The 49ers placed Pleasants (knee) on injured reserve with a designation to return Sunday.
Pleasants sustained a knee injury during the 49ers' preseason game against the Chargers on Aug. 20. The injury is severe enough for 29-year-old offensive tackle to open the year on IR, meaning he'll be forced to miss at least the first four games of the regular season.

Pleasants won't return to Thursday's preseason game at the Chargers due to a knee injury, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports
Pleasants started at left tackle for a resting Trent Williams and moved over to left guard at some point in the contest. However, in the third quarter, he remained on the turf for a spell, and not longer after leaving the field, the 49ers ruled him out.
