  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Still not ready

Amos (ankle) is getting healthier but is not ready to return to the field at this point, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports. The cornerback fractured his fibula last year, and his current ankle sprain is on the same leg, per Reed. Amos has not practiced since suffering this latest injury Aug. 10. If he can't return in time for the start of the regular season, Rasul Douglas would likely be the next man up at left cornerback.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: No return timeline yet

Amos (ankle) still has no return timeline set, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports. Amos suffered an ankle injury last Monday and has not practiced since the issue occurred. The 2025 second-rounder has likely not progressed well in his recovery if there is still no timeline for a return. The Commanders may be preparing for Amos to miss the start of the regular season, in which case veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas will likely start opposite Mike Sainristil in the team's secondary.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Comes off PUP list

Amos (lower leg) passed his physical and has been removed from the Commanders' PUP list as of Friday. Washington was taking a cautious approach with Amos as he tended to some soft tissue soreness during the offseason, but it looks like he's now ready to get back up to full speed. If he can hang on to a role similar to the one he was in last year prior to suffering a season-ending fibula fracture in Week 10, he'll be a big piece of the Commanders' secondary in 2026.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Team being cautious with injury

Commanders general manager Adam Peters told reporters Tuesday that the team has taken a cautious approach to Amos' lower leg injury, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. "[Amos is] doing really well...Had some soft tissue soreness in the offseason so we wanted to take it slow. He should be back soon. We wanted to be overly cautious," Peters relayed Tuesday. Amos was a second-round selection of the Commanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Ole Miss product started in each of the first 10 games of the regular season before fracturing his fibula against the Lions in early November. Given Peters' comments, it seems like Amos will be ready to return to practice at some point during training camp, perhaps before the Commanders' first preseason game against the Dolphins on Friday, Aug. 14.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Season likely over

Coach Dan Quinn does not anticipate activating any players currently on injured reserve, including Amos (lower leg), Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports. Amos suffered a fractured fibula during the Week 10 loss to the Lions, and it appears to have officially ended the rookie's season. With no activations from IR anticipated, the Commanders will likely end their season without either starting cornerback, as Marshon Lattimore (knee) also resides on injured reserve. Amos ends his rookie campaign with 32 tackles (19 solo) and six passes defensed through 10 games.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Sent to injured reserve

The Commanders placed Amos (fibula) on injured reserve Tuesday. Amos suffered a fractured fibula in Sunday's loss to the Lions and will miss at least the next four games, though it's unclear if he'll be able to return to action this season. With Amos joining Marshon Lattimore (knee) on injured reserve, Washington's anemic defense will be dipping deep into their cornerback depth chart moving forward. This is a defense to attack in fantasy.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Good to go Week 10

Amos (hip) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Lions, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports. Amos sustained a hip injury during the Commanders' Week 9 loss to the Seahawks, which limited his practice participation Wednesday and Thursday. He was able to log a full practice Friday to shed an injury designation for Sunday's game, when he'll start at outside corner opposite Jonathan Jones. Amos has logged 30 tackles (17 solo) and six pass defenses through nine regular-season games.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Limited by hip issue

Amos (hip) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. Amos left Sunday's loss to Seattle with the injury but still managed to log seven tackles. That he was able to practice in any capacity Wednesday is positive, so he could be in a position to suit up Week 10 against the Lions.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Collects four tackles Sunday

Amos tallied four tackles (two solo) in Sunday's Week 4 loss to Atlanta. Amos suffered a calf injury in Week 3 against the Raiders but was able to take the field one week later. He logged season highs with a 91 percent defensive snap share and four tackles. Amos has posted nine tackles and four defensed passes through his first four NFL games.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Exits with calf injury

Amos is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Raiders due to a calf injury. Amos picked up the injury during the second half of Sunday's game, and he is being evaluated by trainers to determine whether he can return. With Marshon Lattimore (head) being evaluated for a concussion, the Commanders will turn to Antonio Hamilton, Mike Sainristil and Noah Igbinoghene to work at cornerback.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Returns to action

Amos (shoulder) has returned to Thursday's contest against the Packers. Amos was briefly sidelined with a shoulder injury in first half versus Green Bay, but he was ultimately able to return to action. The cornerback is operating opposite of Marshon Lattimore on the perimeter of Washington's defense.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Returns to action

Amos (hamstring) played 14 defensive snaps in Saturday's 30-3 preseason loss to the Ravens. Amos was nursing a tight hamstring at practice throughout the week after missing the team's preseason matchup with the Bengals on Aug. 18. His return to action signals that he's a full go ahead of Washington's regular season opener with the Giants on Sept. 7.

  • Commanders' Trey Amos: Managing tight hamstring

Amos didn't play in Monday's preseason game against Cincinnati due to a tight hamstring, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports. Head coach Dan Quinn said after Monday's contest that Amos would have played if it were a regular-season matchup, so it sounds like the rookie cornerback isn't dealing with a significant issue. At this point Amos' hamstring injury doesn't appear likely to keep him from being ready for Week 1, though his status for Washington's final preseason game -- which will take place Saturday against Baltimore -- is unclear.
