  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Officially activated from IR

Brown (shoulder) has been activated from IR ahead of Saturday's game against the Texans. Brown, who practiced fully Tuesday through Thursday, doesn't carry an injury designation for the contest, which sets the stage for the speedy pass catcher to see his first game action since suffering a sternoclavicular injury on the first play of the Chiefs' first preseason game back on Aug. 10, per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. In his looming return to a wide receiver corps that also includes Xavier Worthy and DeAndre Hopkins, it remains to be seen what sort of volume Brown will see Week 16, but on the plus side given the nature of the upper-body injury that caused his lengthy layoff, Brown was "able to run and keep himself in running shape," head coach Andy Reid noted Thursday.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: No injury designation for Week 16

Brown (shoulder), who officially remains on IR, practiced in full Thursday and does not carry an injury designation for Saturday's game against the Texans. Coach Andy Reid said Thursday that Brown has "a good chance" to be officially activated from IR in time to make his season debut Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The speedy wideout's lack of an injury designation reflects that optimism. Brown's recovery from left shoulder surgery undergone back in September has prevented him from suiting up for a single game this season, so if available Saturday, it wouldn't be surprising to see Kansas City ease him into the offense with a light snap count, with the intention to ramp up his involvement for the playoffs.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Trending toward debut

Brown (shoulder) is expected to be activated off injured reserve ahead of Saturday's game against the Texans, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. The Chiefs will need to officially activate Brown off IR ahead of the contest, but it appears like the speedy wideout is on a direct path to making his season debut in Week 16. It's unclear to what degree Brown will be utilized in his first game action since Week 15 of the 2023 campaign, but the team will gladly welcome the 27-year-old's field-stretching speed to an offense that has struggled to produce explosive plays this season.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Practices fully Tuesday

Kansas City listed Brown (shoulder) as a full participant in Tuesday's practice. Brown has missed the first 14 games of the season while recovering from mid-September surgery on his left shoulder, but he looks to be closing in on his 2024 debut. He took a step forward Tuesday by taking every rep in practice, after he had been listed as a limited participant in his return to practice last Friday. Earlier Tuesday, head coach Andy Reid confirmed to Adam Teicher of ESPN.com that Brown will have a chance to play this Saturday against the Texans, but Kansas City will likely wait until the end of the week before deciding whether to activate the wideout from IR. If he's available this weekend, Brown could be eased into the mix with a light snap count, but he'll offer the defending champs a downfield threat that the team has been sorely lacking this season.

  • Chiefs' Marquise Brown: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

There's a chance Brown could return in Week 16 against Houston after being out all season with a shoulder injury, and hopefully Patrick Mahomes (ankle) is healthy. Keep an eye on what happens with the Chiefs in practice this week, and Brown could be a late addition off the waiver wire if Mahomes and Brown are both cleared to play against the Texans.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Practice window opening

The Chiefs are opening Brown's (shoulder) practice window Friday, Albert Breer of SI.com reports. A previous report suggested it would happen either Friday or Monday, after Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed earlier this week that Brown was almost ready to practice. Brown won't play against Cleveland this Sunday and might be viewed as a long shot for Week 16, but it seems he'll return before the end of the regular season unless he suffers a setback in practice. There's now a 21-day window in which Brown can practice without being activated to the 53-man roster.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Return to practice imminent

Brown (shoulder) has received final clearance to practice and should be designated for return from injured reserve Friday or Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Brown hasn't played this season due to September surgery that was ordered up to repair the left shoulder injury he suffered during the Chiefs' preseason opener on Aug. 10. On Wednesday, coach Andy Reid told Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com that Brown was closing in on a return to practice, so Rapoport's report one day later isn't coming out of thin air. Whenever he's able to practice again, Kansas City will have a 21-day window to evaluate Brown for a potential return to the active roster.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Nearing return to practice

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that Brown (shoulder) is "getting close" to practicing and is "champing at the bit" to return, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Reid declined to provide an estimated date for Brown's return and didn't say how much the wideout would need to practice before making his season debut. Since the Chiefs didn't open Brown's 21-day evaluation window Wednesday, he presumably won't be a candidate to return from injured reserve for this Sunday's game in Cleveland, and he probably should be viewed as a longshot for the team's Week 16 game against the Texans. A return at some point over the final two weeks of the regular season could be more realistic for Brown, and if nothing else, the Chiefs seemingly expect him to be a major contributor during the playoffs.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Could play as soon as Week 16

Brown (shoulder) is scheduled for a checkup with his surgeon during Week 15 and could receive clearance to resume practicing thereafter, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Brown has been out all season after suffering a sternoclavicular joint injury to his left shoulder in the Chiefs' Aug. 10 preseason opener and then undergoing surgery in mid-September. Though initial reports after his surgery was performed suggested that Brown would likely miss the entire regular season, the wideout has seemingly avoided any setbacks thus far in the recovery process and looks like he'll have a chance to get in a few tune-up games before the playoffs get underway. If Brown's surgeon is satisfied with the health of his shoulder following the upcoming checkup, the Chiefs will likely open the receiver's 21-day practice window before mapping out a target date for his season debut. Rapoport notes that Brown could be ready for game action as soon as Week 16, when the Chiefs host the Texans on Dec. 21.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: May practice in mid-December

The Chiefs hope Brown (shoulder) can return to practice in mid-December, Nate Taylor of the Athletic reports. Brown had shoulder surgery in mid-September, with reports at the time suggesting he was unlikely to play in the regular season but might return for the playoffs. The wideout now seems he has a chance to play before the end of the regular season, although perhaps only in Weeks 17 and 18.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Progressing, but won't return soon

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that Brown (shoulder) is "on schedule, or a little but ahead" in his recovery from September surgery, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports. That said, Reid cautioned that it's "going to be a while" before Brown plays, though the receiver is a "relentless worker" who seems to be doing well up to this point in his recovery. Around the time he had surgery, multiple reports suggested Brown was unlikely to play in the regular season, with any shot to return dependent on the Chiefs making another playoff run. The team's wideout corps has changed considerably since Week 1, first losing Rashee Rice to a season-ending knee injury and then adding DeAndre Hopkins via trade.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Unlikely to play in regular season

Brown, who was placed on injured reserve Friday and is slated to undergo surgery to repair his shoulder, is unlikely to play during the regular season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The language coming out of Kansas City, both from head coach Andy Reid and Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder, suggested this timeline could be a possibility. While the report leaves open that Brown could rejoin the team in the postseason, it seems as if the speedy wide receiver will be largely unavailable for fantasy managers in 2024.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Goes on IR

The Chiefs placed Brown (shoulder) on injured reserve Friday. Per Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site, Brown is slated to undergo shoulder surgery Monday. While the Chiefs don't have a specific timetable for the wideout's return to action, head coach Andy Reid told Adam Teicher of ESPN.com on Friday that Brown is set to miss months. In Brown's looming absence, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson are in line to lead Kansas City's wideout corps in the coming weeks, with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman also in the mix to see added snaps and targets.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Set for surgery, no return timeline

Chiefs Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder said Friday that Brown (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday, per Matt McMullen of the team's official site, and that he's without a timetable to return, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports. Brown appears destined to land on injured reserve, as initially reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, though the move has not yet been made official. Coach Andy Reid said Monday the wide receiver's potential return to the field is "not going to be weeks, it's going to be more like months," according to Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com. Burkholder said the decision for Brown to undergo surgery was made after recent imaging revealed a bone in his shoulder had moved, with specialists determining it would be too risky for the wideout to suit up for NFL action. Assuming he's placed on IR, Brown's earliest possible return date will be Sunday, Oct. 20 versus San Francisco, but it sounds like the Chiefs don't anticipate him being ready to retake the field until late in the 2024 season, at least. In the meantime, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman will continue to see depth opportunities behind the starting WR trio of Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Reportedly headed to IR

Brown (shoulder) is reportedly in line to head to IR, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. We'll await added context as well as confirmation from the Chiefs, but Rapoport's report indicates that the wideout is in line to undergo a procedure to address his shoulder injury. Assuming that's the case, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson will be on track to lead Kansas City's wideout corps in the coming weeks, with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman also in the mix.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Remains sidelined Thursday

Brown (shoulder) won't practice Thursday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Brown was also sidelined for Wednesday's session, which gives him one more opportunity to log practice reps ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals. If the wideout is forced to miss a second straight contest, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson would once again be on track to lead Kansas City's wideout corps in Week 2, with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman on hand as depth.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Not ready to practice

Brown (shoulder) won't practice Wednesday, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports. Though Brown won't take the field Wednesday, head coach Andy Reid said that it's still possible the wideout could be available Sunday against the Bengals. Brown has two more chances to log practice reps before the Chiefs' final Week 2 injury report is posted. In his absence in the team's season opener this past Thursday versus the Ravens, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson led Kansas City's wideout corps, with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Skyy Moore mixing in.

  • Chiefs' Hollywood Brown: Moving in right direction

Brown (shoulder) is nearing a return to the field according to head coach Andy Reid, Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports. Brown has been working his way back from a sternoclavicular joint injury in his left shoulder that he suffered on Aug. 10. Head coach Andy Reid said Monday that the wide receiver is "getting close" and that "it looks like it's heading in the right direction." Once he's healthy, Brown will compete with the likes of Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce for targets, likely limiting his fantasy upside in the early going.

  • Chiefs' Marquise Brown: May debut in Week 2

Brown (shoulder), who is inactive for Thursday's game against the Ravens, may be able to play in the Chiefs' Week 2 matchup with the Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 15, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Brown is expected to return to practice next week, which would be just a shade over four weeks since he suffered a sternoclavicular joint injury in his left shoulder in Kansas City's exhibition opener in Jacksonville. The typical recovery for such an injury is 4-to-6 weeks, and the sixth-year wide receiver appears to be trending toward the front end of that timetable. Brown likely will need to get through Week 2 prep unscathed for the Chiefs' medical personnel to sign off on him playing on Sept. 15, but there's a distinct chance he'll make his debut with the team on that date.

  • Chiefs' Marquise Brown: Will miss season opener

Head coach Andy Reid said Tuesday that Brown (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's season opener against the Ravens, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Brown has yet to resume practicing since suffering a left sternoclavicular dislocation Aug. 10, and it never appeared that he had a real chance to be available for Week 1. Reid has now made that official, though he noted that Brown's recovery has been encouraging, per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. Brown's absence will leave opportunities up for grabs behind TE Travis Kelce and top wideout Rashee Rice. Rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy could be the biggest beneficiary of extra offensive looks, but all of Justin Watson, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman will be candidates to see increased roles to help cover for Brown's absence.
