  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Week 3 status TBD

Coach Doug Pederson noted Monday that there's a degree of optimism with regard to Engram's hamstring issue but acknowledged that it may be a "week-to-week" deal for the tight end. Though Engram was not among the Jaguars' initial inactives prior to Sunday's loss to the Browns, he suffered a setback during warmups and then was deemed out by the team ahead of kickoff time. For now, Pederson indicated that the Jaguars will have to "see where (Engram) is this week," but at this stage the tight end's status for the next Monday's tilt against the Bills is cloudy. If Engram is unavailable Week 3, Brenton Strange and Luke Farrell once again would be in line for added snaps.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Hurts hamstring, won't play

Engram suffered a hamstring injury in pregame warmups and won't play Sunday against the Browns. Engram was not among the team's initial inactives for the contest and wasn't on the Jaguars' Week 2 injury report, but he'll end up sitting out Sunday after suffering the untimely injury. Luke Farrell and Brenton Strange are left as Jacksonville's available tight ends.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)

Engram was dreadful in Week 1 at Miami with one catch for 5 yards on four targets, and he could be tough to trust in Week 2 against Cleveland. There might be too many mouths to feed in Jacksonville, and Engram was limited to 36 snaps, which was his fewest total since Week 4 of 2022. The Browns also were No. 1 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends, so this could be another down game for Engram. It's tough to sit him in most leagues, but don't expect a huge outing in Week 2.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Contrarian DFS Play

The Browns have a great defense, but they aren't particularly tough on tight ends, and I think Trevor Lawrence will be looking to his short area targets more often due to the Browns pass rush. I don't make much of Engram's terrible Week 1 because Trevor Lawrence only threw 22 passes.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Nearly blanked in Week 1 loss

Engram brought in one of four targets for five yards in the Jaguars' 20-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. The veteran tight end came into Week 1 with sky-high expectations due to a pair of offseason departures and his own career-best 2023, but Engram's Week 1 production was an undeniable dud. Trevor Lawrence flashed the most chemistry with newcomers Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas in the loss, and the entire air attack was ineffective as the second half unfolded. Engram will aim to revert to his typically more voluminous workload during a Week 2 visit from the Browns next Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Pair of touchdown grabs

Engram brought in all four of his targets for 28 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 31-0 preseason win over the Falcons. Engram played on two drives, both of which came with Trevor Lawrence. With Christian Kirk (calf) sidelined, Engram was Lawrence's favorite target and caught touchdown receptions of five and six yards. He has failed to top four trips to the end zone in the regular season since his rookie campaign in 2017, but this usage could suggest he'll be a favorite target in the red zone in 2024.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Impresses in joint practices

Engram was a standout during Jacksonville's final joint practice with the Buccaneers on Thursday, Zach Goodall of USA Today reports. Engram connected with quarterback Trevor Lawrence on a deep ball during the final day of joint practices with Tampa Bay, per Goodall. The veteran tight end is coming off a career-best 2023 campaign in which he tallied a 114-963-4 receiving line across 17 regular-season contests, and he remains slated for an integral role in Jacksonville's receiving game. Former top wideout Calvin Ridley departed for Tennessee in free agency, though the Jaguars added veteran Gabe Davis and rookie first-round pick Brian Thomas to the wide receiver corps. Lawrence isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason game against Tampa Bay, meaning Engram will also likely sit out. That will make the Jaguars' Aug. 23 matchup versus the Falcons his final chance to log exhibition action.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Draws 13 targets

Engram recorded 10 receptions on 13 targets for 79 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-20 loss to the Titans. Engram led the team in targets and receptions, marking the third time he's been targeted at least 10 times in his last five games. He didn't post a particularly impressive yardage total with the opportunity, though he did manage his fourth touchdown of the season on a 14-yard catch early in the final quarter. Engram ends the season with an impressive 114 receptions and is penciled into a key role with the Jaguars again in 2024.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Paces pass catchers in win

Engram secured all six targets for 60 yards in the Jaguars' 26-0 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Engram led the Jaguars in receptions and receiving yards in a low-volume day for the C.J. Beathard-helmed passing game. Engram now has at least Sunday's reception and yardage totals in four of the last five games, sending him into a key Week 18 road matchup against the Titans with plenty of momentum.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Generates 14 targets in loss

Engram corralled 10 of 14 targets for 95 yards in Sunday's 30-12 loss to Tampa Bay. Engram generated a season-high mark of 14 targets as the Jaguars played catch-up for nearly the entirety of Sunday's loss. The athletic tight end's strong season continues with a season receiving line of 98/824/3 through 15 games. Engram reached double-digit targets with 95 receiving yards for the second time in three weeks. Jacksonville did lose quarterback Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) to an injury unrelated to the high-ankle sprain he was already playing through, so Engram could be receiving passes from backup C.J. Beathard against the Panthers next Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Contrarian DFS Play

Engram may only be contrarian if C.J. Beathard gets the start for Jacksonville because Tampa Bay provides a great matchup as a bad defense that also gives up a lot of points to tight ends. But I don't mind Beathard at all for Engram. He has a history of feeding George Kittle and has thrown six of his 14 passes to Engram this season.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Reverts to modest production

Engram had four receptions on six targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Ravens. Engram reverted back to his usual form after going off for a combined 20 receptions, 177 yards and three touchdowns over his previous two contests. While that sort of production was unrealistic to expect to continue, fantasy managers were likely hoping for a gradual regression to the mean as opposed what transpired Sunday. Perhaps Engram can meet somewhere in the middle when the Jaguars visit the Buccaneers next Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: TEs to Start

Engram is getting hot at the right time with at least 23.2 PPR points in each of his past two games against the Bengals and Browns. Christian Kirk (groin) was injured against Cincinnati in Week 13, and Engram has 21 targets in his past two outings without Kirk for 20 catches, 175 yards and three touchdowns. The Ravens have also allowed a tight end to score at least 11.8 PPR points in three of their past four games, with two touchdowns over that span.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Two more scores

Engram recorded 11 receptions on 12 targets for 95 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Browns. Engram benefitted from the absence of Christian Kirk (groin) and Jacksonville playing from behind to command a season-high 11 targets. He had primarily short gains, though his longest reception went for 23 yards. Engram also found the end zone from 10 and two yards away, and he's now tallied three touchdowns in his last two games after failing to score over the first 11 contests of the campaign. He'll draw a difficult matchup in Week 15 against the Ravens, though volume should be on his side with Kirk still sidelined.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)

Mark Andrews in Week 4 is the lone tight end to do well against the Browns this season when he scored 25 PPR points. Andrews only scored 6.4 PPR points in the rematch in Week 10, and George Kittle (1.1 PPR points in Week 6), Trey McBride (5.2 PPR points in Week 9) and Pat Freiermuth (1.7 PPR points in Week 11) are notable tight ends to struggle against Cleveland this year. Engram just had his best game of the season in Week 13 against Cincinnati with 23.2 PPR points, and he scored his lone touchdown of the year in that outing. Prior to Week 13, Engram had scored 9.9 PPR points or less in three games in a row, and now Trevor Lawrence (ankle) is banged up. Given the matchup and quarterback downgrade to C.J. Beathard, Engram is a risky starter in most leagues for Week 14.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Scores first TD of 2023

Engram caught all nine of his targets for 82 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Bengals. Engram scored his first touchdown of the season on a 22-yard catch in the second quarter to put the Jaguars ahead 14-7. The touchdown came on a pass thrown by Trevor Lawrence (ankle), who later left the game in the fourth quarter. Engram accounted for four of C.J. Beathard's nine completions in two drives after Lawrence's injury, so the productive tight end figures to remain heavily involved in the Week 14 game plan against the Browns, even if Lawrence can't go.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: TEs to Start

The Bengals have given up some huge games to tight ends of late, and Engram will hopefully be next in line on Monday night. Four tight ends in the past five games have scored at least 11.1 PPR points with George Kittle (23.9 PPR points in Week 8), Dalton Kincaid (18.1 PPR points in Week 9), Dalton Schultz (11.1 PPR points in Week 10) and Pat Freiermuth (21 PPR points in Week 12). Mark Andrews (ankle) was injured against the Bengals in Week 11 or else he also had the potential for a big game, and Engram should join the party. He has top-five potential against Cincinnati on Monday night.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Modest output on eight targets

Engram caught five of eight targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Texans. Engram actually led the Jaguars in targets but posted another modest stat line. He leads the team with 64 catches and is just two targets shy of Christian Kirk's team lead with 82, but Engram has a pedestrian 524 receiving yards and has yet to score a touchdown heading into a Week 13 home game against the Bengals on Monday Night Football.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: TEs to Start

I expected Engram to struggle in Week 11 against Tennessee, and he managed just four catches for 29 yards on six targets. He's now scored 6.9 PPR points or less in two games in a row, but he should rebound this week against the Texans, who are No. 2 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends. In Week 3 against Houston, Engram had seven catches for 67 yards on eight targets for 13.7 PPR points, and I expect him to perform in that range in the rematch.

  • Jaguars' Evan Engram: Remains short-area target

Engram recorded four receptions on six targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 34-14 win over the Titans. Engram kept his typical role in the Jacksonville offense, as he finished tied for second on the team in targets. However, he was limited to short areas of the field, with his longest gain of the day going for 13 yards. That usage is nothing new, as Engram now has under 50 receiving yards in five of his last six contests.
