  • Patriots' Jacoby Brissett: Leads offense effectively

Brissett completed 15 of 27 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss to the Seahawks. He added two rushes for six yards. The Patriots have relied upon Rhamondre Stevenson heavily in the first two games, limiting Brissett to a combined 51 attempts. Brissett was effective when called upon Sunday, however, and showed strong rapport with Hunter Henry in the short areas of the field. He also recorded his first touchdown of the season on a five-yard connection with Ja'Lynn Polk. Due to limited volume and a conservative game plan, Brissett isn't well-suited for fantasy production, but he's proven capable of running a competent offense early in the campaign.

  • Patriots' Jacoby Brissett: Quiet in Week 1 win

Brissett completed 15 of 24 passes for 121 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed seven times for 32 yards in the Patriots' 16-10 win over the Bengals on Sunday. The veteran signal-caller played the ultimate game-manager role in a contest dominated by Rhamondre Stevenson and the Patriots defense. Brissett connected with seven different targets overall, but his longest completion went for 17 yards, and he averaged just 5.0 yards per attempt overall. New head coach Jerod Mayo would likely take as many low-scoring victories that rely heavily on his ground attack and defensive unit as he can get, but Brissett has the experience to step up his contributions through the air when called upon. The Patriots will look to capitalize on a Seahawks team that will travel across the country to face them Week 2 next Sunday, another game in which Brissett may be able to fill more of a complementary role.

  • Patriots' Jacoby Brissett: Injury not serious

Coach Jerod Mayo downplayed Brissett's shoulder injury after a 20-10 preseason loss to Washington on Sunday, saying the QB "would have been able to continue" if it had been a regular-season game, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Brissett played two more snaps -- and threw a pair of accurate passes -- after hurting his right throwing shoulder when a defender landed on top of him during a sack on the sixth play of the game. Drake Maye came in for the next drive, which Mayo said was the plan beforehand anyway. The rookie then completed 13 of 20 passes for 126 yards and a TD, adding three carries for 17 yards while leading New England to seven points and a missed field goal across five drives. Mayo acknowledged Monday that Maye outplayed Brissett the past few weeks, but the coach also hinted at some hesitancy to start the rookie Week 1, saying, "We've all seen the horror stories of rookie QBs getting thrown to the wolves," per Chad Graff of The Athletic. The Patriots likely will name a starter at some point this week.

  • Patriots' Jacoby Brissett: Struggles in preseason start

Brissett started Thursday's 14-13 preseason loss to the Eagles and completed three of seven passes for 17 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Brissett played the first three drives before giving way to Drake Maye, who led the offense to a field goal on his first possession and added a rushing touchdown later in the second quarter. While Maye is still adjusting to the NFL after being drafted third overall in 2024, it was Brissett who made a rookie mistake on the Patriots' second drive, throwing an interception in the end zone. Brissett's edge in experience (48 regular-season starts) is the reason that he's favored to be New England's Week 1 starter, but he hasn't bolstered his case by completing only three of 10 passes through two preseason games, so the veteran quarterback may still have something to prove in the team's preseason finale against Washington on Aug. 25.

  • Patriots' Jacoby Brissett: Dominating first-team reps

Brissett has taken all the first-team reps during open practices, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports. Third overall pick Drake Maye presumably will have a chance to win the Week 1 starting job, but he may have to wait until training camp to get any reps with the first-team offense. Graff notes that Brissett runs the offense smoothly, having previously worked with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt when both were with the Browns in 2022.

  • Patriots' Jacoby Brissett: Set to compete with Maye

Brissett is in line to compete with newcomer Drake Maye for the Patriots' starting QB job ahead of the upcoming NFL season, Mike Reiss of ESPN reports. Given that New England selected Maye with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, it's only a matter of time before the North Carolina product is installed as the team's starter. That said, it's possible that the rookie begins the season as Brissett's understudy, with coach Jerod Mayo noting Thursday of the Patriots' signal-caller situation that "at the end of the day, our philosophy is the best players will play. We will compete and the best player will start." Brissett rejoined the franchise that drafted him in 2016 on a reported one-year, $8 million deal, providing New England with an experienced option who can either helm the offense until Maye is deemed ready to do so, or alternatively serve as quality backup and mentor to Maye, who doesn't turn 22 until Aug. 30. Meanwhile, 2022 fourth-rounder Bailey Zappe and Nathan Rourke are also on hand to provide the Patriots with QB depth ahead of training camp.

  • Commanders' Jacoby Brissett: Still limited, won't start Week 18

Brissett (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Though he was initially named the Commanders' starting quarterback for Week 17, Brissett was ultimately inactive for Sunday's 27-10 loss to the 49ers due to the hamstring injury he suffered in practice last Thursday. While the fact that Brissett is practicing in some capacity to kick off Week 18 prep is a positive sign, he'll be stuck in a backup role if he's cleared to play in this Sunday's season finale versus the Cowboys. Head coach Ron Rivera has already announced that Sam Howell will retain starting duties for Week 18.

  • Commanders' Jacoby Brissett: Out for Week 17

Brissett (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the 49ers. On Wednesday, head coach Ron Rivera named Brissett the Commanders' starting quarterback for Week 17 after the veteran signal-caller replaced Sam Howell for the second game in a row last weekend and nearly led Washington to a come-from-behind victory in an eventual 30-28 loss to the Jets. Unfortunately for Brissett, he'll have to wait until at least Week 18 against the Cowboys to make his first start, as he told the team Thursday that he was dealing with tightness in his hamstring and was then a limited participant in Friday's practice before carrying a questionable tag into the weekend. Brissett didn't show enough improvement in a pregame workout to give it a go Sunday, so he'll be inactive as the emergency third quarterback while Howell sticks as the Commanders' starter and newly signed Jake Fromm serves as the No. 2 signal-caller.

  • Commanders' Jacoby Brissett: Could be game-time call

Brissett (hamstring) is trending toward being a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Per Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site, Brissett, who had been named the team's Week 17 starting QB on Wednesday, was added to the injury report Friday as questionable after dealing with hamstring tightness. If Brissett is unavailable for Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET contest, Sam Howell will step back in as Washington's starter.

  • Commanders' Jacoby Brissett: Added to injury report as questionable

Brissett was a limited practice participant Friday due to a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports that Brissett informed coaches of his hamstring tightness after team meetings Thursday. The QB got treatment Friday morning and still managed to practice in a limited capacity, but there's now some doubt about his ascension to the starting role, which was announced by coach Ron Rivera on Wednesday. If Brissett ends up unable to play ahead of the Commanders' 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, fellow quarterback Sam Howell will make his 16th start of the season.

  • Commanders' Jacoby Brissett: Named Week 17 starter

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday that Brissett will start Sunday's game against the 49ers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. After coming on to replace the struggling Sam Howell in the third quarter of this past Sunday, Brissett came close to leading Washington to a comeback win before the Commanders ultimately fell to the Jets, 30-28. He made enough of an impression in relief to replace Howell as the team's starting quarterback, with Brissett completing 10 of 13 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. With only two games left in the regular season, Brissett will presumably start Week 18 against the Cowboys, provided he acquits himself well enough versus San Francisco.

  • Commanders' Jacoby Brissett: Provides spark in relief

Brissett completed eight of his 10 passes for 124 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 28-20 loss to the Rams. He added two rushes for nine yards. Brissett entered the game in relief of Sam Howell midway through the fourth quarter with the Commanders down 28-7. He provided an immediate spark to the team's offense, leading a five-play, 67-yard drive that ended in a 29-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin. Brissett had similar success on Washington's next possession, which concluded with a three-yard touchdown toss to Curtis Samuel. Despite Brissett's performance, coach Ron Rivera announced after the game that Sam Howell will remain the team's starter moving forward, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.

  • Commanders' Jacoby Brissett: Solid to finish preseason

Brissett completed 10 of 15 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 21-19 preseason loss to the Bengals. Brissett started and played the first three drives in a game where both teams held out all their key players. The 30-year-old will back up Sam Howell when the Commanders open the regular season Sept. 10 against the Cardinals.

  • Commanders' Jacoby Brissett: Has confidence of coach

Coach Ron Rivera cautioned reporters Tuesday that they shouldn't "sleep on" Brissett, who has done a "nice job" at training camp, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Rivera said back in June that Brissett was in the running for the starting job, even though Sam Howell had been getting all the first-team reps in spring practices. Howell is still dominating those reps during training camp, but at the very least Rivera is making it clear he's confident in his backup, which makes sense given that Brissett's track record places him among the better No. 2 QBs in the league. That reality combined with Howell's lack of experience gives Brissett a decent chance to make starts at some point this season even if Howell seems to have the Week 1 starting assignment all but locked up.

  • Browns' Jacoby Brissett: Gets win in final game as starter

Brissett completed 23 of 37 passes for 210 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the Browns' 23-17 overtime win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also rushed twice for 27 yards. Playing what is expected to be his final game in the starting role before Deshaun Watson's Week 13 debut, Brissett went out on a high note. Although he wasn't as productive from a raw numbers standpoint as other games, Brissett handled himself reasonably well while taking four sacks from an aggressive Buccaneers pass rush. The veteran signal-caller then finished off his day in stellar fashion, recording completions of 17 and 45 yards to Amari Cooper on what turned to be the Browns' game-winning drive. If Watson remains free of injury the rest of the season, then Brissett will have wrapped up his time as a starter in 2022 with a 12:6 TD:INT alongside 2,608 passing yards and an additional 238 rushing yards.

  • Browns' Jacoby Brissett: Week 12 Waiver Priority List

This will likely be Brissett's last start this season since Deshaun Watson is eligible to return from his suspension in Week 13, and hopefully Brissett goes out with a strong performance against Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers have allowed two of their past three opposing quarterbacks to score at least 23 Fantasy points, and seven of their past opposing passers have scored at least 19 points. Brissett just had a season-high 30 Fantasy points against Buffalo in Week 11 and has scored at least 18 points in three games in a row against the Bengals, Dolphins and Bills. He's also run for 69 yards in his past two outings. In deeper leagues, Brissett is a good one-week option and is worth up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Browns' Jacoby Brissett: Stellar numbers in Week 11 loss

Brissett completed 28 of 41 passes for 324 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Browns' 31-23 loss to the Bills on Sunday. He also rushed seven times for 29 yards and lost a fumble. Brissett was clicking with Amari Cooper throughout the afternoon against a tough Bills secondary, hitting the veteran wideout on a team-high eight occasions for 113 yards and touchdown passes of 25 and seven yards. With the Browns falling progressively behind and unable to get anything going on the ground with Nick Chubb, Brissett finished with his second-most pass attempts and highest passing yardage total of the season, as well as his first multi-touchdown effort since Week 3. Brissett has one more game remaining in the starting role -- a Week 12 home matchup against the Buccaneers -- before Deshaun Watson (suspension) takes over in Week 13.

  • Browns' Jacoby Brissett: Browns-Bills game moved to Detroit

Brissett and the Browns are now scheduled to play Sunday's game against the Bills at Ford Field in Detroit at 1 p.m. ET, after the NFL announced Thursday that the game has been moved from Buffalo due to the major snowstorm that's expected to strike Western New York this weekend. The change in venue can probably be seen as nothing but a positive development for all Browns players and their respective fantasy outlooks. Not only will the Browns now have the benefit of playing one of their road games at a neutral-site venue, but they'll have the luxury of playing in a domed stadium, where scoring tends to be higher. Additionally, the move of the Week 11 game to Detroit removes the potential headache fantasy managers might have faced in determining how the inclement weather might affect the passing and running games. Brissett is coming off a Week 10 outing against the Dolphins in which he carried seven times for 40 yards and completed 22 of 35 pass attempts for 212 yards and a touchdown.

  • Browns' Jacoby Brissett: Expected to face adverse weather

Brissett and the Browns will have to navigate a forecasted snowstorm in Buffalo this Sunday, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. The forecast calls for lake-effect snow from Thursday to Sunday, which could total three-to-four feet. That will present a challenge to throw the ball. Brissett was involved a similar game in 2017 in Buffalo when he was with the Colts. In that game, Brissett finished 11-of-22 for 69 yards while Frank Gore toted the rock 36 times. It behooves fantasy managers to monitor the situation and consider making alternative arrangements in terms of Cleveland's skill players involved in the passing game.

  • Browns' Jacoby Brissett: Week 4 Waiver Priority List

Brissett has done a nice job the past two weeks against the Jets and Steelers, and he's averaging 19.0 Fantasy points per game over that span. He should have the chance for another quality outing in Week 4 against the Falcons, and Brissett should be considered a low-end starter in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues where available. He's averaging 21.3 rushing yards per game, and he's getting the ball to his playmakers in Amari Cooper and David Njoku. He's worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB in one-quarterback leagues. In Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, Brissett is worth up to 10 percent of your remaining FAB.
