  • Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Sent to AHL Grand Rapids

Cossa was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday. Cossa was recalled Wednesday when John Gibson (upper body) was unable to play or back up Cam Talbot. It appears that Gibson should be good to go Friday against Florida, eliminating the need for Cossa. Cossa is 24-4-3 with a 1.99 GAA and a .927 save percentage across 31 AHL games this season, and his wins and GAA trail only Michael DiPietro among AHL goaltenders in 2025-26.

  • Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Collects fourth shutout

Cossa posted a 26-save shutout in AHL Grand Rapids' 3-0 win over Milwaukee on Saturday. Cossa also had an assist in the contest. He's allowed two or fewer goals in eight of the 10 games during his current winnings streak. For the season, the top prospect goalie is 15-1-0 with four shutouts, a 1.57 GAA and a .940 save percentage, which has been a large reason for the Griffins' historic level of success so far.

  • Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Logs third shutout

Cossa posted a 20-save shutout in AHL Grand Rapids' 1-0 win over Rockford on Saturday. The Griffins' offense had a rare quiet game, but Cossa made sure that wasn't a problem. He earned his third shutout of the season in the process. Playing on a strong team has seen him post a 12-1-0 record with a 1.62 GAA and a .939 save percentage through 13 contests.

  • Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Earns second shutout of AHL season

Cossa posted a 26-save shutout in AHL Grand Rapids' 1-0 win over Iowa on Sunday. Cossa is up to two shutouts this season and five in his career. The 23-year-old netminder has dominated the AHL this year with an 8-1-0 record, a 1.56 GAA and a .942 save percentage in nine games. He's done everything he can at this point to earn a call-up, and continued strong play could help him push for regular NHL minutes as soon as 2026-27.

  • Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Demoted Thursday

Cossa was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday. Cossa will miss out on the NHL roster, but he should be called up if John Gibson or Cam Talbot become available at any point in 2025-26. The 22-year-old Cossa will look to continue his development at the AHL level as he positions himself for a full-time NHL gig in the coming years.

  • Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Facing Blackhawks

Cossa will defend the home net in Tuesday's exhibition matchup against Chicago, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Cossa may split the contest with Michal Postava. The 22-year-old Cossa posted a 21-15-5 record with a 2.45 GAA and a .911 save percentage across 41 regular-season appearances for AHL Grand Rapids in 2024-25. He will likely spend most of the 2025-26 campaign in the minors.

  • Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Recalled Tuesday

Cossa was recalled from AHL Grand Rapids under emergency conditions Tuesday. Petr Mrazek (undisclosed) was hurt versus Utah on Monday, but this move suggests there may be something bothering either Cam Talbot or Alex Lyon as well. Cossa could dress for Tuesday's game versus the Avalanche. He has a 2.38 GAA and a .913 save percentage at the AHL level and also made his NHL debut Dec. 9 against the Sabres.

  • Red Wings' Sebastian Cossa: Excellent in third pro season

Cossa has gone 14-9-3 with a 2.23 GAA and a .918 save percentage over 26 games with AHL Grand Rapids this season. Cossa also made his NHL debut Dec. 10, 2024, allowing two goals on 14 shots. His AHL numbers are better in 2024-25 than they were last year -- he had a 2.41 GAA and a .913 save percentage over 40 outings in 2023-24. With all of Alex Lyon, Ville Husso and Jack Campbell coming off the books this summer, Cossa may be given a chance to claim an NHL job in the fall, though the team is likely to sign at least one other veteran goalie to keep the organizational depth steady. Cossa is not far off from being an impact player in fantasy, especially if the Red Wings continue to improve overall.
