  • Sharks' Ivar Stenberg: Two-point effort against Detroit

Stenberg scored a power-play goal on three shots and added a power-play assist in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Red Wings. Stenberg made the most of his power-play opportunities, contributing to both of San Jose's goals with the man advantage. The rookie winger logged 17:30 of ice time, including 7:53 on the power play, suggesting he's already earning meaningful offensive responsibilities. His three shots and two-point performance are encouraging signs for his fantasy outlook, particularly if he continues receiving substantial opportunities alongside the Sharks' top offensive players. Even though he's failed to crack the scoresheeet in four of his first eight games, the talent is clearly there -- he has two multi-point performances in his last three outings, and he's been producing as a middle-six forward.

  • Sharks' Ivar Stenberg: First multi-point effort of career

Stenberg scored a goal and dished an assist, both on the power play, while adding two shots on goal, two PIM and a minus-4 rating in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Bruins. On the bright side, this was Stenberg's first multi-point effort in his career. However, his line with Michael Misa and Kiefer Sherwood struggled at even strength, taking some shine off the performance overall. Stenberg is at one goal, three assists, seven shots on net and a minus-5 rating across six appearances to begin his NHL career. The talent is there -- fantasy managers will just have to show some patience as the rest of his game catches up.

  • Sharks' Ivar Stenberg: Makes splash in preseason play

Stenberg had a hat trick and an assist in Thursday's 10-0 preseason win over the Ducks. Stenberg, the No. 2 overall pick from June, is all but guaranteed an NHL job to begin the campaign. The 18-year-old took advantage of AHL-level competition in this game, and he should continue to see prominent usage once the puck drops next Thursday versus the Panthers in the season opener. Stenberg could find his way into the Calder Trophy conversation if he hits the ground running.
