  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Still limited at practice

Chark (groin) remained limited at practice Thursday. Since having his 21-day practice window opened last Wednesday, Chark has continued to log limited practices. The Chargers' WR corps is pretty banged-up at the moment, with Quentin Johnston (ankle), Ladd McConkey (hip) and Derius Davis (hamstring) also on the injury report, but it's unclear if Chark will be activated from IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Saints.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Season debut on hold

Chark (groin) wasn't activated from injured reserve ahead of Monday night's game against the Cardinals. After his 21-day practice window was opened Wednesday, Chark logged limited practice listings Thursday through Saturday before approaching Week 7 action listed as questionable. With his regular-season debut on hold, Chark's next chance to see game action will arrive Sunday against the Saints.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Listed as questionable

Chark (groin) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Cardinals. Chark practiced in limited fashion all week, so it's unclear if that kind of practice cadence will allow for the veteran wide receiver to make his season debut, even with the numerous injuries to the Chargers receiving corps. Expect more information regarding Chark's status to come before the 9:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Limited practice Friday

Chark (groin) was limited at practice Friday. The Chargers opened up Chark's 21-day practice window Wednesday, but it remains to be seen if he'll be activated from IR ahead of Monday night's game against the Cardinals. Once he returns to the mix, Chark will have an opportunity to claim a role in a wideout corps currently led by Ladd McConkey (hip), Quentin Johnston (ankle) and Joshua Palmer.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: In line to return to practice

The Chargers plan to open Chark's (hip) 21-day practice window Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Chark landed on injured reserve in advance of Week 1, but the wideout is now inching closer to a return to action. Whether he'll be activated for Monday's game against the Cardinals likely depends on the extent of his practice activity this week, but whenever he returns to the lineup, Chark will have an opportunity to claim a role in a Chargers wideout corps currently led by Joshua Palmer, Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Won't return to practice Wednesday

Head coach Jim Harbaugh said that he doesn't expect the Chargers to open Chark's (hip) 21-day practice window Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Chark has been on injured reserve for the entire regular season, and he isn't ready to begin practicing Wednesday as the Chargers begin preparing for Sunday's game in Denver. The wideout is thus likely to miss a fifth consecutive contest to begin the campaign, and a clear target date for his return likely won't emerge until he starts practicing again.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Approaching return to practice

Chark (hip) is on track to return to practice this coming week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Chark is currently on IR, but it looks like his 21-day practice window will open up shortly. Once the wideout is back up to speed, he'll have a chance to reclaim a key role in a Chargers' WR corps that's currently led by Joshua Palmer, Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Added to IR

Chark (hip) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. It's a tough blow for Chark's marginal fantasy value, as the veteran figured to have an upper hand to be one of the team's top three pass catchers given his experience relative to Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey. Chark won't be eligible to return until Week 6, as the team has the earliest possible bye in Week 5.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Won't play Sunday

Chark (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday's season opener against the Raiders. With Chark unavailable, Joshua Palmer, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston are slated to lead the Chargers' Week 1 wideout corps. Chark, who didn't practice this week, thus will target a potential return to action Sunday, Sept. 15 versus the Panthers.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Not suited up for practice Friday

Chark (hip) is watching Friday's practice in street clothes, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Chark appears set to miss a third consecutive practice, in which case he'll be a strong candidate to miss Sunday's regular-season opener against the Raiders. Friday's practice report will reveal the veteran wideout's official injury designation for Week 1. In the event that Chark isn't able to go, the Chargers will stand to roll with Joshua Palmer, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston as the top options in three-wide sets.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Still sidelined Thursday

Chark (hip) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Chark came up limping in practice on Aug. 19 and has been dealing with the injury ever since. Back-to-back DNPs to open the practice week aren't a good sign for the veteran wideout's Week 1 availability against the Raiders, but Chark has one more day of practice to get out there ahead of Sunday. If Chark is unable to play, Joshua Palmer, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston would likely be the Chargers' three-wide set versus Las Vegas.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Fails to practice Wednesday

Chark (hip) didn't practice Wednesday. Chark has been dealing with an injury since last month, and Wednesday's injury report confirmed that the wideout is tending to a hip issue. The receiver will likely need to return to full practice participation by Friday in order to avoid taking a designation into Sunday's game against the Raiders.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Not seen at practice

Chark (hip) wasn't spotted at Wednesday's practice, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Assuming the Chargers officially list Chark as a non-participant on their first injury report of 2024, he'll have two more chances to potentially get in some practice work before Sunday's season opener versus the Raiders.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Still missing from practice

Chark (hip) wasn't seen at the portion of Monday's practice open to the media, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Chark is two weeks removed from an apparent hip injury he suffered in practice, which has kept him sidelined since. The Chargers aren't required to post an injury report until Wednesday ahead of Sunday's contest against the Raiders, but it should provide some clarity on his status. Once he's healthy, Chark will be part of a receiving corps that's led by Joshua Palmer, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Misses another practice

Chark (undisclosed) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Chark was shook up during Monday's practice, with Daniel Popper of The Athletic suggesting afterward that the wideout may have sustained a hip issue. With another missed practice under his belt Thursday, Chark doesn't seem likely to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Cowboys.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Not practicing Tuesday

Chark (undisclosed) didn't participate in Tuesday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Chark came up limping after an 11-on-11 play during Monday's practice, with Popper indicating afterward that the wideout may have sustained a hip issue. With a missed practice Tuesday, the wideout's status for Saturday's preseason finale against the Cowboys is unclear.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Struggles in preseason loss

Chark did not catch any of his three targets in Saturday's 16-3 preseason loss to the Seahawks. The Chargers' offense was painfully bad in the first half as they put together just one drive with more than five plays. With the majority of the expected starters all held out for precautionary reasons, the veteran Chark was featured heavily in the first couple of possessions, but quarterback Easton Stick's inaccuracies proved too difficult to overcome for Chark. Expect the 27-year-old to receive extensive work throughout the preseason as the team sorts out the expected wide receiving corps behind obvious starters Joshua Palmer and Ladd McConkey.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Running with first-team offense

Chark is working with the first-team offense early in training camp, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. The Chargers presumably hope 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston will eventually take Chark's spot, but so far it sounds like Johnston has mostly worked with the second-stringers after his disappointing rookie season. Chark played 15 games for the Panthers last year -- his healthiest season since he put up 73-1,008-8 for the Jaguars in 2019 -- but he reached 50 yards just three times while playing in one of the worst offenses in the league. As much as better QB play is a near-certainty in Los Angeles, there's a reason Chark is on his fourth team in as many years. He's not in over his head as a starting wideout, but you'd rather have him coming off the bench as a No. 4 receiver who can threaten defenses downfield. The Chargers may not have that luxury after jettisoning Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason and settling for Chark and second-round pick Ladd McConkey as replacements. McConkey and Joshua Palmer are the other WRs that have been getting a lot of first-team snaps during the first week of training camp.

  • Chargers' DJ Chark: Joins forces with Bolts

Chark and the Chargers agreed to terms on a one-year contract Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Per Rapoport, the deal is worth up to $5 million. Chark visited with the Chargers exactly one week before the 2024 NFL Draft, and his signing with the team comes exactly one week after its first round. With L.A., he'll be providing a veteran presence to a receiving corps that parted with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason, meaning Chark will be vying with the likes of Joshua Palmer (knee), Quentin Johnston and second-round rookie Ladd McConkey for reps in the upcoming campaign. In 15 regular-season games with the Panthers in 2023, Chark hauled in 35 of 66 targets for 525 yards and five touchdowns.

  • DJ Chark: Visits with Chargers

Chark visited the Chargers on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Few teams are more in need of wide receivers, with the Chargers having released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen earlier this offseason. Chark has never come close to matching his 1,008-yard, eight-TD performance in 2019 for Jacksonville, but he did top 500 yards both of the past two seasons in Detroit and Carolina, starting 21 of 26 games along the way. Chark will turn 28 in September and doesn't figure to command a large contract.
