus Christi, with a debut by late 2025 or 2026 possible.

Cubs' Cam Smith: Receives another promotion
The Cubs promoted Smith from High-A South Bend to Double-A Tennessee on Monday, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.
South Bend's season came to an end Sunday, but Smith will get the opportunity to play on for at least another two weeks while he links up with Tennessee. The No. 14 overall pick of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft has gotten off to a stellar start to his professional career with a combined .323/.412/.635 slash line and a 14:21 BB:K over 114 plate appearances between South Bend and Single-A Myrtle Beach.

Cubs' Cam Smith: Dominant start to pro career
Smith was promoted from Single-A Myrtle Beach to High-A South Bend on Tuesday.
The 14th overall pick in this year's draft, Smith hit .313 with six homers in 15 games at Single-A, so it was time for more of a challenge. He's hitting .500 with one double, two strikeouts and one walk in two games at High-A.
