Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Fried (elbow) threw a successful live batting practice session Saturday and is "likely" to pitch in a rehab game as soon as next Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Per MLB.com, Fried reported to Double-A Somerset to throw his live session Saturday and tossed 44 pitches over three simulated innings. He'll presumably throw a bullpen session in the next day or two before the Yankees assign him to an affiliate to kick off a rehab assignment. Assuming he's able to build on his 44-pitch workload from Saturday, Fried may need just one or two rehab appearances before slotting back into the New York rotation. The veteran southpaw has been on the shelf since May 16 due to a bone bruise in his left elbow.

Fried (elbow) threw a successful 36-pitch live batting practice session Sunday and will face hitters again Thursday or Friday before embarking on a rehab assignment, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports. The veteran left-hander continues to progress in his rehab from a bone bruise in his left elbow, and he's closing in on being cleared for game action. Fried landed on the shelf in mid-May and will likely require at least a couple starts in the minors before potentially rejoining the New York starting rotation in late July.

Manager Aarone Boone said Tuesday that Fried (elbow) is scheduled to throw another session of live batting practice Sunday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. Fried faced live batters Tuesday for the first time since landing on the injured list in mid-May, and he apparently came out of the simulated game with no issues. The left-hander will likely throw a bullpen session within the next few days before ramping up his workload during the live session Sunday. Fried isn't likely to rejoin the Yankees' rotation prior to the All-Star break but could be reinstated before the end of July.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Fried (elbow) will throw a two-inning simulated game Tuesday, David Lennon of Newsday reports. The Yankees are targeting Fried for around 30 pitches while he takes the mound and faces hitters for the first time since landing on the 15-day injured list May 16 due to a left elbow bone bruise. Fried doesn't look like he'll have enough time to get fully stretched out before the All-Star break, but a late-July return from the IL could be in play if he steers clear of any setbacks as he builds up his pitch count via sim games and/or minor-league rehab starts.

Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that Fried (elbow) is expected to begin facing hitters by late June or early July, Erik Boland of Newsday reports. Fried has been throwing off a mound for about a week and is now asymptomatic after landing on the injured list May 16 due to a bone bruise in his left elbow. He remains without an official timeline for his recovery and is likely to require a rehab assignment before coming off the IL, but a return to the rotation at some point around the All-Star break appears feasible.
