The Texans waived Johnson (arm) with an injury settlement Friday, per the NFL's transaction log. • Texans' Johnny Johnson: Reverts to IR

Johnson (arm) reverted to the Texans' injured reserve list Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Johnson was waived with an injury designation Wednesday. He wasn't claimed off waivers by another team, and by reverting to the Texans' IR, Johnson will be forced to miss the entire 2025 season unless an injury settlement is reached. • Johnny Johnson: Doesn't make 53-man roster

Johnson was waived by Houston on Tuesday. Johnson spent most of the 2023 campaign on the Texans' practice squad, though he did appear in the regular-season finale against the Colts, during which he played nine snaps (four on offense, five on special teams). He entered training camp competing for a depth wide receiver role, and across four preseason games he accrued four catches (on six targets) for 50 yards and one touchdown. Should he clear waivers, Johnson could be invited to stick around on the Texans' practice squad or look to land on a roster elsewhere.

  • Texans' Johnny Johnson: Joins active roster

The Texans elevated Johnson to their active roster Saturday. The 24-year-old wideout's elevation could be a sign that Houston is preparing to be without both Noah Brown (out, back) and Robert Woods (questionable, hip) in Week 18. Johnson will most likely contribute on special teams in Saturday's divisional matchup against the Colts.
