Top Kings News

  • Kings' Phillip Danault: Missing another game

Danault (illness) won't play Thursday versus the Lightning, Jared Shafran of LAKingsInsider.com reports.

Danault will miss his fourth straight game while dealing with the flu. The Kings next play Monday at home versus the Blue Jackets, which may give him enough time to recover and get back in the lineup. Alex Turcotte remains on the third line and Samuel Helenius stays in the lineup with Danault out Thursday.

  • Kings' Anton Forsberg: Tending twine Thursday

Forsberg will start Thursday's road game versus the Lightning.

Forsberg will start both halves of a back-to-back after allowed three goals on 28 shots versus the Panthers on Wednesday. The 33-year-old will get the nod on consecutive days, as the Kings appear reluctant to allow Pheonix Copley to see the net in this tough matchup. After Thursday, the Kings will be off until Monday's home game versus the Blue Jackets, which is the start of another back-to-back set.

  • Kings' Kevin Fiala: Scores in Wednesday's loss

Fiala scored a goal on three shots in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Panthers.

Fiala got the Kings back within a goal, but they couldn't tie the game. The 29-year-old winger has two goals and three assists over his last six outings. For the season, he's at 12 goals, 23 points, 100 shots on net, 18 PIM and a minus-7 rating through 33 contests. He continues to play on the second line and first power-play unit.

  • Kings' Joel Armia: Nets power-play goal

Armia scored a power-play goal on two shots and added four PIM in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Panthers.

Armia scored with a man advantage for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign -- he had been limited to four power-play assists across the last three years. The Kings are giving him a look on the second unit for now, but he's more of a defensive winger. On the year, he's at eight goals, seven helpers, 43 shots on net, 27 hits, 20 blocked shots, 20 PIM and a plus-5 rating through 33 appearances.

  • Kings' Anton Forsberg: Takes third straight loss

Forsberg made 25 saves in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Panthers.

The Kings gave the veteran netminder a 1-0 lead in the first period on a Joel Armia power-play tally, but Forsberg couldn't make it hold up. It was his first start since Darcy Kuemper (upper body) landed on IR, but his third straight losing decision, as Forsberg has gone 0-2-1 in his last three outings while allowing nine goals on 81 shots. The Kings are likely to lean heavily on Forsberg while Kuemper is on the shelf, but if he struggles, Pheonix Copley has plenty of NHL experience as the No. 2 goalie.

  • Kings' Martin Chromiak: Two goals in AHL win

Chromiak scored twice in AHL Ontario's 4-0 win over Bakersfield on Wednesday.

Chromiak has three multi-point efforts over his last eight games. The 24-year-old forward is up to 10 goals, 19 points, 51 shots on net and a plus-3 rating through 25 appearances. He's yet to make his NHL debut, and while he's played at a career-best pace so far in 2025-26, it's unclear if he'll get a call-up before the end of the campaign.

  • Kings' Jared Woolley: Tallies twice for London

Woolley scored two goals in OHL London's 5-4 win over Owen Sound on Wednesday.

Woolley is in one of his better stretches of the season with three goals and five assists over his last eight outings. For the year, the defenseman is at eight goals, 22 points and a plus-11 rating over 31 appearances. The Kings prospect is on track to surpass his 28-point total from 68 regular-season games last year, but he's not projected to be a high-scoring blueliner as a professional.

  • Kings' Phillip Danault: Won't play Wednesday

Danault (illness) will not be in action versus the Panthers on Wednesday, Jared Shafran of LAKingsInsider.com reports.

Danault will miss his third straight game while battling the flu. The 32-year-old center has yet to find the back of the net in 30 games this year, though he has chipped in five assists, 42 shots and 22 hits along the way. With Danault on the shelf, Quinton Byfield and Alex Turcotte will hold down the middle-six center roles.

  • Kings' Anton Forsberg: First goalie off Wednesday

Forsberg was the first goalie off during Wednesday's morning skate, Jared Shafran of LAKingsInsider.com reports, indicating that he'll defend the road crease against Florida.

Forsberg is in line to serve as the Kings' top netminder while Darcy Kuemper (upper body) is on injured reserve. Forsberg has made 10 appearances this year, going 4-3-3 with a 2.82 GAA and an .893 save percentage. He drew a home start against the Panthers on Nov. 6 and allowed five goals on 24 shots (.792 save percentage) in a 5-2 loss.

  • Kings' Quinton Byfield: Set to play versus Cats

Byfield (illness) is expected back in the lineup against Florida on Wednesday, Jared Shafran of LA Kings Insider reports.

Byfield is poised to step into a second-line role heading into Wednesday's matchup after missing just one game due to his illness. The 23-year-old forward is mired in a 13-game goal drought during which he has notched three helpers, four PIM and 24 shots.

  • Kings' Pheonix Copley: Elevated from minors

Copley was recalled from AHL Ontario on Tuesday.

Copley will serve as the Kings' No. 2 netminder for the foreseeable future, as Darcy Kuemper (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Copley has a 7-6-0 record, .885 save percentage and 3.13 GAA across 13 games with the Reign this season. The Alaska native made just one appearance with Los Angeles in 2024-25, conceding two goals on 12 shots in a loss to Toronto.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Designated for injured reserve

Kuemper (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Kuemper was injured in Monday's clash with Dallas and will now need to miss at least the next three games after the team put him on IR. With the available roster spot, Pheonix Copley was called up from the minors in a corresponding move and figures to serve as the No. 2 option behind Anton Forsberg while Kuemper is on the shelf.

  • Kings' Andrei Kuzmenko: Scores PP goal vs. Dallas

Kuzmenko scored a power-play goal in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Stars.

Kuzmenko found the back of the net at the 11:03 mark of the second period to give the Kings a 1-0 lead, but the Stars would turn things around after scoring four unanswered goals the rest of the way. This was Kuzmenko's fifth goal of the season, and it's worth noting that four of those have come on the power play. Through 27 appearances, the 29-year-old winger has nine points (five goals, four assists), so he shouldn't carry a lot of upside even if he plays as a top-six forward.

  • Kings' Anton Forsberg: Beaten three times Monday

Forsberg stopped 17 of 20 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Stars. The fourth goal was an empty-netter with 32 seconds left in the third period.

Forsberg had to enter the game in the second period after Darcy Kuemper exited with an upper-body injury. If Kuemper is forced to miss additional time, Forsberg could see more playing time between the pipes. This wasn't his finest outing, though to be fair, he was facing one of the best teams in the Western Conference. Forsberg owns a 4-3-3 record with a 2.82 GAA and an .893 save percentage in 10 appearances this season.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Sustains injury in Dallas

Kuemper has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game in Dallas due to an upper-body injury.

Kuemper was injured during the opening frame after a collision with Mikko Rantanen at the top of the blue paint. The 35-year-old Kuemper didn't come out for the start of the second period and was replaced between the pipes by Anton Forsberg. If Kuemper is forced to miss any additional time, Pheonix Copley and Erik Portillo will be candidates to be brought up from AHL Ontario. The Kings have a back-to-back set on the road against Florida and Tampa Bay on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: First goalie off Monday

Kuemper was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, Jared Shafran of LAKingsInsider.com reports, signaling that he'll draw the road start against Dallas.

Kuemper has had some unlucky losses recently, as he's gone 3-2-3 with a 1.86 GAA and .934 save percentage over his last eight starts. He started on the road against the Stars on Oct. 23 and turned aside 29 of 31 shots (.935 save percentage) in an overtime win. The Stars are scoring 3.27 goals per game this year, which is the sixth-best mark in the league.
