  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Not returning Thursday

Higbee (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday's game at San Francisco, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. For a second week in a row, Higbee was listed as a full participant on all three Rams injury reports, but the team isn't quite ready to clear him for his first game action since Jan. 14, when he suffered ACL and MCL tears in his right knee in a playoff loss at Detroit. Los Angeles has one week remaining to activate Higbee from the reserve/PUP list, or else he'll miss the entire 2024 campaign. In the meantime, Colby Parkinson, Hunter Long and Davis Allen (shoulder) will continue to serve as the Rams' tight ends.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Full participant Tuesday

Higbee (knee) was listed as a full participant on Tuesday's practice estimate, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Higbee has practiced in full the last two weeks but is still waiting to make his 2024 season debut after tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee last January and undergoing surgery. If Higbee misses Thursday's game versus San Francisco, Colby Parkinson and Hunter Long could serve as the Rams' tight ends. The Rams also have Davis Allen on the roster, but he's been listed as a non-participant in the team's first two Week 15 practice reports due to a shoulder injury.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Listed as full Monday

Higbee (knee) was listed as a full participant on Monday's practice estimate, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Higbee now has received such a listing on five consecutive Rams injury reports stretching back to Week 13 prep as he seeks his first game action since suffering ACL and MCL tears in his right knee back on Jan. 14. Coach Sean McVay touched on Higbee on Monday, telling Stu Jackson of the team's official site, "We'll see," regarding whether or not the tight end will make his season debut Thursday at San Francisco. "I don't have a great sense of it," McVay added. "That was always something we left open as a possibility, but certainly don't want to rush it." Higbee has more than a week remaining in his 21-day window in which to be evaluated for a potential activation from the reserve/PUP list, so a decision may not be imminent.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Won't play this week

Rams coach Sean McVay said Friday that Higbee (knee) will not be activated for Sunday's game against the Bills, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports. McVay didn't comment on expectations for a key game against the 49ers four days later. Higbee has been a full practice participant since last Friday, but the Rams are taking things slow due to the severity of his injury (ACL and MCL tears suffered Jan. 14). Davis Allen, Colby Parkinson and Hunter Long have formed a committee at tight end in recent weeks.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Another full practice Wednesday

Higbee (knee) was a full practice participant Wednesday. Going back to last week, Higbee now has put together two straight uncapped sessions as he seeks his first game action since suffering ACL and MCL tears in his right knee back on Jan. 14. His return isn't expected to happen Sunday versus the Bills, as head coach Sean McVay relayed Monday that Higbee was "less likely than likely" to be available for that contest, per Cameron DaSilva of USA Today. As long as Higbee remains on the reserve/PUP list, the trio of Davis Allen, Colby Parkinson and Hunter Long will serve as the Rams' tight ends.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Unlikely to play Week 14

Higbee (knee) isn't expected to play next Sunday versus Buffalo, Cameron DaSilva of RamsWire reports. On Monday, head coach Sean McVay deemed Higbee's chances of suiting up Week 14 as "less than likely," so fantasy managers shouldn't expect to have the tight end back for Sunday's battle against the Bills. Higbee is waiting to make his season debut, as he's spent the season up to this point on the reserve/PUP list after tearing his ACL and MCL in a wild-card loss to the Lions in mid-January. While Higbee has been out, Davis Allen has worked as Los Angeles' top tight end, with Colby Parkinson and Hunter Long chipping in behind him. Higbee was designated to return Nov. 27, so the Rams have until Dec. 17 to activate him before his 21-day practice window closes.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Season debut still on hold

Higbee (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints, Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Higbee won't make his season debut Sunday, leaving Davis Allen and Colby Parkinson as the Rams' top two tight ends against New Orleans. The 31-year-old Higbee managed to notch a full practice Friday, suggesting he's closing in on a return as he works his way back from a torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs. Higbee could return to game action in Week 14 against the Bills.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Another limited listing

Higbee (knee) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice report, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. The Rams designated Higbee for return from the reserve/PUP list Wednesday, which was the first step as the team prepares to get their No. 1 TE back in the lineup for the first time since he suffered ACL and MCL tears in his right knee during a playoff loss at Detroit on Jan. 14. So far, he's been listed as limited on both Week 13 injury reports, but coach Sean McVay told Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com on Tuesday that he doesn't believe Higbee will be activated in time for Sunday's game at New Orleans. Friday's practice report may provide a ruling on that front.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Practice window opens

The Rams designated Higbee (knee) for return from the reserve/PUP list Wednesday. This transaction follows comments from head coach Sean McVay on Tuesday that Higbee was in line to return to practice this week, per Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com. At the same time, McVay relayed that Higbee is unlikely to play Sunday at New Orleans. The Rams will likely take a cautious approach with Higbee, who suffered ACL and MCL tears in his right knee back on Jan. 14 in a playoff loss in Detroit. With his 21-day window in which to get back on the active roster opened, he's drawing closer to making his season debut.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Likely to practice this week

Rams head coach Sean McVay said Higbee (knee) is likely to resume practicing this week, but the tight end is unlikely to play in Sunday's game at New Orleans, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Los Angeles is expected to formally open Higbee's 21-day evaluation window Wednesday, when the team begins Week 13 prep. Higbee has been on the PUP list since late August after he suffered an ACL and MCL tear in his right knee in a Jan. 14 playoff loss to the Lions. After a lengthy recovery from surgery, the 31-year-old is finally ready to take reps in practice, but he could require a multi-week ramp-up period before he's deemed ready for game action. Once he's added back to the 53-man roster, Higbee will likely take over as the Rams' starting tight end, though he could be deployed in a timeshare with Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen as the coaching staff looks to keep Higbee's snap counts in check coming off the major knee injury.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Couple weeks away from returning

Head coach Sean McVay said Friday that Higbee (knee) is "a couple weeks away" from making his return, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Higbee's making progress in his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL suffered in last season's playoffs, but his return to game action is still multiple weeks in the future. Once he's cleared to come off the reserve/PUP list, Higbee presumably will require a ramp-up period in practice before he's ready to make his season debut. Davis Allen has taken over as the Rams' top tight end in recent weeks, leapfrogging Colby Parkinson on the depth chart.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Opening season on PUP list

Higbee (knee) will be on the reserve/PUP list to start the regular season, making him ineligible for at least the first four games, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. This was expected after Higbee suffered an ACL and MCL tear in his right knee during a playoff loss to the Lions on Jan. 14. He's been on the active/PUP list since the start of training camp, with no real updates on his progress. With Higbee out for at least four games and possibly longer, free-agent signing Colby Parkinson is the leader of a TE room that also includes Davis Allen and Hunter Long.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Beginning camp on PUP list

Coach Sean McVay said Tuesday that Higbee (knee) will start training camp on the active/PUP list, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports. Higbee's placement on the PUP list figures to be made official without much delay. The veteran tight end remains without a timeline for his return as he works his way back from a torn ACL and MCL suffered back in January. Higbee can come off the active/PUP list at any time through camp and the preseason, but if he ends up on the reserve/PUP list after final roster cuts are made, he'll be required to miss at least the first four games of the regular season.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Timetable for return TBD

Higbee (knee) remains without a timetable to return, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports. Higbee suffered ACL and MCL tears during a wild-card loss to the Lions on Jan. 14, and the timing of the injury makes it likely that he'll start training camp on the PUP list. If he's unavailable at the start of the season, the Rams will rely onColby Parkinson, Davis Allen and Hunter Long at tight end.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Recovering from torn ACL and MCL

Head coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that Higbee will require surgery to address a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports. McVay mentioned that Higbee could be a candidate to start on the PUP list this summer, as the Rams haven't settled on a firm timeline for when the tight end might be ready to resume on-field work. Given the mid-January timing and severity of Higbee's injury, he could have difficultly gaining clearance for the start of training camp in late July, if not the start of the 2024 regular season entirely. Normally, recovery from a torn ACL entails a 6-to-9-month recovery timeline, but Higbee faces the additional hurdle of rehabbing from a MCL tear. Davis Allen, a 2023 fifth-round pick, could be in position to see additional offseason opportunities as long as Higbee remains absent while recovering from surgery.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Torn ACL confirmed

Higbee was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee following an MRI on Monday, ESPN.com reports. Higbee suffered the devastating knee injury in the fourth quarter of the Rams' 24-23 wild-card playoff loss to the Lions on Sunday, when he was on the receiving end of a low hit from Detroit safety Kerby Joseph. The 31-year-old tight end -- who finished the regular season with 47 catches for 495 yards and two touchdowns on 70 targets over 15 games -- now will embark on an arduous rehab process that could extend into the start of the 2024 campaign. At the very least, Higbee won't be ready to participate in OTAs in the spring and could be hard-pressed to get cleared for the start of training camp in late July, given the 6-to-9-month recovery timeline typically associated with ACL surgeries.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Torn ACL feared, MRI coming

Higbee (knee) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm what is feared to be a torn ACL sustained during Sunday's 24-23 wild-card loss to the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Higbee suffered a nasty right leg injury late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss due to a low tackle from Detroit safety Kerby Joseph on the Rams' final drive of the night. If an MRI confirms a severe injury for the veteran tight end, Higbee's recovery timetable could significantly impact his availability for the start of the 2024 campaign, for which he remains under contract with Los Angeles. Across 15 regular-season appearances this season, Higbee remained a steady contributor despite occasionally lackluster QB play, compiling 47 catches for 495 yards and two scores on 70 targets.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Suiting up Sunday

Higbee (shoulder) is listed as active for Sunday's wild-card contest at Detroit, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Higbee put together three limited practices this week, which was enough for coach Sean McVay to tell reporters Friday that the tight end should be available to play Sunday, per Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site. Indeed, Higbee is back in action after dislocating his left shoulder during Week 17 action. He'll be taking on a Lions defense that has allowed the 10th-most yards per target (7.7) to opposing tight ends this season.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Status in question for Sunday

Coach Sean McVay said Higbee (shoulder) will be questionable for Sunday's wild-card game at Detroit, Greg Beacham of the Associated Press reports. Higbee sat out Week 18 in San Francisco due to a dislocated left shoulder that he suffered one week prior, but since returning to drills Wednesday, he managed a pair of limited sessions before McVay's comments Friday. McVay added that Higbee should be OK to play this weekend, which won't be confirmed until about 90 minutes before Sunday's 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Rams' Tyler Higbee: Limited Wednesday

Higbee (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Higbee wasn't able to practice at all last week after sustaining a dislocated left shoulder Week 17 against the Giants, so his return to drills this week marks the first noticeable progress in his recovery. His status will continued to be monitored Thursday and Friday to see if he has a chance to return to action for Sunday's wild-card contest in Detroit. If Higbee is sidelined this weekend or limited in any fashion, Davis Allen and Brycen Hopkins are the candidates to fill at tight end for the Rams.
