  • Mariners' Miles Mastrobuoni: Kicks off rehab assignment

Mastrobuoni (calf) went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks in his first rehab game with Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Mastrobuoni has finally been cleared for games after suffering a right calf strain nearly a month ago. It's unclear how many rehab games the Mariners will ask the utility player to play, but it figures to at least be a handful.

  • Mariners' Bryan Woo: Stuck with first loss

Woo (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Rangers, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two.

Woo pitched well for the most part Wednesday, holding Texas off the board through four innings. However, he'd run into trouble in the fifth, allowing three consecutive one-out hits before giving up a pair of runs on a Connor Joe error. The Rangers would tack on a third run in the frame on a Corey Seager sacrifice fly. While he remains without a win through three starts, Woo's gotten off to another strong start in 2026, allowing just three earned runs on 10 hits and four walks while striking out 17 over 18 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Padres on the road in his next outing.

  • Mariners' Colt Emerson: Rejoins Triple-A lineup

Emerson (foot) started at shortstop and went 2-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and an RBI on Tuesday in Triple-A Tacoma's 1-0 win over Sugar Land.

Emerson suffered a right foot injury while playing in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, but he needed just a couple of days of rest and recovery to move past the issue. The 20-year-old infielder likely isn't far away from making his big-league debut, after he agreed last week with Seattle on an eight-year, $95 million contract extension. Through eight games with Tacoma this season, Emerson is slashing .310/.355/.483 with three extra-base hits across 32 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' Luke Raley: Idle against left-hander

Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

After starting in each of the Mariners' last four games and going 3-for-14 with a double and a 1:8 BB:K, Raley will retreat to the bench for the series finale. Each of those four starts came against right-handed pitching, but the left-handed-hitting Raley will likely be held out of the lineup more often than not when Seattle faces southpaws. Rob Refsnyder will replace Raley in right field Wednesday while lefty MacKenzie Gore takes the hill for Texas.

  • Mariners' Leo Rivas: Playing time trending down

Rivas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Rivas had drawn starts at either shortstop or third base in 10 of the Mariners' first 11 games, but he'll remain on the bench for a second day in a row as Seattle closes out its series in Arlington. With J.P. Crawford recently returning from a stint on the injured list and expected to handle a near-everyday role at shortstop moving forward, Rivas' opportunities will likely be limited now that Seattle has all of its key infielders available.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Handed off day Wednesday

Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

With southpaw MacKenzie Gore on the bump for Texas in an afternoon game after a night game, the Mariners will give the left-handed-hitting Naylor his first day off of the season. Connor Joe was called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday and will immediately enter the starting nine as Naylor's replacement at first base.

  • Mariners' Carlos Vargas: Moved to 60-day IL

The Mariners transferred Vargas (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

The transaction will clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of outfielder/first baseman Connor Joe, who was called up from Triple-A Tacoma. Vargas has been out all season while recuperating from a right lat strain and now won't be eligible to return until late May. It's not clear whether Vargas has resumed throwing or remains shut down.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Shelved with pec strain

The Mariners placed Robles on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a right pectoral strain.

Robles had served as Seattle's fourth outfielder to begin the season, starting in four of the team's first 12 games while going 3-for-13 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI. According to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, Robles suffered the pec injury while making longer throws to the bases from the outfield as he was warming up prior to Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers. Seattle called up Connor Joe from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move to provide the bench with another right-handed-hitting option while Robles is on the shelf.

  • Mariners' Connor Joe: Contract selected

The Mariners selected Joe's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

He'll assume the roster spot vacated by Victor Robles (pectoral), who landed on the 10-day injured list. The right-handed-hitting Joe has a solid .247/.344/.401 career batting line versus left-handed pitching and should see some playing time versus southpaws with the Mariners.

  • Mariners' George Kirby: Tosses eight innings, takes loss

Kirby (1-2) took the loss against the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four across eight innings. He did not issue a walk.

Kirby ended up being the only pitcher deployed by the Mariners during Tuesday's game, tossing 68 strikes in 90 pitches (75.6 percent) while inducing 12 groundouts. He kept the Rangers off the board for the majority of his start but gave up three runs in the fifth inning, including a two-run homer to Kyle Higashioka that was enough for Kirby to take the loss since his teammates failed to generate any more runs. Kirby has recorded a quality start in each of his first three appearances of the season and has a 3.60 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB across 20 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, which is slated for next week at home against the Astros.

  • Mariners' Brendan Donovan: Belts leadoff homer Tuesday

Donovan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk during the Mariners' 3-2 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.

Donovan wasted no time getting the Mariners on the board, taking the first pitch of the game from Nathan Eovaldi deep to right field for a solo shot. It was Donovan's third home run of the season, and he appears to be past the groin injury that caused him to miss the Mariners' final two games of the weekend series against the Angels. He has gone 12-for-35 (.343) with a steal and five RBI to open the season.

  • Mariners' Grant Knipp: Targeting June debut

Knipp (elbow) is tentatively slated to return to game action in June, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports.

Knipp underwent Tommy John surgery in early 2025 after dealing with elbow inflammation in spring training. The 24-year-old righty has yet to make his pro debut after being selected in the sixth round of the 2024 draft.

  • Mariners' Marcelo Perez: On shelf at Double-A

Double-A Arkansas placed Perez on the 7-day injured list April 2 with a forearm strain, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports.

    The 26-year-old righty logged a 4.31 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 28 strikeouts in 56.1 innings at Double-A in 2025.

  • Mariners' Chia-Shi Shen: Out multiple months

Single-A Inland Empire placed Shen on the 60-day injured list March 17 with a right elbow injury, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports.

Mayo reports that Shen will be out until June, but he should be considered out indefinitely given the fact it's an elbow injury that will require at least two months to heal. Shen, a 22-year-old righty from Taiwan, logged a 4.67 ERA, 1.18 ERA and 68:14 K:BB in 69.1 innings across the Arizona Complex League and Single-A.

  • Mariners' Teddy McGraw: Elbow barking again

McGraw is working his way back from right elbow issues, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports.

McGraw's inability to stay healthy has defined his pro career thus far. Selected in the third round of the 2023 draft, McGraw has thrown just 37 innings in pro ball due to consistent elbow injuries -- he had Tommy John surgery in 2019 and internal brace in 2023.

  • Mariners' Griffin Hugus: Pro debut delayed

Hugus recently had Tommy John surgery after injuring his elbow in spring training, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports.

Per Mayo, Seattle was excited about how Hugus looked early in camp before he blew out his right elbow. Hugus was selected with the 91st pick in last year's draft and will have to wait until 2027 for his pro debut.
