  • Damien Williams: Cut with injury settlement

The Cardinals cut Williams (foot) from the practice squad injured list with an injury settlement Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The Cardinals made two cuts from their backfield Thursday, with the other one Tony Jones getting waived from the active roster. The combination of moves may mean James Conner (knee) is poised to be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Falcons, but Williams himself now must meet the terms of the settlement in order to find another opportunity elsewhere.

  • Damien Williams: Goes on practice squad IR

The Cardinals placed Williams (foot) on the practice squad injured list Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. Williams had three touches for nine yards in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Ravens before exiting the game in the second quarter after sustaining a foot injury. He will have to sit out for the next four games and will be eligible to return against the Rams on Nov. 26.

  • Cardinals' Damien Williams: Heads back to practice squad

Williams (foot) reverted to the Cardinals' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction report. Williams made an early exit from Sunday's loss to the Ravens late in the second quarter and was unable to return, finishing Week 8 with two carries for five yards and one catch (on one target) for four yards. Arizona has elevated him three times from the practice squad, so the team must sign him to the active roster in order for him to be a part of its backfield. Having said that, Williams' health might prevent that from happening in the short term.

  • Cardinals' Damien Williams: Injures foot Sunday

Williams sustained a foot injury during Sunday's game against the Ravens, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. With James Conner (knee) on injured reserve, Arizona has elevated Williams for three consecutive contests, but his touch count has wavered from nine Week 6 to one last Sunday and now three this week. Prior to Williams' departure, those looks translated to nine yards from scrimmage. Emari Demercado will remain the team's lead runner moving forward, with Keaontay Ingram in reserve.

  • Cardinals' Damien Williams: Elevated for third straight week

The Cardinals elevated Williams to the active roster Saturday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports. Williams joined the Cardinals' practice squad Oct. 5 after being let go by the Raiders during training camp. He's been promoted and played in each of the last two games as a depth running back behind Keaontay Ingram and Emari Demercado, with James Conner (knee) on injured reserve since Oct. 10. Since this is the third time Williams has been elevated this season, the Cardinals would need to sign him to their active roster if they want to continue to play him for the rest of 2023.

  • Cardinals' Damien Williams: Back on active roster

Williams was elevated to the team's active roster Saturday. This comes as zero surprise after the veteran produced 44 scrimmage yards on 13 offensive snaps in last week's loss. Expect Keaontay Ingram to still see the majority of the rushing opportunities over Williams, with Emari Demercado operating as the team's main option in passing situations.

  • Cardinals' Damien Williams: Week 7 Waiver Priority List

In the Cardinals' first game without James Conner (knee) in Week 6 at the Rams, Ingram and Williams shared touches, and each of them had more touches than Emari Demercado. Ingram had 10 carries for 40 yards and two catches for 11 yards on two targets. Williams had eight carries for 36 yards and one catch for 8 yards on one target. Demercado had two carries for 11 yards and one catch for 6 yards on one target. It would appear like Ingram and Williams will remain in the top duo, and you should add Ingram where available if you need a flex for 5 percent of your FAB. Williams is also worth adding as a flex for up to 5 percent. The Cardinals have a tough matchup in Week 7 at Seattle, so we'll see what happens in that game, but Conner is out for three more games and hopefully someone will emerge as the best running back in Arizona from this group.

  • Cardinals' Damien Williams: Heads back to practice squad

Williams reverted to the Cardinals' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. In the wake of an IR stint for James Conner (knee), Arizona's backfield was in some flux, but Williams was elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's game at the Rams to provide some veteran experience. While Keaontay Ingram got the start and the most touches (12) and undrafted rookie Emari Demercado had the largest snap share (43 percent), Williams received touches on the majority of his plays (eight of 13). Overall, Ingram racked up 51 yards from scrimmage, Williams had 44, and Demercado brought up the rear with 17. Conner must miss at least three more games, so Williams is a decent bet to continue getting game-day elevations for the next two contests.

  • Damien Williams: Finds new opportunity

Williams signed with the Cardinals' practice squad Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Williams hasn't seen consistent NFL action since his stint with the Bears in 2021 and is probably best remembered for his two seasons with the Chiefs in 2018 and 2019. The 31-year-old spent time with the Raiders in August, but he was unable to make their 53-man roster and has remained a free agent since. He'll give Arizona some extra organizational depth at running back while Keaontay Ingram continues to recover from a neck injury.

  • Damien Williams: Parts ways with Raiders

Las Vegas is slated to release Williams on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Williams' release comes shortly after Josh Jacob officially returned to team facilities and signed for the 2023 season. The 31-year-old will now need to search for a depth role elsewhere. Williams' versatility should help his odds of latching on at the end of a different roster, but he hasn't suited up for significant NFL action since 2021, as he played just one game with the Falcons last season.

  • Raiders' Damien Williams: Signs with Vegas

Williams signed with the Raiders on Friday, per his agent Ian Greengross. Williams joins a Vegas backfield that lacks an established pecking order behind Josh Jacobs, who is away from the team after failing to agree to a long-term contract. While Jacobs is more likely than not to eventually play for the Raiders in 2023, his absence will create an opportunity for Williams to distinguish himself in the preseason while competing against the likes of Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden.

His last significant role came with the Bears in 2021, when he appeared in 12 games and rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries. He also tallied 16 receptions on 23 targets for 103 yards and a third touchdown.

We'll see what the Falcons do with Williams, Tyler Allgeier, Caleb Huntley and Avery Williams, but Damien Williams could easily be the lead running back until Patterson returns. • Falcons' Damien Williams: Moves to IR

Williams (ribs) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. The veteran tailback didn't practice all week, but considering Williams managed to return to the Week 1 contest after suffering the ribs injury, it's a bit surprising to see him shift to injured reserve. As a result, the 30-year-old will be out a minimum of four weeks.

  • Falcons' Damien Williams: Won't play this week

Williams (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports. Williams rejoined the Falcons' Week 1 contest after injuring his ribs early on, but he's missed practice ever since and now will sit out for at least one game. Avery Williams replaced him as the complement to Cordarrelle Patterson in the season opener, and while Williams could be modestly involved again, the Falcons likely will find work for rookie fifth-round pick Tyler Allgeier, who was a healthy scratch Week 1.

  • Falcons' Damien Williams: Not seen at practice Friday

Williams (ribs) wasn't present at the media portion of Friday's practice, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports. Williams missed a good portion of the Falcons' Week 1 loss to the Saints due to a rib injury, which he deemed sore Monday, per Rothstein. The veteran running back didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and appears to have sat out again Friday, which doesn't bode well for his Week 2 status. If Williams is sidelined, rookie Tyler Allgeier, who was a healthy scratch for Week 1, and Avery Williams would be the primary beneficiaries behind starter Cordarrelle Patterson.

  • Falcons' Damien Williams: Another DNP on Thursday

Williams (ribs) didn't practice Thursday, Ashton Edmunds of the Falcons' official site reports. Williams missed a good portion of the Falcons' Week 1 loss to the Saints due to a rib injury, which he called sore Monday, according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com. So far, Williams hasn't stepped on the practice field during Week 2 prep, but he has one more chance to do so Friday. If he's limited or out Sunday at the Rams, Williams will yield complementary backfield reps to Avery Williams and Tyler Allgeier behind starter Cordarrelle Patterson.

  • Falcons' Damien Williams: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Williams (ribs) was held out of practice Wednesday, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports. Williams left Sunday's opener against the Saints for a spell due to a rib injury, but he was able to return and play out the rest of the game. He relayed to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com on Monday that he's tending to sore ribs, which kept him out of the Falcons' first Week 2 practice. Williams has two more opportunities to get on the field this week, so his status will be watched as the week goes on to get a sense of his availability for Sunday's road game versus the Rams.
