Williams is in line to make his season debut after joining Arizona's practice squad in mid-October. Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury already said Friday that Corey Clement and Keaontay Ingram would be in line for increased roles Week 18 after top running back James Conner (shin/ankle) was ruled out. Therefore, it's likely Williams will serve as the team's third-string running back in this relatively meaningless regular-season finale for Arizona, as the team was eliminated from the 2022 playoffs multiple weeks ago.

Williams was a hot name at the end of draft season as the lone remaining running back on the roster after J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards went down late in the preseason with season-ending knee injuries. The early returns were promising; he scored a touchdown in the opener and had 13 carries for 77 yards in Week 2. However, issues such as blitz pickup forced the Ravens to go away from Williams after that as the team pilfered the pile of veteran free agents like Devonta Freeman, Latavius Murray and even Le'Veon Bell to handle the backfield duties. Williams' role diminished from there and he had all of 20 offensive snaps and two total carries after the Week 8 bye. With Dobbins and Edwards primed to return, Williams projects to be the No.3 running back going into the offseason assuming the team doesn't retain Freeman and Murray.

Williams hovered around a 50 percent snap share in the Ravens' offense in each of the first three games of the season, turning 27 carries into 164 yards and one touchdown to go with five catches (on seven targets) for 45 yards. Clearly the initial beneficiary of all the injuries in Baltimore's backfield, he was curiously a healthy scratch Week 4 while Latavius Murray was the lead runner, with Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman getting the rest of the RB work. The team opted not to elevate Bell from the practice squad Monday, leaving Murray, Freeman and Williams as its available running backs. Considering he's been active for each of the Ravens' five contests this season, Murray again seems poised to be the No. 1 RB, but it'll be interesting to see if Williams can regain a foothold.

Williams has been listed as a starter in each of the Ravens' previous three games, but the designation hasn't meant much from a fantasy perspective, as Baltimore has ran a full-fledged backfield committee in each of those contests. Though the second-year player out of South Carolina is averaging an excellent 6.1 yards per carry on 27 totes, he drew poor reviews from offensive coordinator Greg Roman coming out of last week's win over Detroit and looks on track to see a smaller role Sunday after handling snap shares between 47 and 51 percent in each of Baltimore's first three contests. Murray projects to see the largest workload of a backfield that also includes Williams, Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman, but expect Baltimore to once again take a committee approach to the position, making it difficult to trust any of the four players in Week 4 fantasy lineups.

Williams continued to lead the backfield as expected following the acquisition of Devonta Freeman (two rushes for 29 yards), but he did have a touchdown vultured by Latavius Murray. Lamar Jackson stole the show on the ground (16 rushes for 107 yards and two rushing scores), leaving scraps for the rest of the Ravens' rushing attack. It was still a solid outing from Williams all things considered, and his line would have looked a whole lot better if he cashed in on one of those three rushing scores. The former undrafted rookie has a nice matchup on tap against a young, unproven Lions defense next Sunday.

With that in mind, Zrebiec suggests that Freeman figures to log limited touches and see some third-down work in a backfield that offensive coordinator Greg Roman indicates will continue to "rotate guys in and out and try to keep them as fresh as we can." In that context, Williams will continue to see his share of touches Sunday against Kansas City, but Murray and Freeman, to a lesser degree, also will factor in. As is the case in any timeshare, weekly carry allotments could vary if/when any of the team's backs emerges as the hot hand in any given contest.

Williams started at tailback in his first career game after the slew of devastating injuries recently endured by the Ravens' backfield. To his credit, the undrafted BYU product got things rolling with a 21-yard catch on Baltimore's second drive, which he capped with a 35-yard touchdown run on a fourth-and-one play later on. In doing so, Williams showed nice burst up the middle and finished with a rather commendable stat line overall. However, despite signing mere days ago, veteran Latavius Murray was also immediately incorporated into the offense, and he topped Williams with 10 carries, gaining 28 yards and scoring once himself and seeing much of his action late in the game after Williams whiffed on a couple pass-protection assignments. Although the Ravens will certainly be pleased by the rookie's performance, especially on such short notice, it'll be interesting to see whether they stick with him as their starter in the upcoming weeks or lean more on the veteran options they've brought aboard, namely Murray and current practice-squad members Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman. In the end, it could prove to be a committee approach, which includes star quarterback Lamar Jackson running as well, but Williams at least helped his cause with a mostly solid showing Monday.

In the absence of Dobbins, Gus Edwards is slated to step into the the team's lead role, while Williams, Justice Hill and undrafted rookie Nate McCrary are in the mix for complementary work. Given that Hill has missed time with an ankle issue and Williams has been impressive this summer, Hensley suggests that Williams could end up securing the No. 2 role behind Edwards heading into the coming season. It's still possible that the Ravens could add some backfield depth in short order, but in the wake of Dobbins' injury, Williams now is worth considering late in drafts or as a low-cost flyer in bidding formats.
