Rangers' K'Andre Miller: Placed on injured reserve
The Rangers put Miller (upper body) on injured reserve Friday, per Dan Rosen of NHL.com.
Miller left Wednesday's tilt versus the Sabres at the end of the second period and did not return. The Rangers will likely use Connor Mackey as their sixth defenseman in Miller's absence. Miller has two goals, four assists, 55 hits and 40 blocked shots in 28 appearances this season.

Rangers' K'Andre Miller: Won't travel for start of road trip
Miller (upper body) won't travel with the Rangers for the start of their upcoming road trip, which begins Sunday in St. Louis, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.
Miller exited Wednesday's game against the Sabres due to an upper-body injury, and he'll be forced to miss some time due to the issue. The Rangers also face the Kings at home Saturday, so it seems as though Miller will also be sidelined for that matchup. Connor Mackey is in line to serve as the team's sixth defenseman in Miller's absence.

Carrick has a helper in back-to-back contests for the first time this season, a quick turnaround compared to the 11-game drought that preceded this improved stretch. Panarin logged a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.
Panarin saw a four-game point streak snapped in a 2-1 loss to the Chicago on Monday. He bounced back with a first-period assist Wednesday, setting up Mika Zibanejad on the opening goal. The goal was the 300th of Zibanejad's career, and he's not far off from a couple of other milestones. He needs one more point to reach 700 and one more assist for 400 in his career. The center has been playing better of late with two goals and four assists over his last six outings. Overall, Zibanejad is at six tallies, 21 points (seven on the power play), 62 shots on net, 10 PIM and a minus-14 rating over 28 appearances.

Rangers' Adam Fox: Scores in three-point effort
Fox scored an empty-net goal, added two assists and blocked five shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.
Fox finally got his first goal of the season, coming on his 41st shot. He also had helpers on Mika Zibanejad's power-play tally in the first period and Reilly Smith's third-period marker. Fox has earned 11 of his 24 assists on the power play as he continues to be dynamic as a playmaker even with the bad shooting luck. The defenseman has added 35 blocked shots, 19 hits and a plus-3 rating through 28 appearances.

Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Grabs win Wednesday
Shesterkin stopped 29 of 31 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Sabres.
Shesterkin was working with thin margins for most of the game, but he was able to get the job done. The Sabres' two goals came over the last five minutes. Shesterkin has just two wins over his last eight outings, but he's allowed exactly two goals in four of his last five starts. He's now at a 10-10-1 record with a 2.90 GAA and a .911 save percentage through 21 starts. The Rangers are back in action at home Saturday against the Kings before heading to St. Louis on Sunday for the second half of a back-to-back set.

The netminder bailed out the Rangers' struggling defense more than once, but on the game-winner in the second period, Shesterkin inadvertently deflected the puck into his own net after it slipped off Taylor Hall's stick on a 2-on-1 rush. Shesterkin's 2.95 GAA and .910 save percentage on the season aren't up to his usual standards, but with his focus firmly back on the ice after his wife gave birth Sunday and he signed an eight-year contract extension Saturday, a hot streak could be on its way.

Rangers' Brett Berard: Set to play versus Hawks
Berard (upper body) is poised to return to the lineup versus Chicago on Monday, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.
Berard will be back in action for the first time since Nov. 30 versus the Canadiens, a stretch of three games on the shelf due to his upper-body issue. In his limited NHL outings this year (four games), the 22-year-old winger has logged 12:33 of ice time per game while notching one goal, one assist and nine shots. Look for Berard to slot into a bottom-six role with his injury concern behind him -- though he's far from a lock to keep that spot ahead of both Jimmy Vesey and Jonny Brodzinski.
