  • Canucks' Cole Clayton: Signs one-year contract

Clayton signed a one-year, two-way contract with Vancouver on Tuesday. Clayton notched two goals and 11 points in 65 AHL regular-season games between Abbotsford and San Jose in 2025-26. The 26-year-old blueliner hasn't seen any NHL action yet. He will probably spend most, if not all, of the 2026-27 campaign in the minors.

  • Canucks' Cole Clayton: Heads to AHL

Clayton was reassigned to the minors Friday. Clayton was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Thursday, but he didn't end up making his NHL debut during his brief stint with Vancouver. The 26-year-old has two goals, seven points and 36 PIM in 49 AHL outings between Abbotsford and San Jose in 2025-26.

  • Canucks' Cole Clayton: Called up from AHL

Clayton was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Thursday. Clayton was acquired from San Jose on Jan. 19 as part of the Kiefer Sherwood trade. Clayton had two goals and five assists in 49 AHL games, split between Abbotsford and AHL San Jose, before his recall. The Canucks could make a few deals before the trade deadline Friday, and that would leave them shorthanded on the blue line if Clayton were not recalled at this time.

  • Sharks' Cole Clayton: Signs with San Jose

Clayton signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks on Tuesday. Clayton entered free agency after not getting a qualifying offer from the Blue Jackets. In 2024-25, he had 15 points in 63 regular-season games with AHL Cleveland. Clayton has yet to make his NHL debut and doesn't have an obvious path to a bottom-four role heading into 2025-26 with the Sharks, so expect him to spend much of the year with AHL San Jose.
