• Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: On roster for ALCS

  The Blue Jays added Bassitt (back) to the active roster for the ALCS against the Mariners, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. The veteran right-hander finished the regular season on the injured list due to back inflammation and wasn't included on Toronto's ALDS roster, but he's now ready to go. Bassitt pitched well as a back-end starter during the regular season with a 3.96 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 166:52 K:BB across 170.1 innings. but he may have a more flexible role for the postseason. Fellow starting pitcher Max Scherzer was also added to the active roster to face Seattle.

  Bassitt (back) isn't included on the Blue Jays' ALDS roster. Bassitt was expected to be available for the ALDS after ending the regular season on the injured list due to back inflammation, but the Jays will instead give the veteran righty additional time to heal. He will be eligible to rejoin Toronto's pitching staff for the ALCS if the team prevails over the Yankees in the ALDS.

  Bassitt (back) is expected to be available to pitch during the ALDS, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. Bassitt landed on the 15-day injured list late in the regular season with lower-back inflammation, but he's made good progress with the injury since then. While it appears likely Bassitt will be included on the Blue Jays' ALDS roster, it's unclear whether the club will use him in the rotation or bullpen.

  The Blue Jays placed Bassitt on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Friday, with lower-back inflammation. Bassitt's injury will prevent him from making another start in the regular season, so he'll finish 2025 with a 3.96 ERA and 1.33 WHIP to go with a 166:52 K:BB through 170.1 innings. However, he'll be eligible to return from the IL for the start of the ALDS if he can come back following a minimum-length stay. Until then, the Blue Jays will recall Mason Fluharty from Triple-A Buffalo to provide additional depth out of the bullpen.

• Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: Falls to Rays

  Bassitt (11-9) took the loss Thursday against Tampa Bay, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three. All three runs charged to Bassitt came in the second inning, when the Rays strung together five straight two-out singles. The 36-year-old Bassitt has gone 10 starts without a win (his last victory came on July 23), though he had pitched to a 2.30 ERA in five outings prior to Thursday. Overall, the right-hander sports a 3.96 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP and 166:52 K:BB through 170.1 innings this season. Bassitt's currently in line to face the Red Sox at home his next time out.
