  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Gets light usage as returner

Whittington returned one kick for 24 yards and failed to record a target during Sunday's 28-22 win against the Patriots. Whittington's role since the return of Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp has been non-existent, and he hasn't managed a catch since Week 5. The sixth-round rookie's role seems to be focused on special teams at the moment (16 snaps on special teams versus five snaps on offense Sunday), and he'll continue to compete with Tutu Atwell, Tyler Johnson and Xavier Smith for a meager amount of snaps as the backups to Nacua, Kupp and Demarcus Robinson.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Gets back to full practice Thursday

Whittington (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Despite missing a second game in a row this past Sunday at Seattle due to a shoulder injury, Whittington was able to string together three consecutive limited practices last week. This time around, he doesn't have any restrictions, indicating that he's past the health concern. With Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua back in action, Whittington will find snaps and targets difficult to come by, but if Demarcus Robinson (toe/hip), who didn't practice Thursday, is inhibited or out Monday against the Dolphins, Whittington would be a candidate to step in behind the top WR duo.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Sitting out again Sunday

Whittington (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game at Seattle, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Whittington thus is missing a second straight contest due to a shoulder injury, but he was able to practice in a limited capacity in all three Week 9 practices, indicating he's drawing closer to a return to action. With Whittington sidelined, Tutu Atwell, Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson and Xavier Smith will be the tertiary wide receivers behind the top duo of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Deemed questionable

Whittington (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Whittington was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday, after playing limited snaps Week 7 and sitting out Week 8 entirely. The participation level is an upgrade from last week, leaving both Whittington and fellow Rams wideout Puka Nacua (knee) questionable for Sunday's game.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Stays limited in practice

Whittington (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. With back-to-back capped sessions under his belt this week, Whittington already has managed more work than he did a week ago before he sat out last Thursday's win against the Vikings. Meanwhile, Puka Nacua aggravated his right knee injury during this Thursday's session, which could set the stage for Whittington to regain some sway in the Rams offense if he's able to suit up Sunday in Seattle and Nacua again is forced to miss time. In the end, Friday's practice report could shed some light on the overall state of L.A.'s receiving corps.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Not playing Thursday

Whittington (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Vikings, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Whittington earned some sway in a Rams passing game missing Puka Nacua (knee) since Week 1 and Cooper Kupp (ankle) since Week 2, culminating with 13 combined catches (on 18 targets) for 151 yards between Weeks 4 and 5. However, Whittington emerged from a Week 5 loss to the Packers with a shoulder injury, and even with the benefit of a Week 6 bye, he handled just nine offensive snaps and wasn't targeted this past Sunday versus the Raiders. Now that Whittington is out Week 8, Kupp will be available, Nacua is listed as questionable but remains on injured reserve, and Tutu Atwell, Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson and Xavier Smith all are healthy, which may not leave much work for Whittington once he gets healthy.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Trending toward playing

Whittington (shoulder) remains listed as questionable but is expected to play Sunday against the Raiders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Whittington was a limited participant in practice throughout the week while he managed the shoulder issue, but he looks like he'll be able to play through the injury concern. He'll likely have a prominent role in the passing attack waiting for him, as No. 1 wideout Cooper Kupp (ankle) is questionable but is seemingly trending toward sitting out a fourth straight game Sunday, per Schefter. During Kupp's absence in the Rams' last two games, Whittington emerged as quarterback Matt Stafford's go-to option. The rookie out of Texas racked up 18 targets between those two contests and produced a 13-151-0 receiving line.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Listed as questionable

Whittington (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Whittington and Cooper Kupp (ankle) both are listed as questionable after being limited practice participants Wednesday through Friday, with head coach Sean McVay saying Friday that Whittington is expected to play but Kupp may come down to a game-time decision. Whittington drew 18 targets in the final two games before a Week 6 bye, handling a near-every-down role alongside wideouts Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell. Kupp's return would obviously complicate things, at least in terms of projected target volume if not automatically playing time.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Expected to play

Rams coach Sean McVay said Friday that Whittington (shoulder) is expected to play Sunday against the Raiders, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Cooper Kupp, on the other hand, is considered truly questionable due to the left high-ankle sprain that's held him out since Week 2. Whittington suffered a shoulder injury Week 5, right before a bye week, and it seems he'll avoid any missed time. He drew 18 targets over the past two games but wouldn't be likely to approach that volume with Kupp back in the lineup.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Remains limited Thursday

Whittington (shoulder) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Whittington now has put together back-to-back capped sessions out of the Rams' Week 6 bye due to a shoulder injury that he sustained Week 5 against the Packers. Friday's practice report likely will give a sense of Whittington's odds to suit up Sunday versus the Raiders, a contest in which fellow WR Cooper Kupp (ankle), who also has been limited Wednesday and Thursday, may return to action. If both players are able to play this weekend, Whittington likely would take a step back in terms of target share.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Set for limited practice Wednesday

Rams head coach Sean McVay said Whittington (shoulder) will be a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports. Whittington emerged from a Week 5 loss to the Packers with a shoulder injury, but even with a Week 6 bye to recover, he won't be able to handle a full allotment of practice reps to begin this week. He thus will have two more chances to get back to full participation before the Rams potentially tag him with a designation for Sunday's game versus the Raiders. There's a chance Cooper Kupp (ankle) returns to action this weekend, but if he doesn't and Whittington is active, the rookie sixth-round pick would be in line for another significant workload. Whittington has drawn 18 targets between the last two contests.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Week 7 Adds (WR Preview)

Both Atwell and Whittington are in play this week, but only if Cooper Kupp is out. Since Week 3, both have a 21.6% target share but have produced 2.45 yards per route run to Whittington's 2.18 and 1.81 Fantasy points per route run to Whittington's 1.61. My preference is Atwell, but I wouldn't spend much FAB on either, even in a great matchup against the Raiders.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Week 7 Waiver Priority List

The Rams could get Cooper Kupp (ankle) back in Week 7, which would change the outlook for all of their receivers. But if Kupp is out again then I like Whittington the best, followed by Tutu Atwell (32 percent rostered) and then Demarcus Robinson (21 percent). Whittington has a shoulder injury to monitor, so keep an eye on his status, but prior to the Rams' bye in Week 6, he scored at least 12.2 PPR points in each of his previous two outings against Chicago and Green Bay with 18 targets over that span for 13 catches and 151 yards. Atwell has scored at least 12.2 PPR points in three games in a row, and he has two games over that span with at least 82 receiving yards. Robinson hasn't done much since Kupp and Puka Nacua (knee) have been out, but he did score a touchdown in Week 5 against Green Bay. I would add Whittington and Atwell for 5 percent of your remaining FAB, and Robinson is just a flier for 1 percent in deeper leagues. Keep in mind that Whittington could be impacted the most when Kupp is healthy, but he also has the most upside if Kupp is still out in Week 7 against the Raiders.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Dealing with shoulder issue

Rams head coach Sean McVay said Monday that Whittington is contending with a shoulder issue following Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Packers, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. On the plus side, McVay noted that Whittington's availability following the Rams' Week 6 bye shouldn't be affected by the issue. That said, the wideout's status will be worth tracking once the team returns to practice ahead of an Oct. 20 home contest against the Raiders. Whittington has led the Rams with a 13-151-0 line on 18 targets over the past two weeks, but he could lose out on some looks if Cooper Kupp (ankle) and/or Puka Nacua (knee) are able to return to the lineup coming out of the bye week.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Shines in preseason opener

Whittington caught six of nine targets for 74 yards in Sunday's 13-12 preseason win over the Cowboys. The 2024 sixth-round pick led the Rams in catches, targets and receiving yards, including a 30-yard gain on the team's opening drive, but that performance came during a game in which Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua (knee), Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell were all sitting out. Whittington has been making a strong impression at training camp and is on course to claim a spot on the 53-man roster, but he's still unlikely to see much action early in the regular season.

  • Rams' Jordan Whittington: Another pass catcher to Los Angeles

The Rams selected Whittington (hamstring) in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 213rd overall. Whittington was a five-star recruit back in 2019, but three straight seasons mired by injuries to begin his collegiate career effectively shut the door on the wideout capitalizing on his potential. The Texas product is a well regarded leader who compiled 1,157 receiving yards combined the previous two seasons after finally staying healthy, but a hamstring injury close to the NFL Combine ruined any shot at the 23-year-old rising higher in the prospect ranks.
