Detroit re-signing Hamilton could speak to optimism about his recovery ahead of OTAs, but the 26-year-old nonetheless remains off the fantasy radar in all but the deepest of IDP formats.

• Redskins' Shaun Dion Hamilton: Unable to suit up

  Rotowire Aug 16, 2019

Hamilton (chest) didn't play in Thursday's preseason loss to the Bengals. Listed as a starter on the preseason depth chart, Hamilton could be tasked with a three-down role after the Redskins lost Reuben Foster to a severe knee injury and later released Mason Foster. Such a role likely would lead to IDP utility, but Hamilton first needs to get healthy before Week 1. Other candidates for playing time at inside linebacker include Jon Bostic, Cole Holcomb and Josh Harvey-Clemons.

• Redskins' Shaun Dion Hamilton: Finishes rookie season strong

  Rotowire Jan 2, 2019

Hamilton finished his rookie season with 28 tackles (19 solo), 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 16 games. Hamilton got the vast majority of his playing time in December, starting the final four games of the season while Zach Brown saw his own role reduced. Team tackle leader Mason Foster is expected back in 2019, but there should be a nice opportunity for Hamilton to earn a starting job with Brown shaping up as a likely cap casualty. The 2018 sixth-round pick may need to compete with 2017 seventh-round pick Josh Harvey-Clemons, who has strictly been used on passing downs.
