Kuroda-Grauer had been out since suffering a testicular contusion July 20 against the Diamondbacks. He got surgery to address the testicle that was ruptured and was able to start rehab in the middle of August. As the young prospect returns to action Tuesday, the Athletics placed Max Muncy (knee) on the 10-day injured list and transferred J.T. Ginn (elbow) to the 60-injured list in corresponding moves.

All three knocks were singles, but the rookie infielder was still the only Athletic to collect multiple hits on the night as the team managed just seven hits in total against Detroit pitching. Kuroda-Grauer has started eight straight contests since his promotion while bouncing between second base, third base and shortstop, batting a blistering .500 (15-for-30) to begin his big-league career with three doubles, an RBI, four runs and just two strikeouts.
Kuroda-Grauer will start at shortstop and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Kuroda-Grauer will stick in the starting nine for a sixth straight game since receiving a promotion from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, this time covering shortstop after making his previous three starts at third base and the two before that at the keystone. With Zack Gelof (hand) coming back from the injured list Saturday and potentially settling in as the Athletics' primary option at the hot corner, shortstop could represent Kuroda-Grauer's clearest path to playing time until Jacob Wilson (thumb) is ready to be activated. The Athletics will send Alika Williams to the bench to open up shortstop for Kuroda-Grauer, who has gotten off to a hot start to his big-league career by going 8-for-18 with two doubles, three runs and one RBI.

Kuroda-Grauer could also push fellow right-handed hitters Alika Williams and Darell Hernaiz for time at shortstop until Jacob Wilson (thumb) returns. In 75 games this season between Double-A Midland and Las Vegas, Kuroda-Grauer has slashed .323/.367/.478 with seven home runs, 15 stolen bases and a 21:29 BB:K. The 23-year-old has mostly played shortstop and second base, but he also has experience at third base and has played a bit in the outfield, as well. Kuroda-Grauer will start at second base and bat ninth Monday versus the Dodgers in his major-league debut.
