  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Top DFS Play

Rice is priced outside of the top 12 wide receivers this week, but projects as my number six wide receiver on the slate. He's averaging 17.9 FPPG on the year and I expect the Isiah Pacheco injury increases his total targets as the Chiefs use short targets to make up for what they lose in the run game.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Thriving as Mahomes' WR1

Rice caught five of six targets for 75 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-25 win over the Bengals. Most of Rice's production came on a 44-yard touchdown reception down the sideline in the second quarter. He had a 21-yard catch on fourth down erased by a penalty on the game's final possession, but Rice drew a 29-yard pass interference call on the next play to set up Harrison Butker's game-winning 51-yard field goal. Heading into a Week 3 trip to Atlanta for SNF, Rice is the clear top option in a Chiefs wide receiver room that will be without Hollywood Brown (shoulder) for the rest of the regular season.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Eclipses century mark in win

Rice secured seven of nine targets for 103 yards in the Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Ravens on Thursday night. Rice led the Chiefs across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets during the hard-fought season-opening battle. The second-year receiver looked every bit the part of the No. 1 receiver he evolved into as a rookie, and he brought in catches of 11, 16, 19 and 33 yards during the night. Rice looked explosive on each reception and appears well-equipped to build on his strong start against the Bengals in a Week 2 home matchup on Sunday, Sept. 15.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Leading receiver group

Rice will lead Kansas City's receiving corps Thursday against the Ravens, while teammate Marquise Brown (shoulder) has been ruled out. Rice's fantasy stock tumbled after an alleged hit-and-run incident in March led to a slew of legal charges, but he's avoided the commissioner's exempt list and may even avoid a league suspension until 2025. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes shouldn't lack for capable pass catchers even with Brown out of the lineup for a week or two, as the Chiefs also have rookie wideout Xavier Worthy and veteran tight end Travis Kelce available. Nate Taylor of The Athletic suggests that the team expects Rice to have more of an impact on deep and intermediate routes this season, after his rookie-year success was largely built on catching short passes and gaining yards after the catch.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: NFL may let legal process play out

Rice is not expected to begin the regular season on the commissioner's exempt list, and the NFL will instead make a decision on his status after his legal process has concluded, Mark Maske of The Washington Post reports. Rice seems unlikely to entirely avoid a suspension for his off-field problems this offseason, but the league isn't expected to intervene until the legal situation pays itself out, which could occur later this year or potentially even be delayed until 2025. He faces eight felony charges in connection with a high-speed, multi-car hit-and-run accident that occurred March 30 in Dallas, including charges of aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and collision involving injury. As long as Rice is eligible to play, he'll be locked in as a top target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes and will be in prime position to build off his highly successful rookie season, but at some point, it seems all but guaranteed that he'll face a multi-game suspension. The Chiefs brought in wideouts Marquise Brown (shoulder) and Xavier Worthy to join Rice and tight end Travis Kelce atop the receiving corps, but neither seem especially likely to intrude on Rice's workload, as he primarily operates from the slot and on short routes.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Steady in preseason game

Rice caught four receptions for 35 yards on five targets in Saturday's preseason game against Detroit. Just as he did in his highly successful 2023 rookie season, Rice primarily operated from the slot and on short routes Saturday. Rice's rare short-area burst allows him to be productive on such looks, and he was close to automatic for the Chiefs on Saturday. It would help Rice's fantasy upside if he could draw some targets downfield as well, but his proficiency at racking up yards after the catch could keep him in a slot role frequently.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Should play Saturday

Rice and other starters are scheduled to play the first half of Saturday's preseason game against Detroit, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports. The Chiefs won't necessarily use all their starters for the entire first half, but they apparently plan to put the first unit out there for far more snaps than other teams tend to be comfortable with. Rice is locked in as a starter and top target for QB Patrick Mahomes, with the biggest question at this point being whether the wideout eventually gets suspended for his off-field problems this offseason. While avoiding a suspension entirely is highly unlikely, there's some chance league punishment doesn't come down until after the season.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Still no word on league discipline

Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said Monday the team hasn't yet held any discussions with the NFL over a possible suspension for Rice, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Rice is presumably facing a multi-game suspension for his involvement in a high-speed, six-car crash in April in which he was charged with aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and collision involving injury. He was also allegedly involved in an assault in a nightclub in May, per Toluwani Osibamowo of KCUR.org. Though no charges were filed in the latter incident, Rice could still be subject to related league discipline. The second-year wideout was a full participant in offseason activities for the Chiefs, and given that the NFL typically allows legal processes to play out in full before assigning punishments, clarity on Rice's potential suspension may not be immediately forthcoming.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Likely to be suspended

Rice is likely facing a multi-game suspension for his involvement in a car crash in late March, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Rice left the scene of a six-car accident on a Dallas highway and now faces charges for aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and collision involving injury. While he figures to be suspended at some point, the NFL typically allows legal processes to play out before doling out league punishment, which means it's possible Rice is on the field come Week 1.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Expected to participate in virtual meetings

Coach Andy Reid indicated Monday that Rice is expected to remotely participate in the initial stage of the Chiefs' voluntary offseason program via virtual meetings, NFL.com reports. Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Rice -- who is is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury stemming from his involvement in a car crash in Dallas last month -- turned himself in to police last week and was subsequently released on bond. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the league has been closely monitoring developments related to the incident, while Reid noted that it remains to be seen whether the wideout will participate later in the spring when the team's offseason program moves to Kansas City. "I want to keep gathering the information from the law enforcement people,'" Reid said Monday. "We'll just see where everything goes from there (and) let the process take place."

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Arrest warrant issued

An arrest warrant for Rice has been issued stemming from a March 30 chain-reaction collision on a Dallas highway that involved a vehicle the wide receiver was driving, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports. The report adds that Rice now faces eight counts -- aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury -- as a result of the incident, which left four people with minor injuries. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the league has been closely monitoring developments regarding the incident, with previous reports relaying that Rice intended to continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Cooperating with police

Rice's attorney said Monday that the wide receiver is cooperating with police after a vehicle registered to him was involved in a multi-car crash Saturday evening, Jamie Stengle of The Associated Press reports. It isn't yet clear if Rice was in one of the two cars responsible for causing a six-car crash. If so, he could face criminal charges, as drivers and passengers from a Lamborghini SUV and a Corvette allegedly left the scene of the accident without providing information or seeing if anyone needed medical attention. The crash isn't believed to have involved any serious injuries, though two occupants of another vehicle were taken to a hospital for further attention.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Sought in crash investigation

Dallas police are searching for Rice in connection with a major multi-vehicle traffic collision that occurred Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The accident occurred at about 6:20 p.m. locale time, and at this time, it's unclear whether anyone was hurt in the crash or to what extent Rice was involved. According to Kelli Smith and R.J. Coyle of The Dallas Morning News, a vehicle involved in the collision is believed to be registered or leased to the Kansas City receiver, though the report also notes that Rice didn't appear in Dallas County jail records as of Sunday, and it's also unclear whether he's facing charges. Rice grew up in the Dallas area and attended SMU before being selected by the Chiefs in second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Six catches in Super Bowl

Rice recorded six receptions (on eight targets) for 39 yards in Sunday's 25-22 overtime win over the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. He added two rushes for five yards. Rice finished second on the team in targets behind Travis Kelce, which turned into an uninspiring yardage total. However, Rice notched a pair of impactful receptions on the Chiefs' game-winning drive in overtime, the latter of which was a 13-yard gain on third down to get the offense into 49ers territory. The effort concluded a strong second half of the season for the rookie pass catcher, as he commanded at least eight targets in eight of Kansas City's last 10 games including playoffs. Rice will be a key part of the offense in 2024 and should share the top pass-catching role with Travis Kelce.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Avoids injury designation

Rice (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's Super Bowl matchup with the 49ers. The rookie sandwiched full practices Wednesday and Friday around a limited session Thursday. He was initially listed with one ankle injury and now is listed with both, but it seems neither is bad enough to threaten his availability for the big game. Rice has been Kansas City's clear No. 1 WR since mid-season, routinely leading the group in snaps, routes, targets and yards while the other guys mostly have rotated. Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson are the best bets to get playing time alongside Rice, though neither is a sure thing to handle a typical starter's workload.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Tending to injured ankles

Rice was a limited practice participant Thursday due to injured ankles. Until Thursday's practice report, Rice was listed as a full participant with an ankle issue, but the Chiefs expanded that to the plural ankles just three days before Super Bowl LVIII. The rookie wide receiver thus will have one more chance to return to all activity or else potentially be in danger of heading into the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Garners nine targets in win

Rice had eight receptions (on nine targets) for 46 yards in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game. Rice finished second in receiving for Kansas City behind tight end Travis Kelce (11-116-1) while logging his fifth game of eight-plus receptions dating back to the team's bye in Week 11 of the regular season. The second-round rookie actually produced one less yard than he did against the Bills in the AFC divisional round despite doubling his reception total from that win. Rice has produced a receiving line of 20-223-1 across three playoff games as the Chiefs prepare to face the winner of the NFC Championship Game in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 11.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Held to 47 yards

Rice recorded four receptions on four targets for 47 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Bills. Rice had his opportunity curtailed by the Chiefs' overall volume, as the team ran only 47 offensive plays compared to 78 for the Bills. As a result, he saw his lowest target total since Week 9, and he failed to surpass 50 receiving yards for the first time since Week 11. Rice will face another tough test in the AFC Championship Game, as he'll square off against a Baltimore secondary that allowed the ninth-fewest yards to opposing wide receivers.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Big performance in wild-card round

Rice recorded eight receptions on 12 targets for 130 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's 26-7 win over the Dolphins. Rice was the Chiefs' top pass catcher by any measure Saturday. He kicked off the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown reception on the team's first offensive possession, and he also chipped in three receptions of at least 20 yards. With the performance, he now has at least 90 receiving yards in four of his last seven games. Rice suffered a brief injury scare early in the third quarter but was able to return to the game and should be ready to go for Kansas City's divisional-round matchup.

  • Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Practices fully Tuesday

Rice (hamstring) was a full practice participant Tuesday. While Rice managed the hamstring injury, Kansas City held him out of practice for the entirety of Week 18 prep before he was inactive for Sunday's 13-12 win over the Chargers. Even if he hadn't been nursing the injury, Rice may have played only limited snaps, as the AFC West champs opted to rest other key contributors such as quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce while the team was locked in as the No. 3 seed in the conference. Now that he's back on the field as a full practice participant, Rice looks like he'll head into Saturday's wild-card matchup with the Dolphins with no restrictions.
