The Cardinals selected Love in the first round of the NFL Draft from Notre Dame at No. 3 overall, and he has the chance to be a standout Fantasy option right away. We recommend drafting Love as a high-end No. 2 Fantasy running back in all redraft leagues toward the end of Round 2 or beginning of Round 3. In rookie-only drafts for Dynasty leagues, Love should be the No. 1 overall pick. Love's potential is amazing after his career at Notre Dame, and he finished the past two seasons with a combined 362 carries for 2,497 yards and 35 touchdowns and 55 catches for 517 yards and five touchdowns in 28 games. We hope the Cardinals will treat Love like a workhorse running back, but the concern is that Arizona will use him in a committee since Tyler Allgeier, James Conner and Trey Benson are on the roster. Ideally, not all of those running backs will remain in Arizona this season, which is something to monitor. But if that happens, then we hope Love's talent keeps him on the field as much as possible, even though Allgeier could steal touchdowns, while Conner could do a little of everything. We'll keep an eye on what happens in training camp, but the Cardinals didn't draft Love at No. 3 overall to use him sparingly. He should have the chance for a big season, and we hope he competes to be a top-10 Fantasy running back in his rookie campaign.

Love won't play in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday against Carolina, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Per usual, both teams are holding out most of their starters and many key backups for the first game of the NFL preseason. We should see Love later this preseason, at least briefly, but that won't offer much hint about what his Week 1 role looks like. Love and Tyler Allgeier reportedly have been sharing first-team snaps, while James Conner (foot) remains absent from team drills.

James Conner, meanwhile, isn't yet participating in 11-on-11s after making his way back from season-ending foot surgery last year. It's no huge surprise to see Allgeier taking most of the first-team reps during the opening days of training camp, as teams often defer to seniority even when they have an elite prospect like Love who projects for a major role come September. Love (6-feet, 212 pounds) might not quite be on the level of recent blue-chip running back prospects like Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs, yet the former Notre Dame standout finds himself drafted earlier than either. With such mammoth draft capital invested the Cardinals are compelled to feed Love, but Arizona might also find itself with the most crowded backfield in the league. Power back Tyler Allgeier was added with a two-year, $12.5 million contract in free agency, and the duo of James Conner and Trey Benson remain third and fourth on the depth chart, for the time being. Love is an automatic big-play threat as both a runner and pass catcher, leveraging his 4.36 speed with elusiveness and power. The one question is how much of a workload Love can withstand, especially in terms of power running. Love is a bit upright for a running back and might lack the anchor to be a regular 20-carry running back. That Allgeier is around means the Cardinals won't need to overwork Love.
