Dahlin (upper body) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Canadiens, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.
Head coach Lindy Ruff said Thursday that Dahlin was 50/50 to play Saturday, but the 26-year-old won't travel with the team to Montreal. However, Ruff said Friday that Dahlin is progressing, so it seems possible that he'll be in consideration to return Wednesday against the Flyers. Across six appearances to begin the regular season, Dahlin has recorded two goals, two assists, 14 blocked shots, eight hits and two PIM while averaging 23:38 of ice time.

Head coach Lindy Ruff stated that Dahlin is a 50/50 to play in Saturday's clash, which ultimately rules him out for the Sabres' matchup on Thursday. The 26-year-old Dahlin is slated to miss his second consecutive game Thursday after compiling two goals, four points, 19 shots on net, eight hits and 14 blocked shots across six appearances to begin the 2026-27 campaign. Dahlin is one of the best goal-scoring defenders in the NHL. He's fifth overall in that category in the last three seasons (37), behind Cale Makar (51), Jacob Chychrun (47), Zach Werenski (45) and Evan Bouchard (39). Dahlin is also sixth overall in points in that same span with 143. He's coming off a third-place finish in Norris trophy voting last season, the highest finish ever for a Buffalo defender. Dahlin's 74 points (19 goals, 55 assists) established a new career high for the 26-year-old.

Dahlin scored a goal on five shots and blocked two shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens in Game 7.
Dahlin's third-period tally forced overtime, but he didn't have one more heroic moment in him. The defenseman ended the postseason on a five-game point streak, in which he earned three goals and seven assists. Overall, he produced four goals, 10 helpers, 46 shots on net, 15 hits, 15 blocked shots, 20 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 13 appearances in his first taste of postseason action. Dahlin is poised to be a pillar of the Sabres' defense for years to come and makes for a good pick to lead a fantasy blue line in drafts this fall.

Dahlin scored a goal on three shots, distributed four assists, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Canadiens in Game 6.
Dahlin's tally opened the scoring 32 seconds into the game. Three of his four helpers came on the power play as the Sabres' offense erupted in the final two periods. Dahlin has three multi-point efforts over 12 playoff contests. This was the third instance of a Buffalo skater recording a five-point game in the playoffs -- John Tucker did it April 10, 1988, versus the Bruins, and Derek Roy matched that record May 5, 2006, against the Senators. Dahlin has three goals, 10 helpers, 41 shots on net, 20 PIM, 14 hits, 13 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating this postseason.
