  Bassitt (1-0) earned the win against the Orioles on Sunday, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings. Bassitt yielded a run on a wild pitch in the first inning but bounced back with five scoreless frames. The veteran hurler disappointed in 2024, but he posted a 1.74 ERA and 0.97 WHIP this spring and is certainly capable of a rebound. He lines up for a road matchup with the Mets next weekend.

  Bassitt gave up two hits and two walks over 4.2 scoreless innings in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins. He struck out four. While he didn't have to deal with any of Minnesota's biggest bats, like Byron Buxton or Royce Lewis, Bassitt had little trouble dispatching the lineup he did face. The veteran righty built up to 71 pitches (46 strikes) in his longest outing of the spring, and he has a 10:6 K:BB through 9.2 Grapefruit League frames. Bassitt will be counted on to provide length in the middle of the rotation after posting a 3.86 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 371 innings over his first two campaigns with the Blue Jays.

  Bassitt gave up two runs on three hits and four walks over 2.1 innings in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox. He struck out two. Spring results mean little, especially for a veteran like Bassitt, and the most important takeaway from Thursday's outing might be that he built up to 56 pitches -- even if only 29 of them were strikes. Given his performance last season however, it would be reassuring to fantasy GMs if he put together some better outings before Opening Day. The 36-year-old righty has made at least 30 starts in each of the last three seasons, but Bassitt's 2024 numbers were his worst since he became a full-time rotation arm with the A's in 2019, as he stumbled to a 4.16 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 168:70 K:BB over 171 regular-season innings.

  Manager John Schneider said Friday that Bassitt won't start Sunday's game against Miami, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Bassitt was slated to start the Blue Jays' final game of the 2024 season, but the 35-year-old right-hander will be rested instead. Schneider didn't name a replacement starter. Bassitt finishes the campaign with a 4.16 ERA -- his worst since 2016 -- along with a 1.46 WHIP and 168:70 K:BB across 171 innings (31 starts).

  Bassitt (10-14) took the loss Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and seven walks over 4.1 innings against the Red Sox. He struck out two. Bassitt walked a career-high seven batters and failed to complete five innings for the second consecutive start, allowing single runs in the second, third and fourth innings prior to being pulled with one out and two men on in the fifth. The 35-year-old righty holds a 4.16 ERA and 1.46 WHIP, the first time his ERA has moved above four and his WHIP above 1.24 since 2016. Bassitt is in line to make one more start on the final day of the regular season against the Marlins.
