Top 76ers News

  • 76ers' Quentin Grimes: Leads second unit in return

Grimes (illness) tallied 14 points (5-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one block across 29 minutes Thursday in the 76ers' 117-107 loss to the Hawks.

Grimes had missed the 76ers' final two games prior to the All-Star break while recovering from an illness, but he was able to reprise his normal role as the club's sixth man in its first game of the second half. The 25-year-old paced the second unit in scoring and made a rare contribution in the blocks category. With Paul George (suspension) out until March 25, Grimes should be able to maintain a 25-to-30-minute role off the bench, but fantasy managers in 12-team leagues or shallower should view him mainly as a streaming option for three-pointers and free-throw percentage rather than a must-roster player.

  • 76ers' Dominick Barlow: Muted effort in loss

Barlow finished Thursday's 117-107 loss to the Hawks with one point (0-3 FG, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, three blocks and one steal in 22 minutes.

Barlow had quite the dud Thursday, but Trendon Watford wasn't much better off the bench for the 76ers. With Joel Embiid (knee, shin) sidelined, it was Kelly Oubre, Andre Drummond and Adem Bona who stepped up the most for Philadelphia.

  • 76ers' Kelly Oubre: Notches 17 points in loss

Oubre chipped in 17 points (4-13 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 9-11 FT), three rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals across 32 minutes during Thursday's 117-107 loss to the Hawks.

Oubre saw a ton of usage for the 76ers with Joel Embiid (knee, shin) sidelined, but he couldn't find his rhythm from the field. Based on his workload and shot touches alone, he'll have obvious streaming appeal in the short term.

  • 76ers' Johni Broome: Rejoins parent club

The 76ers recalled Broome from the G League's Delaware Blue Coats on Friday, Derek Bodner of AllPHLY.com reports.

Broome will rejoin Philadelphia ahead of its upcoming Saturday/Sunday road back-to-back set in New Orleans and Minnesota, respectively. The rookie big man suited up for the G League squad Thursday in a 127-120 win over the Maine Celtics, finishing with 26 points (11-19 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and one steal in 36 minutes.

  • 76ers' VJ Edgecombe: Adds 20 points in loss

Edgecombe provided 20 points (7-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), nine rebounds, one block and one steal across 34 minutes during Thursday's 117-107 loss to the Hawks.

Edgecombe got off to a strong start, scoring 11 of his 20 points in the first quarter. While he finished as Philadelphia's second-leading scorer and reached the 20-point threshold for the 13th time this season, the rookie also logged a game-worst six turnovers. On a more positive note, Edgecombe was much more efficient compared to his previous six appearances this month, during which he shot 37.5 percent from the field and 22.9 percent from beyond the arc. He also grabbed at least nine boards for the second time this month.

  • 76ers' Andre Drummond: Secures double-double in spot start

Drummond ended with 10 points (4-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 14 rebounds, three assists and two blocks over 28 minutes during Thursday's 117-107 loss to the Hawks.

With Joel Embiid (shin/knee) unavailable for a third consecutive contest, Drummond got the starting nod ahead of Adem Bona (20 minutes). Drummond grabbed a game-high 14 boards en route to his second double-double in four February appearances and his 13th of the campaign. He also swatted two shots for the second time over his last three outings. The veteran big man has started three games this month and would likely continue to split the center minutes with Bona if Embiid is unable to play Saturday against New Orleans.

  • 76ers' Tyrese Maxey: Drops 28 points in defeat

Maxey supplied 28 points (8-23 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 39 minutes during Thursday's 117-107 loss to Atlanta.

While Maxey wasn't able to post 30-plus points for a third straight game and didn't deliver his most efficient performance, he still led the Sixers in scoring. The star point guard has reached the 25-point mark in five consecutive contests, and he knocked down more than three triples for the first time since Feb. 2. Over seven February appearances, he has averaged 26.9 points, 5.3 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals per contest. Maxey tallied his first block of the month Thursday and has now recorded a steal in each of his last nine outings.

  • 76ers' Andre Drummond: Starting sans Embiid

Drummond will start against the Hawks on Thursday, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports.

With Joel Embiid (shin/knee) sidelined, Drummond will get the starting nod Thursday. As a starter this season (19 games), the veteran big man has averaged 8.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 26.1 minutes per tilt.

  • 76ers' Adem Bona: Not starting Thursday

Bona is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Hawks, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports.

The 76ers are instead rolling with Andre Drummond in the absence of Joel Embiid (shin/knee) on Thursday. Bona has averaged 4.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 14.2 minutes per tilt in his last eight games off the bench.

  • 76ers' Quentin Grimes: Available Thursday vs. Atlanta

Grimes (illness) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Thursday's game against the Hawks.

Grimes was sidelined for the 76ers' last two games before the All-Star break while working through an illness, but his absence from the injury report indicates that he'll return Thursday. He has averaged 9.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 threes and 0.9 steals over 26.6 minutes per game since the new year.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Dealing with shin injury

Embiid has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Hawks due to right shin soreness and right knee injury management, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports.

Embiid was held out of the 76ers' final two games before the All-Star break due to right knee injury management. However, a shin issue cropped up over the break, so Embiid will be held out of Thursday's contest with the hopes that he'll be available to return against the Pelicans on Saturday. Adem Bona and Andre Drummond will continue to cover most of the minutes at center in Embiid's absence.

  • 76ers' Tyrese Martin: Joining Sixers on two-way pact

Martin agreed Monday with the 76ers on a two-way contract, Derek Bodner of AllPHLY.com reports.

Philadelphia will reserve its vacant two-way roster spot for Martin after converting Jabari Walker to a standard deal. The addition of Martin bolsters the 76ers' depth on the wing, but he's more likely to see most of his playing time in the G League with the Delaware Blue Coats. Before being cut loose by the Nets earlier this season, Martin averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 18.8 minutes per contest over 37 appearances.

  • 76ers' Jabari Walker: Upgraded to standard contract

Walker agreed to a two-year, $3.35 million contract with the 76ers on Monday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Walker had been signed to a two-way deal with Philadelphia, but because he had exhausted his eligibility at the NBA level after he was active for the maximum 50 games, the 76ers upgraded him to a standard contract to ensure that he'll be available coming out of the All-Star break. Before using up his eligibility and not appearing in any of the 76ers' last four games, Walker had been a fringe member of the rotation. In his 45 appearances (six starts) so far this season, Walker averaged 3.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 12.1 minutes per game.

  • 76ers' Cameron Payne: Catches on with 76ers

Payne agreed Monday with the 76ers on a one-year contract, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.

The 31-year-old guard will return for his 11th NBA season after he had thus far spent the 2025-26 campaign overseas in Europe with Serbian club KK Partizan following the Pacers' decision to waive him during the preseason. Payne will bring plenty of experience and added depth to the 76ers' backcourt, but he's uncertain to emerge as a regular part of head coach Nick Nurse's rotation.

  • 76ers' MarJon Beauchamp: Scores 14 in G League Next Up Game

Beauchamp closed with 14 points (6-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two assists and two rebounds across eight minutes during Team White's 37-25 win over Team Blue in the G League Next Up Game semifinals Sunday.

Beauchamp turned in an efficient game-high 14 points in the semifinals to lead his team to the championship game, when he provided eight points (2-2 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT) in nine minutes during a 31-29 loss to Team Black. The two-way player has appeared in just two outings for the 76ers this season, during which he has averaged 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 18.0 minutes per contest. Over 21 G League outings with the Delaware Blue Coats in 2025-26, the 2022 first-rounder has averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals in 37.2 minutes per contest.

  • 76ers' VJ Edgecombe: Named Rising Stars MVP

Edgecombe was named the Rising Stars MVP on Friday and posted six points (2-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one steal across nine minutes in Team Vince's 25-24 win over Team Melo in the championship game.

Edgecombe closed the championship game with a pair of free throws to seal the victory and led his squad with six points. The rookie first-rounder also paced Team Vince in its 41-36 win over Team T-Mac in the semifinals, hitting the game-winning jumper and posting 17 points (6-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and one assist over 13 minutes.
