  • Hockey Club's John Marino: Unavailable for start of camp

Marino is considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury and will not be on the ice Thursday for the start of training camp, according to Craig Morgan of ALLCITY Network.

Marino was acquired by Utah from New Jersey for a second-round pick in each of the 2024 and 2025 drafts. He is expected to play on the second defensive pairing once healthy. He had four goals, 21 assists, 39 hits and 89 blocked shots in 75 regular-season games with the Devils in 2023-24.

  • Hockey Club's Nick Bjugstad: Out week-to-week

Bjugstad (upper body) will not be available for the start of training camp and is considered week-to-week, Craig Morgan of ALLCITY Network reports Thursday.

Bjugstad was deemed ready to go Wednesday, so this is a bit of a surprise. The 32-year-old had a good season with the Coyotes last year, scoring 22 times while adding 23 assists in 76 regular-season contests. Look for Bjugstad to garner a role as a middle-six forward once he is healthy.

  • Hockey Club's Nick Bjugstad: Clear to start camp

Bjugstad (undisclosed) is listed to skate with the first group at Thursday's on-ice practice session, Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Bjugstad missed the last five games of 2023-24, but it doesn't appear that injury is lingering. The 32-year-old is likely to fill a bottom-six role in 2024-25, but he could move into the top six when injuries arise. He was productive with 45 points in 76 outings last season.

  • Hockey Club's Barrett Hayton: Ready for camp

Hayton (lower body) will be on the ice with the first group when Utah opens training camp Thursday, Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Hayton missed 49 contests last season due to various injuries, including the last 17 games of the year with a lower-body issue. When healthy, the 24-year-old has top-six potential -- he produced 43 points in 82 contests in 2022-23. Hayton could be a candidate to skate between Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz on the top line.

  • Hockey Club's Tij Iginla: Hampered by lower-body injury

Iginla is being evaluated for a lower-body injury, Craig Morgan of ALLCITY Network reports Wednesday.

Despite being taken sixth overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Iginla was unlikely to make the Opening Night roster even prior to the injury. With this issue likely to impact the 18-year-old center during the early days of training camp, fantasy managers should probably be expecting Iginla to head back to WHL Kelowna for another campaign in juniors.

  • Hockey Club's Kailer Yamamoto: Secures PTO

Yamamoto agreed to terms on a professional tryout agreement with Utah HC on Wednesday.

Yamamoto saw action in 59 games for the Kraken last year in which he notched eight goals and eight assists, including six power-play points. Considering his steady decline in production since 2021-22 when he tallied 41 points in 81 games, it shouldn't come as a surprise to see the 25-year-old winger have to go the PTO route in order to find a landing spot for the upcoming season. If he makes the team, Yamamoto figures to take on a bottom-six role but could move up the lineup when injuries inevitably pop up.
