Chiefs' Noah Gray: Logs one catch in Week 1 win
Gray finished Monday's 31-10 victory versus Denver with one catch on his only target for five yards.
Gray's NFL career to this point has been spent in the shadow of Travis Kelce, and that was the case again in KC's season opener as Kelce led the team with 71 receiving yards while drawing five targets. Gray did log 38 of 69 offensive snaps and contributed 15 special-teams snaps as well, so he has an important role for Kansas City. However, he doesn't figure to put up consistent offensive numbers as long as Kelce is healthy.

Gray failed to bring in his only target in the Chiefs' 9-9 preseason tie with the Seahawks on Friday.
The veteran backup tight end will close out preseason play with only the one reception for 10 yards he recorded in the opener against the Rams. Despite the quiet exhibition slate, Gray is ticketed to reprise his No. 2 tight end role behind Travis Kelce once again in 2026. That netted him a 21-178-0 line on 37 targets over 16 regular-season games a year ago.

Gray caught 21 of 37 targets for 178 yards without a touchdown while suiting up for 16 regular-season games in 2025, a notable step back from the 40-437-5 line he totaled in 2024. He remains a versatile contributor on offense and special teams, but Gray's limited receiving production will likely keep him of the fantasy radar. There's a chance Gray will carry greater relevance if Kelce is forced to miss time.

Gray's production grew year over year from 2021 until 2024, but he took a big step back in that regard during the 2025 campaign, amassing just 21 catches for 178 yards and failing to find paydirt for the first time in his career. With Travis Kelce a retirement candidate, Gray was once looked at as the potential heir to the starting role, but there are certainly questions as to whether he's a starting-caliber tight end. Pending Kelce's looming retirement decision, the Chiefs' offseason moves should be telling about the team's plans for Gray moving forward.

Gray fell below a 50 percent offensive snap share for the third time in the last four games, and minimal production has come over that span, tallying just two catches for 16 yards on four targets. He's got a final audition on tap in Week 18 before the waiting game begins regarding Travis Kelce's decision whether or not to play another season or hang up the cleats, potentially opening a starting role to Gray. Gray failed to record a single target in Sunday's 26-9 loss to the Titans.
Gray was not targeted for the second straight week despite playing 23 of the Chiefs' 45 offensive snaps Sunday. The 26-year-old tight end's 51 percent snap share was his highest share since Week 11, but the veteran was unable to get involved in an offense that struggled without Patrick Mahomes (knee), who is done for the season. Gray's 38 percent snap share was one his lowest rates of the season, and he finished the game without a target for just the second time this season as a result. Gray's lone catch came on the last play of the contest, and he was unable to reel in either of the other two passes headed his direction. The fifth-year tight end hasn't notched more than three catches in a game this year and has yet to reach the end zone, so there isn't a ton to like from a fantasy standpoint. Gray (concussion/shoulder) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Texans.
Gray entered the league's concussion protocol following the Chiefs' Week 12 loss to the Colts, which prevented him from playing in Kansas City's Thanksgiving Day loss to Dallas.
