Brown (shoulder) is undergoing tests Monday and will be removed from the active/PUP list if he receives medical clearance, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Brown had offseason shoulder surgery and has been on the PUP list since training camp opened. However, it appears the veteran tackle may finally be nearing a return to the practice field with the team's season opener just three weeks away. The 37-year-old was expected to compete for a starting job, but his late entry into the competition may keep him in a reserve role to start the season.

Jets' Duane Brown: Still recovering from surgery
Rotowire
Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters Sunday that Brown (shoulder) is continuing to work through his offseason surgery and his return off of the PUP list will be "sooner than later," Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
Because Brown was placed on the active/PUP list, he is eligible to practice and play in the preseason at any point. Brown missed the first four games of 2022 and elected to play through a shoulder injury for the remainder of the season before sitting out in Week 18. Once healthy, Brown is expected to compete for a starting tackle spot and will be a key protector for new Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Jets' Duane Brown: Recovering from shoulder surgery
Rotowire
Jets general manager Joe Douglas said Tuesday that Brown recently underwent a shoulder procedure, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports.
Brown missed the first four games of the season with the same shoulder injury, but he played through the issue for the remainder of the 2022 campaign, albeit at less than 100 percent health. Though the 38-year-old should be fully recovered from surgery before Week 1 of the 2023 season, it's unclear if the veteran offensive tackle plans to keep playing or call it a career. With Brown perhaps contemplating retirement and Mekhi Becton (kneecap) also working back from injury, the Jets could look to move right tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker (triceps) to the left side of the offensive line.
