• Commanders' Colson Yankoff: Works as Washington's No. 3 tight end

  Yankoff caught his only target for 14 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to Dallas. Yankoff logged 21 of the Commanders' 71 offensive snaps, ranking third among the team's tight ends behind Ben Sinnott (48) and John Bates (22). Washington was without starter Chig Okonkwo, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Yankoff doesn't seem slated for a major role even with Okonkwo out of action, so he's currently off the radar in most fantasy formats.

• Commanders' Colson Yankoff: Increased work in second season

  Yankoff caught two of three targets for 18 yards across 14 regular-season games in 2025. The UCLA product logged just 107 total snaps (101 on special teams, six on offense) across six regular-season games during his rookie campaign in 2024. However, he played a much larger role in his second season, logging 246 special-teams snaps and 107 offensive snaps. Despite the increased playing time, Yankoff was targeted just three times and operated in a depth role within Washington's tight end room. Under contract through 2026, the 25-year-old is expected to compete for a larger offensive role this offseason.

• Commanders' Colson Yankoff: Leaves game with ankle injury

  Yankoff (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Giants. Yankoff appeared to sustain the injury early in the second half, and he's being evaluated by medical staff to determine whether he can return to Sunday's game. Ben Sinnott should see a slight uptick in offensive snaps for as long as Yankoff is out of the game.

  Yankoff (hamstring) was limited in Friday's practice, Commanders writer Ben Standig reports. Yankoff wasn't on the injury report Thursday, so it's possible he was injured in Friday's session. The Commanders will practice again Saturday ahead of Monday night's game against the Chiefs. Yankoff also dealt with a hamstring injury at the end of last season.

  The Commanders activated Yankoff (hamstring) off injured reserve and removed him from their injury report Saturday. Yankoff was designated to return to practice Jan. 8 but didn't play in last weekend's wild-card win over Tampa Bay. He logged a second straight week of full practices this week, and by being activated, he's now eligible to suit up Saturday night against the Lions. A roster spot opened up for Yankoff after linebacker Jordan Magee was placed on injured reserve Saturday due to a hamstring injury.

  Yankoff (hamstring) practiced in full Tuesday. Yankoff was also a full practice participant all last week after being designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday. However, he wasn't activated off injured reserve ahead of Washington's wild-card win over the Buccaneers. It's unclear if Yankoff will be activated in time for this Saturday's divisional-round matchup against the Lions, but the chances of that happening would increase if fellow tight end Ben Sinnott (shoulder) isn't able to play.

  Yankoff (hamstring), who is on IR, has been ruled out for Sunday's wild-card matchup versus Tampa Bay. Yankoff has been on injured reserve since early November due to a hamstring injury. He was designated to return to practice Wednesday but isn't yet ready for game action. When healthy early in the campaign, Yankoff worked primarily on special teams, logging 101 snaps as part of those units versus just six on offense over six games.

  Yankoff (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve by the Commanders on Saturday. Yankoff suffered a hamstring injury during the practice week and didn't practice Friday after being a limited participant Thursday. The issue appears to be fairly serious, as Yankoff will need to miss at least the next four games while on IR. The tight end's absence is unlikely to impact the Commanders' offensive gameplan much, as Yankoff has played only six offensive snaps on the season. He's been a staple on special teams, though, and will be missed in that regard.
