  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Paces pass catches in win

Waddle brought in three of six targets for 57 yards and rushed once for minus-1 yard in the Dolphins' 23-15 win over the Rams on Monday night. Waddle tied Jonnu Smith for the team lead in receptions while setting the pace in both receiving yards and targets. The fourth-year pro's yardage tally was his second highest of the season, with his 109-yard effort in Week 1 the only one to eclipse it. Waddle now has six targets in two of Tua Tagovailoa's first three games back from his IR stint, giving the wideout some momentum and an optimistic outlook heading into a Week 11 home matchup against the Raiders.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: WRs to Sit

Waddle had a wacky stat line in Week 9 at Buffalo with two catches for minus-4 yards and a touchdown on two targets. He didn't get a target until 2:34 remained in the fourth quarter, and he now has eight targets for six catches, 41 yards and a touchdown in two games since Tua Tagovailoa returned from his four-game absence with a concussion. Waddle hasn't scored more than 8.6 PPR points since Week 1, and the Dolphins are relying on Tyreek Hill and De'Von Achane more than Waddle in the passing game. I hope he breaks out of his slump in Week 10 against the Rams, who are No. 10 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers, but I would only start Waddle in three-receiver leagues until he starts producing on a higher level consistently.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Snaps TD drought in loss

Waddle caught both of his targets for minus-4 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Bills. Waddle wasn't targeted until just 2:34 remained in the fourth quarter, when he made a 12-yard catch to convert a third-and-7. He had an injury scare on the very next play, when Waddle stayed down after Damar Hamlin fell on his leg, but the wide receiver stayed in the game and proceeded to catch a game-tying seven-yard touchdown with 1:38 remaining. Unfortunately for Waddle's fantasy managers, he was credited with a 23-yard loss on the game's final play, as he got the ball on a lateral and ran backward to avoid a Bills defender, only to be tackled anyway. Waddle finally ended a touchdown drought that dated back to Week 15 of last season, but he's building a new infamous streak, with seven consecutive games of fewer than 50 receiving yards heading into a Week 10 MNF matchup against the Rams.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Stays quiet in Tua's return

Waddle caught four of six targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Cardinals. Waddle's fantasy managers had high hopes for a bounce back in Tua Tagovailoa's (concussion) return, but Waddle put forth yet another subpar outing as the Dolphins fell to 2-5. After posting 109 receiving yards in Week 1 against the Jaguars, Waddle hasn't exceeded 46 yards in any subsequent game. He'll try to snap that unsavory streak in a Week 9 road game against the Bills.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Limited participant to begin Week 8

Waddle was a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to a quadricep injury, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Waddle still has two opportunities to upgrade to full practice participation, which would put him in position to avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Meanwhile, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since Week 2, and the expectation is that he'll clear the five-step concussion protocol and return from injured reserve to start Sunday. Waddle would stand to benefit substantially from Tagovailoa's return under center. The receiver had 150 receiving yards across Tagovailoa's two starts this season, and just 119 receiving yards in the four games Tagovailoa missed.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Nonfactor in Week 7 loss

Waddle secured one of two targets for 11 yards during Miami's 16-10 loss to the Colts on Sunday. Waddle and Tyreek Hill combined for just two catches and 19 yards on four targets. Coming off a bye, the Dolphins' offense turned in yet another miserable performance despite facing off against a vulnerable Colts secondary, with the mid-game departure of Tyler Huntley (shoulder) only compounding the issues for Miami's passing game. Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) will be eligible to return from IR as early as Week 8 against the Cardinals, but it's unclear when Miami anticipates the franchise quarterback retaking the field. If one of Huntley, Tim Boyle or Skylar Thompson (ribs) is again under center versus Arizona, it will be difficult to trust any of the Dolphins' pass catchers for fantasy purposes.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Team-high yardage total in loss

Waddle secured four of six targets for 36 yards in the Dolphins' 31-12 loss to the Titans on Monday night. Miami's offense ironically got off on a very good foot with 30 yards over its first two plays, and Waddle accounted for 14 of those on the Dolphins' first play from scrimmage. However, much like the team as a whole, it would go on to be a quiet and largely unproductive night for Waddle, who did record an 18-yard grab in the fourth quarter but gained just four yards on his other two catches. Like fellow wideout Tyreek Hill, Waddle doesn't figure to come close to flashing his true potential while working with either Tyler Huntley or Skylar Thompson (ribs) as his quarterback, and he'll face a pair of talented Patriots cornerbacks in a Week 5 road matchup.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: WRs to Sit

In his first game without Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) this season in Week 3 at Seattle, Waddle had four catches for 26 yards on five targets. It will be tough to trust Waddle in all leagues without Tagovailoa, but hopefully whoever starts at quarterback for the Dolphins in Week 4 can help Waddle and Tyreek Hill show signs of life. I'm still going to trust Hill as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver in all leagues, but I'm sitting Waddle until he does something of significance with a backup quarterback.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Another modest showing Sunday

Waddle secured four of five targets for 26 yards in the Dolphins' 24-3 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday. Like his position mate Tyreek Hill, Waddle saw his considerable upside capped by having to play with Skylar Thompson (ribs), and upon the latter's exit from the contest, Tim Boyle, as his two quarterbacks. Waddle now has back-to-back four-reception outings, and he's netted a forgettable 67 receiving yards in that pair of contests. There's not much reason for optimism in the short term, either, as Tua Tagovailoa's (IR-concussion) future is in limbo and Thompson may have an uphill battle to be ready for a Week 4 Monday night home matchup against the Titans.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: WRs to Sit

Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) getting hurt is awful news for Waddle. He's played eight games in his career without Tagovailoa, and Waddle has 42 catches for 453 yards over that span with no touchdowns. That's an average of 5.3 catches and 56.6 yards per game. While Tyreek Hill remains a must-start Fantasy receiver -- he has 25 catches for 302 yards and a rushing touchdown in four games without Tagovailoa -- Waddle is tougher to trust. I would only start Waddle in three-receiver leagues in Week 3 at Seattle with Skylar Thompson under center.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Four catches in Week 2 loss

Waddle brought in all four targets for 41 yards and rushed once for four yards in the Dolphins' 31-10 loss to the Bills on Thursday night. Considering how ineffective Tua Tagovailoa was in an injury-shortened three-interception performance and the fact Waddle was pulled from the game early due to the lopsided score, the fourth-year wideout's numbers weren't a complete washout. Waddle actually outproduced position mate Tyreek Hill (3-24-0) through the air, but his numbers still were a far cry from his 5-109-0 line Week 1 versus the Jaguars. Waddle will look to boost his numbers back up with either Tagovailoa or Skylar Thompson as his quarterback in a Week 3 road matchup against the Seahawks on Sunday, Sept. 22.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Clears 100-yard mark in Week 1 win

Waddle brought in all five targets for 109 yards in the Dolphins' 20-17 win over the Jaguars on Sunday. He also rushed once for three yards. Waddle was overshadowed by fellow wideout Tyreek Hill -- who finished with seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown -- but the fourth-year pro made quite an impact in his own right. The Alabama product connected with Tua Tagovailoa for a big 63-yard reception to start an early third-quarter drive, and he also played a key role in a late second-quarter march that resulted in the Dolphins' first touchdown by drawing a pass interference penalty and subsequently recording a 20-yard grab. Waddle also was evaluated for a concussion in the first half but cleared after a visit to the medical tent, per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com. Waddle won't have to wait long to attempt to build on his impressive season-opening effort, as the Bills come to town for a Week 2 divisional showdown Thursday night.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Practicing with non-contact jersey

Waddle (undisclosed) is wearing a non-contact jersey Monday at practice, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports. Waddle's participation in any fashion is a good sign for the Dolphins, 13 days ahead of their regular-season opener against Jacksonville. The WR room has been hit by injury after injury this summer, but it seems Waddle and Tyreek Hill (hand) are on track to be ready for Week 1, leaving the lower portion of the depth chart as the bigger question mark.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Back at practice Wednesday

Waddle (undisclosed) is practicing in full pads Wednesday and confirmed that he's nursing a minor injury, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. It's unclear whether Waddle participated in team drills Wednesday, per Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald, but in any case, it's encouraging to see the star wide receiver back at practice for the first time since Aug. 7. Waddle also noted that his undisclosed injury wouldn't have limited him during the regular season, but that the Dolphins opted for caution during the preseason. Friday's exhibition game against the Buccaneers will be Waddle's final chance to play during the preseason.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Still sidelined at practice

Waddle (undisclosed) did not practice Tuesday, Barry Jackson and Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald report. Waddle has missed roughly two weeks of practice due to an undisclosed injury which coach Mike McDaniel labeled as minor. It still doesn't seem like Waddle's status for Week 1 is in jeopardy, but the standout wide receiver could be in danger of missing his final opportunity to log preseason game reps, which will come Friday versus the Buccaneers. Tyreek Hill (hand) didn't participate in catching drills during Tuesday's practice, while Odell Beckham (undisclosed) remains on the active/PUP list and has yet to participate in training camp sessions. In addition, potential No. 3 option River Cracraft (upper body) is expected to miss significant time, so the focus for Miami's receiving corps may be on simply getting healthy before the start of the regular season.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Signs lucrative extension

Waddle signed a three-year, $84.75 million contract extension with the Dolphins on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The deal includes $76 million guaranteed. Waddle is now one of the top five highest-paid receivers in the NFL with an annual salary of $28.25 million. The 2021 first-round pick has been dominant since entering the league, ripping off three straight seasons with 1,000-plus yards, including a 2022 campaign where he produced 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns across 17 regular-season games. The 25-year-old battled injuries last season but is fully healthy ahead of the 2024 campaign. Waddle is still the clear No. 2 receiver behind Tyreek Hill, but there's clearly room for both players to produce as the fastest receiving duo in the league.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Fifth-year option to be exercised

General manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Quiet finish to season

Waddle (ankle) brought in two of five targets for 31 yards and rushed once for nine yards in the Dolphins' 26-7 wild-card loss to the Chiefs on Saturday night. Waddle was able to suit up after putting in three limited practices during the week following a two-game absence to close out the regular season. However, as his final numbers indicate, the third-year pro wasn't able to make any appreciable impact in the frigid temperatures. The disappointing conclusion to a once promising season aside, Waddle once again thrived as an ideal complement to Tyreek Hill in 2023, posting a 72-1,014-4 line during the regular season over 104 targets -- his third 1,000-yard tally in as many NFL campaigns -- and adding three carries for 12 yards across 14 games. With Waddle heading into the final year of his contract in 2024, the potential for an extension for the 2021 first-round pick figures to be the subject of plenty of discussion this offseason.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Back in action Saturday

Waddle (ankle) is listed as active for Saturday's wild-card game against the Chiefs. Waddle, who has missed two straight games due to a high-ankle sprain, logged limited listings Tuesday through Thursday before being deemed questionable for Saturday's contest. With his availability confirmed, Waddle is in line to reclaim a key role in Miami's passing offense in the absence of any in-game setbacks or limitations alongside fellow starting wideout Tyreek Hill. The duo will have to contend with frigid playing conditions in Kansas City, a variable that has a chance to hamper the upside of the Dolphins' passing attack in the team's postseason opener.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Questionable for playoff opener

Waddle (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's wild-card game against the Chiefs. Waddle has missed two straight games with a high-ankle sprain, but the wideout's limited practice listings Tuesday through Thursday give him a chance to return to action for Miami's postseason opener. If Waddle is deemed active for Saturday's 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff, he'll be in a position to reclaim a key role in his team's passing offense alongside fellow starting wideout Tyreek Hill (ankle/quadriceps) in frigid playing conditions in Kansas City. In 14 games prior to missing time with the ankle injury, Waddle recorded a 72-1,014-4 line on 104 targets. Per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, head coach Mike McDaniel said Thursday that Waddle hasn't experienced any setbacks this week, while expressing his optimism about the pass catcher's chances of returning to action this weekend.
